    Default Childless Homemakers

I posted this on the pink site but I am also curious to get the guys perspective too.

Whats ur take on stay at home wives w/o kids ?

What do u think general society thinks of women who chose to take of their husbands (no kids by choice) and home rather than have a career ?

an Enquiring Mind would like to know

This may sound a bit cold but I think devoting your entire life to doting over another presumeably self-sufficient human being is going to bite you in the ass sooner or later. If it makes you both happy so be it but, I think, sooner or later, the woman is going to realize she missed out on some things (maybe when the hubby runs off with another woman) that she may have enjoyed-like being self-sufficient for one thing.

I'd like to be making enough so that my wife had the option to stay at home if she wanted to do so. Right now, we keep our standard of living because she works. And, if she was stay at home, I'd expect her to at least make sure the dishes, laundry and cleaning were done.

And I'd also expect her to have the ambition to want to do some sort of work anyway, even if its working from out of the house.

I would be perfectly happy to not have to work for a living.....Hence, I am a stripper, hahahaha!!

Besides a clean house, I would imagine a stay home wife would have to look hot and be willing at all times....bleh...single I stay....

I'm all for fulfillment and self-improvement. If taking care of a home is fulfillment for a woman or a man, and the spouse makes that all possible, hey, great.

However, I don't think it would make for a particularly great relationship for me. I want a partner, not a dependent.

Mrs FBR was a stay at home mom and did a wonderful job raising the children while I worked like a madman. It was more than a full time job for her and no doubt her assuming that responsibility helped me devote the time to become successful in business. Now that the kids are pretty much grown, shes working part time. Frankly, shed be bored stiff if she was not working. You can only clean the house so much.

If done well that is a full time job and many people pay others to do those duties. Its called a housekeeper or maid depending on whichever title you prefer

Imagine if I came to work and turned in 40 hours for the week. They ask me what I did during those 40 hours. I reply, "Oh, I steam cleaned all of the carpets, vacuumed, swept, did the dishes and put them away, cleaned the restrooms, put some flowers and a candle in there, mailed the letters, sorted the incoming mail, umm... That's about it". They would fire me.
If those duties you listed were the job requirements then you'd have successfuly completed your job. Also running a household well takes alot more than 8 hours a week, the prep and cooking time alone would eat up 8 hours a week. I don't think I'd want to live in a house that was only managesd a few hours a week. It would be a dirty unorganized mess :o

I don't think its right to label stay at home partners as lazy considering the fact that if the person doing the cleaning, the shopping, the cooking, the laundry, the errands etc were not your wife, or husband in some cases, you'd be paying them for doing the exact same things.
So how is it lazy for a wife to be doing the exact same things that you'd call a job for someone else ?

    Just my 2 cents

I am here to apply for the position of childless moneyspender.

There are sooo sooo many things to do in a week if you didn't have to work and had plenty of money.......I am lazy, flakey, hate cleaning, am a terrible cook, and have 0 decorating ability. But, I promise to workout 8 hours a day, hire the best staff to take care of household duties, and promise to fuck on call, and to recruit sexy girlfriends for all of your 3some fantasy fullfilment. I am perfect for the position.

    Am I hired?

Sounds like a personal choice, no right or wrong way. If that makes a couple happy, then a woman staying at home is fine. If both want to work, nothing wrong there either. To each their own.

I don't know what the rest of society thinks of a woman that chooses to become a homemaker instead of a mother or career woman but I say as long as it is agreed within the union it is okay.
You should only have children if you want to have them. If a persons growth is enhanced by a career then they should be allowed to pursue it.
Marriages are supposed to be complimentary to each other , not detrimental.

Hmmm...it may involve moving into a smaller house, and there's gonna be a tough convo with Mrs. J, and some of those sexy girlfriends better be tall redheads...and I think I can arrange all of that.

a well to do guy i know told me he believes his woman shouldn't work but he liked independent women.
major contradiction. if a man makes all the money, then he has control over everything and the minute he decides to act a fool the woman is left with zilch.

A woman could be a lazy housewife with 3 kids to care for or an ambitious housewife with no children. It depends on what level you are talking about.

Wife without children--Gourmet meals, gardening, social event planner, dinner parties, vacation planner, pristine house cleaner, budget and checkbook manager.

    or
Wife with 3 kids who barely takes care of them and the house is a pig sty.
