Default Any Strip Club Pet Peeves

Every message board needs a good rant thread so I thought I'd start one.

I love strip clubs, but aren't there some things about them that drive you nuts?!

Here's five things that I wish would change:

    1. "VIP rooms" "champagne rooms" etc. GET RID OF THEM! Everyone knows that for the most part, they're a rip off, regardless of whether they're in Las Vegas or Topeka. And for different reasons, I know a lot of the Stripperweb gals hate them.

    2. Incoherent music. Where do some of the DJ's find this shit?! I don't mind a little electronica and hip hop but my God, mix it up a little with some classic rock, 80's rock music, etc.

    3. Stupid promotions. Or even OK promotions that are not professionally done. These could be bad features, oil wrestling, auctioning of undergarments that the dancers wore for all of three minutes (what am I gonna do with that bra or panties when I get home?).

    4. Creating a "PaRtY!" atmosphere. If I wanted to party, I'd go to a dance club or an actual party! When I come to the club, I'm tired from a ong stressful week of work and I want to RELAX and enjoy being entertained by the girls. I do not want to act like Al Bundy and the No Ma'am guys at the Jiggly Room! Real strip club customers do not act like that!!

    5. Anything that's not on the level. This could include watered down drinks, and dance specials that are well, not that special. Anyone ever had the notorious 2-for-1 dance that suddenly was no longer 2-for-1 once you were finished? Too late to complain then unless you want to be shown the door for not paying up. Seedy adult business or not, honesty STILL is the best policy.

Just was wondering what the rest of you could add to my list. Go with your gut. You too ladies!

1 drink minimums, why not just charge more at the door instead? Every time you move to a different part of the club the waitress thinks you just walked in and tries to sell you another drink!

Restroom attendants, costs me $1 to take a leak (often, due to buying too many drinks).

DJ's who talk too much, straight out of the 'Museum of Annoying Guys' (that was a bit on 'The Man Show' once). I don't care for most of the music either, but being a pretentious progressive rock musician I don't expect to.

Valets, I drive a $40k sports car, they should be paying me.

And of course just like everybody else, I wish the other customers would just go away

I kind of dig the VIP room though.

    Music that sucks.

Dancers who ignore female customers. (Their loss - I spend my money on girls who acknowledge me. And being a stripper myself, when I go on a pleasure trip as a customer, I usually tip QUITE well).

    Weak or overpriced drinks.

Bartenders asking me if I want to audition when I am there as a patron.

Male customers attempting to solicit dates or acts of prostitution from me when I am at a club as a patron.

The bouncers who refuse to do anything about said obnoxious males.

    Uncomfortable seating.

Seating so comfortable I don't want to get up to go to the stage.

    Slow or moronic cocktail waitresses.

Cocktail waitresses who "artificially inflate" drink prices to ensure a tip. (I almost always tip unless the service sucked.)

Juice bar strip joints with outrageously high covers to make up for the lack of alcohol sales.

Overpriced lap dances (If a place wants to charge $25 for a lap dance, when I can get the exact same thing with equal or prettier dancers at another club for $20, well.... you do the math....)

Places that charge for running a credit card tab or processing a credit card for the cost of drinks. (If I wanted to waste my time with finding one of my bank's ATMs, or if I wanted to waste my money by paying the fee to use the ATM within the club, I would have already done so. The cash I have on hand is what I brought to spend on the LADIES, not the bar...)

Dancers and cocktail waitresses who try nagging me into drinking more, buying drinks for others, buying lap dances, or going to the stage. (It is one thing to ask - asking does not hurt. It is another to nag, and it will piss me off and cause me to leave.)

DANCERS WHO WHINE! (It is one thing to tell me you are having a bad/slow/off night; being a fellow dancer, I understand these things and do not personally mind. I may even ask what's wrong. But whining about it, asking me to solve it for you by padding your garter, or anything beyond the straight and simple will cause me to first lodge a complaint with whoever is in charge, and then leave.)

A lack of parking, or parking that requires a 5 minute hike to the door.

Most of my pet peeves have already been mentioned.

    1. The restroom attentdants - absolutely worthless

    2. Special promotions - I don't need another t-shirt with your name on it.

    3. D.J. talking too much - dj's to get people to buy dances using phases like "must be a lot of homos out there" or other simuliar statements. One time may be o.k. but numerous gets old.

    4. $2 bills. One club I go to all change is given in $2 bills and if you ask for 1's instead they make a big ordeal out of it(the waitress does not have any 1's, at the bar they make you wait beacause they have to get them out of the safe) As a result I usually leave the club with a couple 2's put them on my dresser(beause I can't spend them anywhere else) then forget about them the next time I go to the club. I may have 10-12 $2 bills on my dresser.

4.(Maybe this should be in an extras thread, but..) I was going to leave dancers out of this but since DJ's were brought up on the post above I guess they are fair game. Dancers during private dances either pulling up my shirt or asking me to take it off and then sucking on my nipples. That does nothing for me other than make me feel uncomfortable. I never hear anyone talking about before, but it has happened to me several times with different dancers so I know I am not alone.

5.Finally, not really a pet peeve, but dancers slapping themselves on the ass. I know it has been brought up before, but it just does not do anything for me.

I agree with the ass slapping. Is that supposed to be a turn on, because it isn’t. Unless its two girls slapping each others ass, then maybe.

On a similar note, girls who slam their shoes into the stage. Hard to describe if you haven’t seen it, but picture the dancer laying on he back, legs bent back over her chest, an she will slam her shoes/feet into the stage over her head. Ya, thats great your flexible, nifty, but you don't need to smack the stage for us guys to notice it.

And last, when I am getting a dance, I really don't care for the girl to remove my belt or untuck my shirt (and no it wasn't for any sort of extras). If I came to a club dressed nice, I don’t want to have to go fix it after a 5 minute dance.

Finally, when a dancer sits next to you and within seconds a waitress is there asking if you would like to buy the dancer a drink. I know this is so that a club can make some cash, but I am not going to buy every dancer who sits next to me a drink. If she has been sitting for a bit, and I have expressed any sort of interest that’s one thing, but the moment they sit down, getting hassled about drinks is annoying.

just to add a few more:

    1) the girl at the door who expects a tip for collecting your cover charge.

    2) dancers who want to start a lap dance half way through a song.

    3) dancers who won't take NO for an answer.

    4) bachelor parties, I really have no desire to see another bachelor embarrassed in front of his friends, it brings the whole club to a grinding halt.

The "wanna dance" sales pitch is at the top of my list. It occurs mostly in juice bars though I've been approached in topless clubs as well. Bottomline, if the girl doesn't bother to invest a couple of minutes of friendly chatter, she won't have my business.

At a club I used to work at....

Waitress will haggle customer to buy ladies drink EVERYTIME a different dancer sits with him even for just a second.

30 minute champagne room deals that can run $300 -$400. Lord forbid that a dancer don't PUSH the sale on the customer. That makes it highly impossible for the customer to spend $$$ on different VARIETY of dancers.

Credit card system for funny money will cost lots more than the amout the customer ordered.

Music too loud that you can't hold a desent conversation.

DJs talking to much and are obnoxious.

Door person and bouncer wants tip for letting you in the LD booth.

    House fees are high

Yeah, I made good money, but the customer base was very few because of the high hustle factor and THAT freaks out customers from coming back. Why I worked there a long time is beyond me! ???

    -----------------------------------------------------------

The club I work since last July has NO pet peeves as the one above. I like my current club A LOT!

    NO hustling dancers drinks.

NO hustling 30 minute ($300-$400) champagne room deals. The customer has the option to buy one or more single song dances on different VARIETY of dancers and they can stay a while.

NO credit card system for funny money. Use ATM or better yet, come prepared with lots-o-cash.

You can actually hold a decent conversaton because the music is not to loud.

NO loud / obnoxious DJs to deal with. We have a juke box system.

Doorperson / bouncer never ask for tip to let you in the door / LD booth.

    House fee is VERY reasonable.

I STILL make good money, because the customer is NOT freaked out about high hustle factor, therefore they can and want to stay and get dances and come back to the club on their next outing.

    1) Being approached by 2 dancers who insist I get a dance with both of them at the same time. I prefer one at a time.

    2) A dancer who demands "give me love, put a ten right here."

    3) Loud, distorted music. So loud that my body is vibrating to the beat.

    4) Dancers that don't complete champagne rooms or are absent for long time. Other dancers "friends" of the absent dancer who fill in for her. Both the absent dancer and her "friend" expect to receive payment for the full champagne room. So you'd pay twice as much and not get what you wanted.

    5) Bad champagne.

Intemperate climate control. Yes, I understand that they like the place kept cool so our nipples will be hard all the time. But there is a difference between air conditioning, and attempting to initiate the next Ice Age. When even the people wearing clothes are complaining, it's time to ease off the A/C just a bit.

Last night I thought I would give a brand new club a visit. This club was very nice inside and out, it is part of The Penthouse Key Club Chain. About 15 minutes after I get there they run one these 2 for 1 + plus a shirt promo(pet peeve #1), but I am a sucker for a pretty face and got talked into it. We went to a different area of the club to a little booth were I had to pay the club upfront for the dances(pet peeve #2) of cource I had to tip the lady at the booth.

We are sent to this room just big enough for a couch. The dancer closes the door and no music could be heard. There was this box on the wall kind of a mini jukebox. You pick the type of music you like(rock, techno, r&b, etc) then you have to pay $2 per song to get your music(new pet peeve #3). If I have to pay for music I should at least get to pick the song not just the type. To make matters worse the the song gets cut barely past the middle(pet peeve #4). I think it will be awhile before I go back.

P.S. The "free" shirt I got actualy had zipper on the front circa 1977. Too bad it did not have the big ring on the zipper. I loved that shirt when I was six.

    1) Being offered a really hot private dance, then not delivering it; 2) Being charged extra once inside the booth or room, after paying the stated charge . Definitely I'd rather be told upfront how much I have to spend and what to expect from the dancer.

Another one on the top of my list is when a dancer approaches me while I'm at the tip rail. It wasn't too long ago that a dancer wouldn't approach a customer who was sitting at the stage. It's just not proper etiquette. Sadly, it's no longer practiced in most clubs from my experience. Hussling customers at the tiprail is now the norm.

For one, if I was ready for a dance, I wouldn't be sitting at the stage. More important, it's rude to the dancer onstage because you're distracting her performance. Once she's done onstage, and I leave the tiprail, by all means approach me.

Over priced dances: I'm not talking about $10-$25 dances, I'm talking about $40-$50 for 2 minutes.

Cut songs!!!!!!!: Play a song. Play half a song. But don't play 1.5-2 minutes and call that a song.

Tip demanders: Never had a dancer demand a tip...but I have had waitresses. "You know a tip isn't included in that", while I was getting her tip ready.

Dancers who stay away from couples: "Hey! We've got green dollars too!"

Taking off clothes at the beginning of a lap: Not stripping, just getting naked and then dancing...I want to see you strip.

Features who have others pick up their tips: Just lame...I'll save my dollars for someone who'll give me attention.

Dancers who look similar in the dark lighting and wear the same color clothes: "Hi, I wanted a...umm...nevermind."

Loud lappers: This ain't a porno.

I'm sure there are more....but I've gotta run!

Btw, witt, $2 bills!!! Too funny!
We all imagine ourselves the agents of our destiny, capable of determining our own fate. But have we truly any choice in when we rise, or when we fall, or does a force larger than ourselves bid us our direction. Is it evolution that takes us by the hand, does Science point our way, or is it God who intervenes keeping us safe.

So much struggle for meaning, for purpose. And in the end, we find it only in each other. Our shared experience of the fantastic. And the mundane. The simple human need to find a kindred, to connect. And to know in our hearts... that we are not alone.

I think most of my pet peeves have been listed, but there is one. I went to a club last week and one of the dancers told me to buy a dance because she needed to buy her math book. Give me a break. I know it was slow night (why I go, more attention) but spare me the lame excuses.

Okay guys, how many times have you told a dancer when asked for a dance, "Maybe Later" and never do. I guess it works the same with their "I'll be back" and never do.

Pryce you brought up an interesting point-about undressing before a lap (which honestly is what I tend to do at my club) I guess I've always thought I was thinking via a guys perspective in that you have a whopping 3 or so minutes, and they wouldn't want to spend half of that with me dressed. I figured they would be upset if I took my time undressing as I was on "their dollar" so to speak. Gave me something to think about... although I wonder if there is a middle ground whereas guys that enjoy the art of stripping can be happy as well as those that view it as they're paying for a nude dance... hmmmm

    >>"and the restroom attendant is the major one. I do NOT understand it. I need help in many areas of my life, but urinating is not one of them."

i have never laughed so hard at any one statement i've ever seen on any forum then this one. i very nearly peed myself (luckily, the computer is about a 3 second dash from the potty at a dead sprint).

    anywho...

pretty much everything already stated i'm in agreement with. got a few to add though...

    1. those obnoxious customers (usually in a group) that think it's amusing to say "uh oh, incoming!" when approached by a dancer as if she was a grenade or a nuclear warhead.

    2. dancers that think stripping is throwing off their clothes like they're in the dressing room at the department store.

    3. the Clydesdale Clomp - ok, it's inevitable that your shoes will make some bit of noise on stage, but what is with those girls that stomp around like they're trudging through a field of mud in their big brother's steel-toed hiking boots? if you can't even WALK like a woman don't be a dancer... stick to the hiking boots and take up farming.

Funny that the restroom attendant has come up a lot!

Some of the clubs I go to could use one! Some barely have a restroom. Truthfully, I've seen cleaner johns in public parks. Although, you'd have to pay me damn good money to clean the men's restroom at an adult business.

    Here's a few more gripes:

    * Dancers who give lap dances whose mouths are practically pickled from too much alcohol (although a lot of dancers would make that same complaint about drunken customers).

    * Strobe lights! "AUUGGHH! I'm blind!!" Nothing could be worse than having one of those suckers flashing in a room with mirrored walls.

    * Clubs that are so dark you can't see three feet in front of you. Sure it helps with the stage lighting, but with the mirrored walls it's hard to tell what's real and what's a reflection.

    * Redneck customers. By "redneck", I'm not in any way referring to guys from the South. Just guys whom act like neanderthal jackasses and don't care about making a scene in front of everybody. You can find those most anywhere. Some even wear suits.

    * A trip where things just don't go as planned.

Once I drove an hour to a club to have a nice RELAXING time, only to find out I stopped in town the same weekend as a big NHRA drag racing event at a nearby racetrack (which even worse was rained out).

Nonetheless, the place was packed with "rednecks*" (*see previous rant) wall to wall. After standing holding my drink for about 30 minutes, I had enough. All I could do was laugh (and LEAVE). Nobody's fault. Just one of those things.

    I have a couple...

    1. Dancers who sneak up behind you. I'm kind of jumpy and it scares the hell out of me. I seldom say yes to this tactic.

    2. Dancers who are pushy. No means No. I especially dislike it when they try to push the most expensive option and promise "Oh I'm the best" or something.

    3. Dancers who disappear into the dressing room, not to be seen again. Or dancers who sit with some guy for like an hour. Let's share the wealth!

    And believe it or not.
    4. I don't like being kissed on the lips. I've had that happen a few times in a teasing manner. The problem is I either am really turned off by them, or I'm really turned on by them and I suddenly have this desire to do things I'm sure I'm going to get in trouble for. That latter is really frustrating!
