    Default scary news

Ok, I went to the gyno last week and when she took my blood pressure, the nurse noticed it was up, and when she called today she told me what it was and i just started balling my eyes out. I don't know what to do, i work out 3 days a week and am in good health, but i don't know what to do :'( I feel so awful.

    what is it?

Have you tried reducing sodium too? That's really hard to do (I think harder than sugar).

I have always had low blood pressure until recently. It was 145/91 the other day. I started jogging again and laying off the eggs and cheese a bit. I also try to keep processed food (even frozen low fat vegetarian dinnerS) to a minimum (like one every other day at most) because of the salt content.

Have you tried fresh fruit, veggies, salad with low sodium dressing, etc?

Maybe you should have your lipid panel check that should cover chesterol level, usually high blood pressure and high bad chesterol levels have nothing to do with exercise or diet but with genetics. I'm supposing that the Doc said to stop smoking watch diet and exercise then weekly or daily take Blood Pressure and check lipids panel and if your blood pressure stays around the same then they might but you on a drug like Lipotor.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

There's a commercial on TV right now that is very appropriate to your situation. It shows a woman who is surfing and lists that she's a marathon runner, vegetarian, etc... and has high blood pressure. Lots of times (like in my family-- my mom has it) it's hereditary. You can take medication and have a perfectly normal long and healthy life!

It's possible to fix this problem. My uncle and dad have to watch both blood pressure, sodium intake, and sugar. I guess that leaves meditating in a cave far away from any fun or good food, huh? Just kidding.
Go to your health food store and look for books, herbs, products, etc. Talk to the store employees. Get on the Net and research. You'll feel better quicker just empowering yourself with information and hope. Statistically, your risk is very low. And you have the best medical science available.
Relax and direct your energy towards healing your self, and not being worried. Best wishes and PM me if you would like.

1 year ago, my bp was much higher than yours is and I was the similar to you - good health, no bad habits. Today it's normal. I did it by sticking to a diet of less than 500 mg. of sodium a day and exercising 5-6 days a week. Although food will taste bland at first, there are a number of salt free seasons that you can use. I also cut out ALL processed foods (due to salt content). Good luck.
