    Default Remebering names...

I'm okay at remembering names, but not great...
I try to repeat the guys name at least once in a conversation, but there have been those times when it seems like 5 seconds after a guy tells me his name, I can't remember what he said.
Usually, unless I'm really busy...as soon as I'm done talking with a guy or group of guys I'll go up to the DJ's booth and write down their names and what they're wearing, hair color, ect. so I can call them by name next time.

Anybody have any tips at something that helps you to remember people's names?

What's the best way to re-get a name if the 5 second memory lapse kicks in?

How insulted would you be if a dancer can't remember your name?... there's one guy... he comes in every week and I always reintroduce myself to him... I feel awful cause as soon as he says... "you did it again", I feel like an ass! LOL I wrote down what he looks like and his name, but I can't picture a face since last week.. got the name and description, but ... damn my memory!Plus, I've met alot of "tall, dark haired, goatee, glasses, pretty cute, 30-35ish" guys!!! How can I remember which one is which?? Aaarrrgggg... sometimes this job can get so confusing!! It's hard enough remembering my fake name.. nevermind 100 guys names! LOL

    Any tips, advice, input?

    Luv,
    Amber

Amber, that is just something you are born with! Some people remember names, dates, and other things while others cant remember the last time they took a shit. I really do not think there is a sure fire way to remember names, especially when you see so many people.

I'm bad with names to ,that's why I give people nicknames. It would be harder I think when you see a lot of people in a night.

    Amber read this site, http://www.psychwww.com/mtsite/remnames.html
I use a lot of these technics when I meet people on business trips. However for some reason, I never have trouble remembering dancers names

LMFAO @ Chuck!!! I never forget a good looking womans name! I just can't explain it other than if she interests me, I never forget. John, Harry, Bill or whatever is usually forgotten within 15 seconds if I'm at a party.

There are memory books out there. The techniques work. Using the principles applied, I learned to recite all 50 states in alphabetical order in about 5 minutes. Of course once I did it I never needed to use it. LOL. So it is long forgotten.

With names the most common is some kind of association or ryhme with the name to help you remember.

Amber: The first woman I ever bought a lapdance from calls me Paul, my name isn't Paul. It's been about 6 years now and 4 different clubs, she still calls me Paul...of course, I stopped buying dances from her 2 clubs ago.....

Amber - just acknowledge the fact that you can't remember names, and just call every guy "Rapunzel". I'm sure they won't mind.

I'm great at remembering faces... really great. Names.. well.. I have to either associate the name with something/one or say it enough times for it to stick in my memory.

If I don't remember your name.. I will be honest about it. "I'm sorry I forgot your name. It is me.. this job overloads my brain with names and hence that is the reason why I have forgotten yours. I'm great at remembering faces tho'.. so I will recognise you when you next visit" :-) Most people understand.. some even then say.. "Yeah.. I can relate" etc. If I'm a little tired (for whatever reason) I will say that as well.. but always put a positive spin on it.

Fish, actually you should share that book with some of our newbie SCJunkies here. When their dancer works them thru a succession of grinding laps and they feel themselves getting to the point of no return, they can recite those states backwards and forwards a couple of times. That should cool the ol libido LOL They can only do 49 states tho, if they think of RI (and thusly Amber) they're in big trouble

Amber, when you forget a customer's name just giggle about having a "blonde moment" and tell them you still remember how to give an awesome LD and I'm sure they'll smile and forgive you.

I am the same way Amber. I don't remember a customers name unless I see him about five times! LOL! So I just call him sweetie or hon or some kind of pet name and they seem to like that better anyway.

But it does make a big impression when a customer's name is remembered. My ATF became my ATF when, after seeing her only once before, I saw her again 4 month's later and she came up from behind and said, "Hi Mike. Where have you been for so long?"

I think what Money said is pretty correct. You're born with it. Excuse me, but I need to go take a shit. Wait.... didn't I already do that today??? Or did I?

I think it is something that can be learned with proper motivation. If you want to remember you do. (good looking women. LOL) It is worth the effort. Everyone likes to be called by name. All girls at my club routinely use some term of endearment to save themselves the trouble. I was really impressed when a girl asked my name while sittin g at the stage and remembered 3 hours later. That usually doesn't happen. She still remembered 3 weeks later. Even more impressive. She got some dances for her efforts. By contrast, my ATF has called me by name maybe twice in 10 months. More if you count PMs and e-mails. It would be nice to hear my name used more often.

Hell Fishnet, with all of the pictures you leave with her, your ATF probably thinks your name is Ben Franklin

Amber..here is something my manager helped me with a long time ago..when you meet someone for the first time and they tell you their name, IMEADIATLY think of something that resembles his likeness that RHYMES with his name ..."slim jim, tall paul, snobby bobby, or anything that you can tack on to help identify. Then, during the conversation, make sure you say his name at least 3-4 times, this helps to reinforce it. Hopefully you will remember it, especially after performing a private dance, "((Tall)) Paul, would you like one more?" If you think he will be back in again, write notes about the men you meet that really liked you and keep it in your locker, one of my notes reads: Don, from Boulder, heavyset, glasses, brown hair,is an x-ray technichian, has older brother who does cat scans in Denver. My locker "neighbor and I have long lists, and they have paid off . If you are really stuck on a name, ask the waitress or manager to get their name, then have them tell it to you, so you can walk right up to him and say "Welcome back (Paul)!"

I'm pretty sure this one dancer forgot my name, I never heard her use it once during 3 months of buying dances. Didn't bother me much, names are hard, and she remembered other things I wouldn't expect.

I told her my birthday was coming up, and she said she'd get me a card, so I figured I'd better find a way to remind her to avoid an awkward situation.

So when I was picking up my pager after our dance, I said something like "this thing...server goes down, page 'paul', switch goes down, page paul," then she says "anything goes wrong page paul." She has always called me by name since then, even 9 months later
