The pole to me has always been more of a prop than anything.
What makes money on stage is getting the customer's attention. Would I like to see dancer do something with the pole that requires some neurons? Sure, athleticness is sexy and I love to see a dancer put her gams to good use. Now would I recommend a gal do that for her entire stage set? Certainly not. If there's money on the rail, she should be going around to collect it, not focusing on the pole. The best time for a dancer to do some gymnastics is during the first song before she's peeled off her top. One pole trick per set, (two if its slow), should be plenty.
And don't get too strenous with it. Getting too involved can detract from interacting with the audience, not to mention increase your risk of injury. Its a strip club after all, not Cirque du Soleil.

I can't believe that mr_punk hasn't chimed in on pole tricks yet, I'm guessing he likes them. I'm guessing that isn't the type of pole you're referring to though. I actually enjoy a well done pole trick, just as long as they aren't overdone. One of my favorites will climb all the way to the top, hang down head first, and slides down real fast only to spin around just in time to sit up on the stage. It's pretty impressive, she always gets a tip from me for that. The pole alone won't determine how much I spend though.
My club won't let us go along the rail, DJ has occasionally said something over the mic like "gee, those girls must be REALLY fascinating" or something. So girls basically go up to two or three customers, do a pole trick or some floor work, go back to another small set of customers, do another trick, etc.

whew....thanks for clearing that up for me, RH. you stopped me from committing a faux pas. i was about to say that asian cowgirl was my favorite pole trick. seriously. occasionally, a pole trick might get my attention during a stage show. however, it has to be something that shows off some strength and flexibility. i remember getting a LD from a former gymnast who really performed some interesting pole tricks. during the LD, it was like having my own life sized action figure.Originally Posted by Richard_Head link=board=9;threadid=1458;start=msg22750#msg22750 date=1084322783

I happen to love pole tricks. For the most part, I don't think it makes much of a difference moneywise. The 2 girls that have earned the most from me on stage and in laps don't do pole tricks. There are 3 girls I know of at my club that I would condsider masters of the pole. I tip them all more than average. $10-$20. I only like one enough to have gotten dances and undoubtedly she will get some more.![]()

I think the pole tricks are just plain stupid. But then that's me. I guess some guys like that. I also think rolling around the floor is lame. Why would I want to dance with some girl that has been rolling around on the floor?
Other things I find to be completely silly include:
Slapping your own butt.
Putting a customers head between your breasts and shaking them hard from side to side. Does any really think this is sexy?
Taking the dollar with your breasts.
Making me put the dollar in the g-string and then letting the string snap.
Laying on your back, spreading eagle and smacking your shoes on the floor.
What works for me is stand up straight, proud, and sexy. Seductive dancing. Smiles. Stopping for a moment and greeting the customer and saying something nice about the customer's cologne, appearance, smile, whatever, that works.
If I want to see gymanstics I'll go the circus thank you. If I go to a SC it is to be near exceptionally sexy women. Gimmicks and pole tricks do nothing for me.
Stand up tall, look proud and sexy.
This I have to say, I've heard on more than one occasion. Many customers have told me to get off the floor and back onto their lap ! LOL!Originally Posted by Darren link=board=9;threadid=1458;start=msg22778#msg22778 date=1084405728
Agreed. This is about as unsexy as it gets and I've NEVER understood it myself (and hey, I'm a dancer). I don't even think it's funny. Just daft!Other things I find to be completely silly include:

Now, these are not sexy, but they sure as hell can be fun(ny)! Not everything must be sexy; girls who add humour to their routines also pull in the big bucks too!Putting a customers head between your breasts and shaking them hard from side to side. Does any really think this is sexy?

Banging shoes on the floor? Have I even seen this move? ???Laying on your back, spreading eagle and smacking your shoes on the floor.
I love the pole. It is an impressive tool which is great advertising for those who can use it. I doubt you can deny that it has gotten you someone's attention (even if you don't get a dance from her). But it gives her the chance to get herself noticed by her customers, even for future reference. What works for me is stand up straight, proud, and sexy. Seductive dancing. Smiles. Stopping for a moment and greeting the customer and saying something nice about the customer's cologne, appearance, smile, whatever, that works.

But everything else you said about standing up tall and being sexy is indeed what I do. I will pick doing that over being gimmicky (for want of a better word) any day. (although I do like to watch playful acts a lot! It can help break down a stressful night a work and definitely put a smile back on my face even!).

Malibu, I love that avatar, is that you by any chance?

I am admittedly probably not completely normal in my tastes. I certainly enjoy humor, but it seems so many dancers do the thing with shaking the boobies in the customers face or on his head and the other gimmicks... I guess it was funny or light-hearted once or twice, but anyway...Originally Posted by Malibu link=board=9;threadid=1458;start=msg22782#msg22782 date=1084423190
And yes, your absolutely correct that the pole tricks have gotten my attention, but I can't recall ever having paid for dances based on pole tricks. It ends up actually being a turn off. Why? Hmm, I guess again it's part of that fantasy thing... The girl that is overly funny or gimmicky (your word) might make me laugh or get my attention, but she doesn't stir my romantic or passionate fires (if you know what I mean). In real life the funny thing is cool, but in an SC everything moves kind of fast... time is short and I spend it on women that come across as romantic, passionate, or (on some occassions) devlishly sexy.
But again every guy is different.
Thanks RH! But I'm sorry to say that it's not me. I look more like her nemesis actually (black girl, black hair) but hopefully still as bootyliciousOriginally Posted by Richard_Head link=board=9;threadid=1458;start=msg22784#msg22784 date=1084424021

Screwing up pole tricks and falling on my head has gotten me fresh attention that led to dances, does that count? Hahahaha

One of my south american favs has a really cool pole trick... If I walk into the club while she's onstage, she grabs the pole with her left hand and begins to walk around it in very slow circles, all the while smiling and making serious eye contact. Each time she passes by me, the alternating views of her smiling face followed by her intoxicating Brazilian heiny slowly begin to awaken a strange sensation south of my equator. When she finishes her set, I take her upstairs to the PD area and the cash in my wallet magicaly appears in her garter... right before my eyes!!! Neat trick huh?!

If it's a good dancer with some athletic/gymnastic ability sure why not otherwise not really.
Yes, pole trick will get better tips from me. I feel a dancer who takes the time to learn and perfect pole tricks by far more professional.
