Default Strip Clubs to Become More Colorful

    From the Washington Post:

"The Federal Reserve will begin distributing the nation's new multicolored $20 bills on Oct. 9"

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...-2003Sep8.html

This news may be kind of off topic for this forum. But, it's weird how I instantly thought of being in a strip club when I read it.

Hmmmm... Maybe I can start counterfeiting my own money to support my strip club habbit.

As long as an Andy Jackson is worth twenty bucks, I don't think the ladies will mind the color change. I wonder if the other bills will get different color schemes. That sure would help me sort them out in a darkened room when I'm trying to pay up for dances.

Now that proposal a few years back to replace dollar bills with dollar coins would have royally sucked (can you imagine dancers walking around on stage with a coin changer), but IMHO those Sacagawea dollars are going to be nothing more than a novelty item much like the Susan B's before them.

The color change has been long overdue. The rest of the world has multicolored bills, and it makes for less confusion. I can't tell you how many times I mistook a 50 dollar bill for a 20 (and vice versa) at my bar. Its a mistake that can happen when you are trying to make drink, cash money, and make change all at once. I know some people, when they catch the mistake (if its not in their favor) think I am trying to rip them off. The color change will help me considerably. I'm sure it can benefit dancers and SC customers as well in that regard.

I wonder how many times a dancer will say "honey, you have to pay with real money, here" on the day the bills come out..
"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."

I accidentally gave my waitress a $50 instead of a $20 one night and told her to keep it (on a $14 round) Fortunately, she said "..Roy, did you know you gave me a $50?.."

Could have used some glow in the dark money that night. Plus 3 or 4 fewer brewskis LOL

Most people would question that - I know I would (and have). Still, you get the jerks who know you made a mistake, and haven't the integrity to mention it to you.

Ive never given a dancer a 50 when I was meaning to give a 20, but I would hope that she would realize it might be a mistake and mention it. Different colored bills would definitive prevent such instances.

    Amber,

Do they ever ask for change? It makes me cringe thinking about asking for the remainder of a 50 on one $20 dance as well as giving a $30 tip for a dance.

Do you guys generally round up or make sure you have the correct change for any situation?

I always have the correct change but don't mind rounding up if it was a great time. It's bad form to make the dancer play cashier.

Using paper money to the extent that we in the United States do is a purely American thing, and fairly recent in our history. The rest of the world, for the most part, uses coins the way we use paper. The reason for that is that it is far cheaper to do so for governments. Paper money on the whole last for 5 years, then gets destroyed. Coins can last 50 to 60 years in constant circulation. The paper vs. coin is a cultural thing with use. As Dr. Catfish pointed out, it has been tried twice in the last 25 years, and has flopped miserably. We just don't like coin change. Heck we have been bantering about getting rid of the penny, so our American culture is definitely rooted in the use of paper money.

I work in a very affluent area. The people who live here usually have two working parents in some sort of executive positions. Very many employ European Au Pairs to look after their 2.2 kids. When they come to my bar, they will leave like 10 dollars in quarters and other various coinages. Why? Because they are more culturally inclined to do so.

Try giving a dancer two Sacagawea’s or two Susan B. Anthony's next time and see what happens. They are entirely equivalent to a George Washington One Dollar, but Ill bet they don’t want it, or will give you flack. Do that sort of thing in the rest of the world, and its par for the course.

Thus ends Professor P. John's comparative cultures lesson for today. This will be on the final exam.

Side note... whenever I go to Canada, I become the best tipper ever!
    Luv,
    Amber
Which does beg the question that if I ever take off (eh ) for the Great White North, if I should even bother exchanging my currency for trips to the clubs, considering that my U.S. dollar is worth about $1.37 Canadian.

That would be a tip in itself.

It would be nice to be able to see the money and how much it is at the club. Reds, Yellows, Oranges would be great. I have had to tell drunk guys "No, honey you already paid me" when they have tried to pay me twice.

Also, on a recent trip a guy got pretty handsy down in Vip during the couch dance and gave me $50 for 2-$20 dances. I thought he was giving me extra for being so grabby so I put it in my purse. A minute later he says " um, can I have my change" so I count out the 10 ones in front of him and then he counts it out again to make sure I haven't ripped him off! Oh, and he let the third song go on for a minute before saying he had enough dances with the first two. Then he asked for my phone number.
