    Default Tattoo Removal

Has anyone ever had any tattoos removed? I got two tattoo awhile ago at a Sacramento Tattoo Convention in California, I love tattoos, and have always found them to be appealing, but I do not like them on ME. I have two swallows which are on my stomach/hip area, and really regret having them done, but I have heard horror stories about tattoo removal, even with a laser, leaving bad scars, discoloration, loss of pigment, color still left. Can anyone give me any advice regarding tattoo removal. Also I want to get into dancing, and feel that because the tattoos are a good size and on my stomach area, and are noticable and might affect earnings in a negative way. Do tattoos affect the earnings for dancers?

First off, the laser removal process is long and expensive. Depending on the size of the tattoo, it could take a couple years to fully remove the ink. Also, the area you have them on is tender skin and it will scar. If the swallows are colorful, you may not be able to remove them completely from the skin. Yellow and red are VERY hard colors to remove from the skin, so keep that in mind. And yes, it does hurt. I am actually going to school in 2 months for this field. You can go to a specialist and they'll give you the best options for your situation. You might find out the removal may not be the best option.

As far as tattoos on dancers and whether it helps or hurt earnings, I don't think it matters. Some guys love a chick with tats, some guys don't. It's all about your hustle and how you work the customers, not what tats you have. I know a lot of girls in the clubs around here that have multiple tattoos all over them (One girl I know has stars all down her calves and neck area) and they make great money.

I had my tattoo removed by Dr. Patrick Bitter Sr. last year. He used a ruby laser and it left no traces of the tat and no scar either. The ruby laser breaks up the ink and doesn't damage the skin. I had 3 sessions at $250 a pop. Dr. Bitter is located in Los Gatos and San Francisco, Ca.

I am in between sessions 4 and 5 for a large black ink dragon. This stuff hurts like hell. I am doing the Q-switch ruby laser. I paid $2000 up front because it's MUCH cheaper than $400 per session. I am going to need at least 10 sessions.

Know that it will blister and weep and you won't be able to cover it up with makeup for about a week each time you go. Mine is on my ankle and I would not be dancing a week afterwards. Even stockings sticking against blistered flesh could cause an infection. You are also supposed to refrain from smoking and drinking because you rely on your immune system to remove the ink.

I have no scarring (don't pick at it), but it is definitely going to take at leasta year and a half to remove. You wait 6-8 weeks in between sessions, at a minimum.

Good luck - hope that helps.

Thanks for all your responses! I think I will look into the doctor you used Farrah, I live in downtown San Jose, so Los Gatos is only about 15-20 minutes away. Was your tattoo colorful at all? My swallows are very colorful, they have red, yellow and teal in them. I was afraid that because of all the color they would be unable to fully remove them, because I have heard colors are alot harder to remove.

Oh ouch! Are you sure you can't just cover them up? I will tell you, it hurts like a m-----f-----! I had an initial appointment to have the Harley wings taken off of my ass and man! I decided just to keep covering it up! Dermablend works really well..
If you have them removed just take super good care of the area and keep it bacteria free. I could not work for a couple of days or so. Some colors remove better than others but I think with new technology you will have great results.
I had a surgical removal of a name on my shin. The Dr. literally cut it out and then pulled my skin back together. Fine if you have just a little name, but I would opt for the laser.

Dr. Bitter Sr. does do a free consult so he can tell you what type of results you can expect. He did a little test patch on me to see how long it would take to remove it. That procedure cost $75 if I remember correctly. All of my appts were scheduled 2-3 weeks apart.

I recently got a beautiful, large tat that covers my upper arm. So far, it has only affected my earnings for the better it seems. ???

I have to agree Exotica... All of my other tats I covered up because they are old, but I had a beautiful one put accross my lower back in April and everyone dug it! Plus, if people knew the meaning of it (sobriety) it was a great conversation piece and people would come over to me from across the room to let me know that they are also friends of Bill W.

What exactlly is a ruber laser? I also read about pulses of light removing tattoos. Has anyone heard of this method? Also, farrah does dr. bitter have a website, I did a google search and couldnt find anything about him, well a website at least. Should I just look in the yellow pages instead?

Exotica, what is your new addition of?

I hate to ressurect an old thread, but LorInn, how did it go? Did you have that tat removed, or at least start procedures? Has anyone had any luck with topical methods, such as Tat B Gone (can't see how this is effective for something injected into the second layer of skin, but if anyone's had success, I'd love to hear about it)? Big D, who did you go to in Dallas for the laser treatment? Excising a tattoo scares the poo out of me, because the one I'm pondering removing is right over my spine.

I love my tattoo (it's in the artists portfolio, for pete's sake!), but I don't like where it is. Outgrew wanting tats that show in normal clothes, I guess. Oddly enough, my mom seems kind of sad that I'm thinking of getting rid of it...

I've been thinking a lot about doing this myself. I would love my tattoo if it was the size I wanted it to be and not 2-4x bigger. *sigh* I have a picture of it, does anyone have any guesses on how many treatments I would have to go for something like this??

probably more than 5x... I had small tattoos (1 inch by 1 inch) on my hands done prison tattoo style (tape recorder, needle, guitar string, and ink) it took three times to completely vanish. The place I went to does just tattoo removal nothing else. This is website of the place I went to get it removed ----> http://www.trlaser.com/

I'm actually going to go back there soon to fix a tattoo by getting it lightened

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

I'm so sick of my tattoos also and have been wanting to get them removed for along time.I'm just scared that you still will be able to see traces of them. I don't care how much it cost or how painful if I could get them removed I would do it.Does anyone have any pics of where your tattoo was removed ?Was there still a trace?
