    Default Loaning money...

I've been asked to loan money to a dancer again. It seems to be quite a common dancer/customer thing, but I did a search on this site and didn't come up with much. So I was wondering, how many of you out there have been asked for a loan? And did you loan the money? Did you get it back? Did you expect to get it back? Why are dancers asking for loans anyways, I thought most of them make decent money? Why is she asking *me* for, does she think we really get along well, or do I look like that much of a chump? :

Well "chump" errr.. I mean Sleepy. I guess she takes you for an easy mark.
Now that doesn't mean she won't give it back to you. After all I remember reading about a guy who was struck by lightning 4 times in one day... so strange things do happen

I'm pretty sure there is a thread on this somewhere here, I'd advise you to only make the "loan" if it is money you absolutely don't need because the chances of you getting it back are very slim.

I did it once because she was a friend of the ATF and the people were selling stripperware out of the back room and she just got there and didnt have the cash. The ATF wasnt there that night so I had extra left on me. It wasnt a lot, I didnt expect to get it back (and I didnt), but I told her it was a loan to see what she would do. Later that night she did ask if she could 'work off the loan', but I didnt want the dances. (I still dont hear the end of that). So I will never know if my not wanting dances from her made her not pay me back or what.

So as said above, dont loan it if you need it. and dont expect it back (not implying all dancers are like this, just the ones I have dealt with).

Topic: Most you've ever owed a dancer - that was probably the closest we came to the subject in the past.

no, that wasn't part of the deal. i don't exactly loan money to dancers. in any case, it's more of a "trade" rather than a loan .

in general, there are plenty of people with high incomes (on paper) who live beyond their means. in the case of strippers, you have to remember it's a cash business, mixed in a dash of youth, immaturity, and financial irresponsibility and it's a recipe for disaster. a stripper can walk into a club flat broke and walk out later with $500, blow it all later that night or the next day and do it all over again, if she feels like going to work the next day or the day after or next week . unfortunately, by the time she realizes how flakey she's been for the last 5 or 10 years ( her peak earning years may be behind her), it may be a little too late to plan that graceful exit from the business.

you're not a chump. she could have asked any guy in the club, but she asked you. you know what that tells me, sleepy? that tells me that she thinks you're special and so different from the the other customers.

I *knew* it! Thanks Mr. Punk! I'm getting my chequebook right now.

Another question. What happened between you and the dancer after you denied the request? Bitterness? Business as usual?

you know, i was a shitty shot with an m-16 and did not qualify for a combat unit, but shit, if i knew that in addition to arab terrorists out there, there is a board of fuckoes asskissing dancers, i would have spent more time in target practice with my weapon. - cerahas

Been hinted at by a dancer here and there that she needed money. Each time, I expressed sympathy and the hope that she would get it.

It's not my place to say you're a chump, even if that's what you're looking for.

I've never been asked but I have offered twice ( same dancer) and was paid back both times. Honestly, I didn't expect to ever see it again and I was pleasantly surprised when I did.

there was only one instance where i denied a "loan" to a dancer. she actually thought that paying me back in free drinks when she finished bartending school (the reason she wanted the loan) was the deal of the century. much to her surprise, i disabused her of that notion real quick. in any case, after my refusal. i always spoke to her, but she pretty much had sulked everytime she saw me. i guess she was still angry at the callous attitude i displayed when i laughed at her proposal and laughed even harder when she started crying. i didn't see it that way. funny strippers are so difficult to find these days.

Actually I offered to loan her money to pay off the remaining balance on the credit cards, so that she could stop dancing.
She turned me down. That's about the time we went out to dinner and lunch, but didn't know where she lived. didn't charge me for her time (I didn't offer), and turned down offers to buy her stuff. (I did offer.) She recently accepted DVD movies and flowers for valentines day, but she doesn't dance anymore. To say we have an unusual relationship would be an understatement.

What she did instead was continue to dance and pay down debt, and I would show up and rent her for three or four hours a night. However I wasn't always around.

This makes me a prime fuckoe. One who offers to provide a loan but is turned down.

Yes, dancers sometimes make a lot of money but what people fail to realize is that it costs a lot of money to support her boyfriend's crack habit.

C'mon ML, it doesn't have to be a crack habit, you could be supporting his total irresponsibility, which I've seen many times. Why should he do any of the work, when you are already doing it and he reaps the benefits!?
