Are there any exotic dancers that incorporate bellydancing into their stage routines in the Pittsburgh or surrounding areas?

First off, are you a dancer? Secondly, I find it next to impossible to try to incorporate bellydancing into my work (a) because we have to wear the shoes, and (b) because I really would not want to get my bellydancing clothes ruined by stage work and/or customers. They are very expensive. Don't get me wrong, I have definitely thought about doing bellydancing on stage.
1. Don't wear your $500 costume in the club, ever! Get one of those cheap harem girl costumes, there are a bunch online. I have a cheap harem girl costume that was given to me by a fellow bellydancer. It was actually bought in Lebanon but looks like something for the bedroom.....or the stripclub! Also, I have some chainmail stuff that looks pretty good for the club but is a bit cumbersome to take off if you don't have a backstage area to undress.....
2. You can bellydance in the heels.....practice! I like wearing cone heels anyway for energetic stage sets. Also, there is nothing stopping you from wearing small heels or ballroom dance shoes onstage, right? I really bellydance in 3-4 inch heels made for salsa, so why not???
You should totally go for it!

Damn those things are sexy! Anyway, bellydancing is so cool. So sexy. So sensual. I gotta learn it.
Belly-dancing is awesome! I've been taking a class for a few weeks, and really recommend it. The moves are really sexy. for some reason, though, I feel awkward trying to put them into my normal stage routine. Maybe it's the shoes, or maybe I just need practice. Sometimes I'll do some of the hip shimmy moves during a lap dance. (There's a new rule that you can only make contact for 10 seconds at a time, so you have to think of something else to do. For that, belly-dancing has been incredibly useful. Some girls are just standing there during their non-contact time...it looks really funny.)
I am a Patron, sometimes a Stripper, and I study Bellydance. While Bellydance can certainly increase your grace in ANY other form of dance, I would shudder to see any girls up there using it for stripping. Doing an "I dream of Genie" bit once in a while is one thing, trying to combine the two arts quite another. If you study the origins of and reasons for Bellydance, you'll know that they just do NOT belong together.

If I'm not mistaken, bellydance was first introduced as a dance in preparation for childbirth, and not a dance for the pleasure of men. The undulations of the body were thought to ease the pain of childbirth. Whether intentional or not, bellydance is a sensual dance, and it does appeal to men. Over the centuries, bellydancing has evolved into much more than just a dance for childbirth. I find nothing repulsive about incorporating this beautiful artform into the racy, but beautiful artform of stripping. Both appeal to the audiences, who are paying us to entertain them, and if it means an increase in earnings or just feeling extra good when you enhance the stripping with bellydancing, then I say okay!
I agree exotica, but I won't say it around other bellydancers because they really pull attitude with me regarding stripping![]()

There's a super belly dancing troupe in Portland that teaches classes. I'm going to enroll soon (I hope). They're called the Caravan and they're supposed to be REALLY good. Anyone ever seen them perform? A girl at work showed me belly dancing tummy tricks today! She said it took her 1 1/2 years to learn to move her muscles the right way. I hope it doesn't take me that long!
