    Default Overhead...

This one is for dancers and customers. I was talking to a club bud today and the subject of overhead came up.

At my club the rent for the dancers is $35. It's more if they come in late. By the time they tip out, they don't go into the black till after the first $100.

My overhead... the price of walking in the door is just as bad.

    Last trip...

$19 cover and unlimited drinks. (juice bar)
    $5 VIP band
    $5+ Door girl
    $5+ Bathroom Attendant
    $20+ Favorite Waitress
$20 DJ (For removing my girl from stage rotation)
    $40 Pre-pay video sales

With the dances I'm getting now, an additional $10-$20 will probably have to start going to the bouncers. Yes my girl covers them at tip out. I want to make sure I stay out of trouble and on their good side. LOL.

Note the above doesn't include tip rail or actual dance money.

If you are a dancer, at what point do you go in the black? As a customer, what does it cost you walking in the door for all the incidentals before tip rail and dances?

LOL...as bad as mine is, FBR's is probably worse. He runs a bar tab for the flock every visit.

Since my club charges a low house fee and takes a cut of everything we do - lapdances and VIPs - I'm technically in the black after selling 2 dances. House fee is $25, and I generally tip the upstairs bouncer (the one covering lap and VIP rooms) $5 if he doesn't 'do anything' for me. I tip the DJ out of my stage tips - if it's early and I only make $2, he gets $1-2, depending on my mood, then I'll tip him as much as $10 per set after that, depending on how much I made. I tip the bouncers more for pointing me to paying customers or helping me sell VIPs.

If I were to add up all I hand out, including average tips and club cuts of my dances and VIPs, it's WAY more than I want to think about. Figure on an average night with, say 2 VIPs and 5 dances, I'd tip the upstairs guy $5-20, depending on whether he helped me sell those dances or not; $5 to the guy downstairs; around $20 to the DJ; $25 to the house, plus $50 of my dances and $204 of my VIPs; plus $1 to the bartender for that first water I order - for a total of about $310-325, which would be just about equal to what I'd carry out myself.

But since all those costs, except $25 house fee, DJ minimum of $10 and $1 bar tip for my water, are dependent on my making money, I can't count it like that. In reality I am only in the hole $36 when I walk in the door. Everything else is relative.

    ---------Added:
I have worked in many clubs where my cost was $100 just to walk in the door. And I've also worked in a few where my cost to enter was $20. I found that my earnings didn't really change that much in relation to overhead, most of the time. In the small cheap clubs I always tended to grossly outsell most of the other girls. In the nicer more expensive clubs, I would be a top earner or close to it, but there is a ceiling in earnings potential in this business (also earnings are more hit and miss in the upscale places, bringing the overall average down), and the only way I could see I might be able to make more money would be to go to a REALLY topshelf club like in NY. Of course then my entrance costs would triple anything I've ever paid before!

I might also add that in the clubs where the cost is always the same, like where it always cost me $100 to work including house fees and tipouts, when you have a good night it is nice being able to keep more of your money. In my current situation, it is nice that I don't have to pay much if I have a crappy night, but when I have a good one, I wind up taking WAY less than what I sold. It's a trade-off. I think this way the club does actually get more of 'my' money than if I had to always pay $100, but the fact that it's easier to have more good nights here makes up for that!

Ouch! Bridgette, it sounds like they a killing you. 50% of the total is way too much.

EH, I propbably should have posted this.www.janacat.com She is the usual Sat. door girl. LOL. My favorite waitress is even hotter! (IMHO)

Although tipping my girl out of the stage rotation and prepaying video sales results in more time with her, as a self confessed fucko, I've decided it's cruel having her go on stage or walk off during a video sales. I've seen the reactions. LOL. Jaws dropping, tongues hitting the floor, guys jumping up, pointing, hooting and hollering. It's better if they don't know what they are missing. She can't even make it from the VIP to the bathroom and back without being asked for dances. :o No point in putting her in the position of having to turn even more guys down. I may be a fucko but I'm a compassionate one. LOL.

Well hold on to your hat. That is just an average night. On a good night, they get even more than 50%.

Take last Friday night for example, I sold:
    1 lapdance $33 ($3 cc fee)
    4 VIP - minimum $848 ($48 cc fee)
    1 VIP - midprice $465 ($15 cc fee)
    1 VIP - topshelf $930 ($30 cc fee)
    Total $2276

That night I only had to go onstage twice - the manager let me skip later on because I had this customer spending all that money. My lapdance commission and stage tips covered my house fee and tipouts. I also gave the upstairs bouncer an extra $40 of my funny money because he had to stay late for me and my customer (the club does not pay bouncers for staying late).

After the club's cut of my funny money, I walked with $801. 801 of 2276 is about 35%. The club kept $1346 of that, which is about 59%. The other almost 6% went for staff tips. And this is just a 'good' night. We're not even talking about a 'great' night, or a '[email protected]*&ing great' night. On those nights, my take is more in the neighborhood of 25%. I put up with it because I haven't found any other club to date where I can make that kind of $$ and more on a consistent basis, in a safe environment, in an area I like, AND have the luxury of an extremely low payout if I have a crappy night.

My one major gripe is that the club doesn't do nearly enough in the way of upkeep and advertising, considering all the money I watch them rake in, which means that kind of dancer earnings won't continue to be possible for much longer unless the club rules are relaxed to a level I am not comfortable with. (Guys who spend thousands in a night generally don't want to sit in a shithole) Then in that case, I don't see the kind of customers required for girls to make those kinds of sales frequenting the place as much as they do now, because with such relaxed rules will come police raids and busts, and the kind of customers who spend the big bucks don't want any part of that.

B, you mentioned your overhead trippling in NY. actually it would probably be even more than that.....heres my thoughts on it. Your income would go up in NY, as would your tipouts....but also, the cost of living in NYC(including north jersey and CT) im sure far exceeds that of PR. not sure what the traffic situation in PR is, but forget about having a car in NYC. so sure, the club takes more, but you can do a lot more with the money you bring home from a PR club then a NYC club.

lol, i feel bad after reading all this shit from everyone. heres my overhead.

i avoid clubs when they have a feature, since they do nothing for me, but mean jacking up the cost of admission.

entrance to club : $5, $7 or $10 depending on the club and night.
if the club has a nude room and i decide to go to that: $5 or $10 again, depending on the club and the night.

i dont really drink booze in SCs. might get a cranberry juice, snapple grapeaid, or soda. tip the bartender or waitress $1-$2. at nights in the clubs i go to, there is no drink minimum, so i dont nescesarilly have to pay that.

anyway, thats it. so anywhere from $5 to $22(rare, usually more in the $12 range).

i almost forgot....theres one club that has a bathroom attendant. i wash my hands a lot(and i pee everynow and then too). so if its that club, add another $3-$5 on for him and his magical treats. (its great that he has eye drops. smoke kills my eyes).

Hmm, I'm not so sure. We get alot of New Yorkers who are SHOCKED at the prices here. Cars generally cost about 25-30% more here than in the states, gas is alot higher, real estate is high, rent is high, grocery bill is about 3 times what I've ever paid in the states. I think my expenses here, while maybe not equal, are probably not too far off what I'd have to pay to live in NY. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in any hurry to take on the expense of living in NYC, but it's definitely not as cheap here as you think.

-------Add: Oh, and I forgot about having a car here a long time ago. Traffic is RETARDED here. Worst I've ever seen, and I've driven in NYC.

im not saying its cheap to live in PR, just that it would have to be cheaper to live there than NYC area. As well as cheaper than San Fran or Boston. it may have a higher cost of living in comparisson to other places you've been, but i really dont think it can compare to those three. granted, ive never been to PR. And i'm guessing you're not living in a slum, and yes, i know that you'd have to import a lot of items from the mainland which tacks on extra costs.....but theres no way housing is more in PR.

    is there sales tax there?

gonna add this now.....fun tool from monster.com http://salary.monster.com/CostOfLivi...coll_start.asp

cost of living in newyork city is 108% higher than in san juan. only like 30% if compared to newark, nj(mmmmmm, fabulous newark).

    Low overhead for me.

Cover=$0-10 (depending upon club/time of day/day of week).
Door Girl=$1-5 (depends on how much the cover is).
Restroom Flunky=if there is one working it's usually $1 per restroom visit (although it's very reluctantly).

Waitresses get tipped per drink so I don't know if I would consider that to be overhead, sometimes I drink a lot, sometimes I don't, so it will vary.

Everything else goes to the dancers .

Nice door girl by the way fish, why isn't she dancing?

In my case, I try not to be loyal to one specific club, well that's in theory, but there's one local club that I do frequent more often than the others... it's a topless club in Nevada:

    $10 - cover
    $30 - 4 beers w/ tip
    $3 - bathroom guy
$9-20 - There are a couple of dancers I don't mind buying drinks for

I want to visit Bridgette's club. My Capitalist Dog competitive streak is drooling at the thought of racking up $2300 in sales on a good night.

My work overhead (not including costumes in a club very focused on glitz and glam) is as follows:

$15 minimum bar fee, goes up the later you are ready. And you must be ready, as in on the floor and ready for stage, not just physically in the bar.
10% minimum to the great DJ, 10% maximum to DJ Dipshit
$5 per dance to the house
$1 per hundred in earnings to each bouncer, $2 minimum
$1 per dance to the VIP bouncer, more if I get tipped or require his services.
$1 per soda to the bar.

The typical payout is anywhere from $80-$200, depending upon how much I made.

    I'm grateful for funky places:

    * no cover (free lifetime VIP for bringing in two new dancers)

    * $3 tip on $3 pitcher of cranberry/orange juice

    * paper towels, no men's room attendant

Fish, you outspend ol' FBR and you know it

Im fortunate not to have to deal with tipping DJ's and Restroom Trolls. Our cover is only $5 and you can even beat that if you get in before 7PM (except on weekends). Alas, the bar tab can be a bit much but the flockettes appreciate and deserve it I do tip all the waitresses at least $10 each even though they are not serving me. Invariably, I run up to the bar for change sometime during the evening and wind up taking care of the barmaid as well.

My average nite runs about $400 for dances and tips. The bar tab maybe $90 to $200 depending if its a quiet nite mostly with Miss B or a raucous evening with a table full of flockettes I go prepared moneywise for the worst (or best depending on how you look at it)

    FBR
Once again I have embraced my addiction and have put off the moral dilemma to another day.

Damn, my overhead is so much simpler.

    $5 cover
    $4-5/each soda + waitress tip

...and when I want to have some chat with one of my favs

    $10 and up dancer drink

But thats not often, I'd just as soon go straight to doing dances after the gal has given me the requisite eight minutes to get acquainted.

The door girls where I go are great, most are very attractive (although not in the league of fish's door girl), they break my larger bills for me, they give me VIP passes (some even let me in for free w/o a VIP pass ). I have found that it sometimes pays to grease the wheel at the front door.

I'm lost with all this tipping door girls and guys in the bath room. What is a door girl and whats the guy doing in the bathroom? The club I go to is damn cheap compared to the above posts.
$13 to get in and thats all you can drink soda. (18 and up no booze) Or $20 for vip wrist band includes entry and bottomless drink. Tip the waitress a buck for every drink. I have never heard of tipping the dj to take your atf out of rotation. I don't know if you can do this at this club.
$15 a topless couch dance but give her $20 ( per dance). $15 to $30 in the vip per dance + $5 on top for tip. I think thats about it.
    WOW Jana cat is wow.
