Default Moron blows $28K at Scores NYC, says He Was Scammed

Sounds like some moron who had too much to drink and doesn't want to take responsibility for his actions to me, but I'll give you the link and let you decide.

Thankfully unlike Mr. "40 grand and no hummer", this one had the sense not to spend it all on one girl.

And I won't make any trite remarks here about "upscale" clubs, as this could happen most anywhere, but this particular joint sure gets a lot of bad press for as much as people rave about it.

Way to go there Dr. Fish Can you say ANTAGONIZE.

But anyway back on topic now.

It will be interesting to see if this case actually goes to trial. I'm doubting it. I think a judge will laugh this man out of court considering the club has his signed receipts, which I bet include a thumb print as well. That's a common club policy to prevent this type of buyers remorse.

My favorite part of the article was: Blaser signed not one, but three credit card receipts through the night. And American Express conducted its own investigation and notified Scores on Jan. 22 that the charges were legitimate and the case was closed.

When will people learn that if they can't hang with the big dogs to stay on the porch .

I like this line from the article:

[Scores spokesperson Lonnie Hanover] said the club's policy is for the general manager to advise visitors when their bill tops $5,000, and to call American Express to authorize charges as they accrue.

As I recall, Katrine has a $5K limit for leading customers on. I think this is a number they teach business majors in Catholic universities. I don't think Harvard B School has a limit.

    funny.....especially this part:

For beginners, he said Blaser - chief financial officer of the Americas division of Swiss Re, the world's second-largest insurance company - ordered five magnums of Clos Du Mesnil Champagne, at $3,200 a pop.

    what a putz!!

If a neighborhood bar dancer would charge $40 to pee in a can of beer, what would an upscale dancer charge to adulterate a magnum of Clos Du Mesnil Champagne? Just wondering.

LOL...if he read SCJ, he would have known not to take his CC or ATM into the club.

LOL. I was going to make that exact same point. Had he been bright enough to find the SCJ board he would have become well versed in the do's and don't's of SC perusal and would have never blown his wad like that. My CC/ATM plastic stays in my wallet which stays in my car when I hit the club. My fave once asked why I don't bring it in. I just laughed and said "not everyone that enters those doors is a sucker".

My favorite spot at the bar has a nice vantage point to see the ATM machine. You would be amazed at how busy that thing stays. It's pure comedy... especially watching some guy get led like he's 4 yrs old making his very first bus ride every to school by his mommy (stripper).

    Great story Doc. Thanks.

unfortunately, he's not the only moron in a sc.

Hanover said Blaser charged $7,000 worth of Diamond Dollars - the club's currency - and he doled them out like candy for $20 lap dances. "At $7,000, he had a dozen girls hanging on to his words for several hours," Hanover said.

this guy must really like hearing the sound of his own voice. otherwise, if he read SCJ. he would have learned that it's not a good idea to pay for conversation with flaky strippers.

    oh brother

from the info in the article I'd say this guy hasn't a chance in hell. Sounds to me like he is the one trying to pull a scam.

I hope the judge sticks him with all the clubs legal fee's too just for trying to rip off the club.... I mean what else do you call it when you consume bottles n bottles of top shelf bubbly, get $7,000 worth dances and then try get out having to pay for it

My guess is he planned on crying wolf even before he stepped into Scores.

I can if you can say hypersensitive. If someone finds the posting of an innocent link to an article on a relavant topic antagonizing then well they’d probably best go take a lap. Its not worth getting their blood pressure up over.

    Here. Its on me: :

Or since you’re busy arguing with Punky in the other thread:

    : : : : : : : : : :

But you’re right, we should stay on topic.

I'd call it being a moron. Case in point (from the article) :

Hanover said Blaser charged $7,000 worth of Diamond Dollars - the club's currency - and he doled them out like candy for $20 lap dances. "At $7,000, he had a dozen girls hanging on to his words for several hours," Hanover said.

The upper East Side bachelor's lawyer, Leonard Zack, told the Daily News that Blaser was expecting a bill of about $2,000.

Now, you’d think someone buying funny money would notice the difference between $2000 and $7000. Who knows, maybe he swilled down all that $3200 champagne first. I’m just blown away by the fact that a bottle of champagne can cost more than my annual SC budget.

    Ya think?!

This certainly puts the $130 I dropped this afternoon on two favs in perspective for me....

What's funny/sad is that he's the husband of a diplomat from Bangladesh, and $129K is more than 80 times the average annual per capita income. :o

This is why I like Katrine. She won't take guys for more than $5K lifetime.

I think everyone mis-heard me. I won't take more than $5,000 from a man in a stripclub in a given night. Also, really patheric PLs who are falling in love get curtailed because I don't want to be stalked again.

Still, that's about 5k in a few hours. Afterwards, its anyone's game, I'm a capitalist....

Sheesh, you boys really want to believe what you want to belive.........lifetime cap, I'm not a health insurance company!

a 5k per sucker, per night limit? you know, i'm glad that you cleared that up for us, Katnip. now, it doesn't sound so much like an ATM withdrawal cycle or as mercenary as before. i'm sure the suckers (if they had any clue) would appreciate you taking such an appropriate action . seriously, you can really tell the difference that easily between a sc customer giving you 5k (or some lesser sum), vis-a-vis the really pathetic PL giving you 5k (or some lesser sum)?

Eh, you're probably right. I have warped scruples. Its just what works for me. I've walked away from PL's wanting to support me because I didn't like them anymore and they were getting on my nerves. Maybe they weren't wealthy enough?

I was chatting with an attorney in NYS about this. He said IF the guy was drunk and Scores knew it, AND could tell (or a reasonable person could tell) that he was in a diminished decision-making capacity, then:

    (1) the bar should have cut him off
    (2) the contract (the sale) is revokable in court

Yes, a drunk is responsible for their behavior. But one cannot take advantage of them when making a contract (sale). So IF the above are true, the guy has a case.

What Scores did as far as the contract stuff goes is not a penal offense, but the bar not cutting off a drunk could get them in a little trouble.
