Sad Long lasting lipstick ( do they work?)

You know those long lasting lipstick... the one that promise 12 hours cover!

does it work for any of you guys?

I love it to death... for like the first freaking hour than it starts cracking and getting all dry...

Anyone else got tips for this?

    Thanks mamas!

I think they all pretty much suck, they have the same consistency as my acrylic paint that I use for art.

They work positively wonderfully!! Providing that you don't talk, drink, kiss, work in an environment that is too hot/cold or dry...

I hate these lipsticks. $12 bucks for a lipstick that looks like desert ground 2 hours after I put it on is a waste of money. I'll stick with my lip gloss (Lip Venom) and Whipped Lip Gloss by Almay.

those tend to look like they are paint peeling off my lips after drinking or even talking after a couple of minutes.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

I know they peel i hear alot. I don't really wear lipstick, i use a pencil liner, with a touch of gloss on my lips, that works fine, until you kiss. Lol.

I have tried Revlon lipstick, not sure what kind, in pink. It had some staying power, kinda dry feeling, but again kiss and it will go.

Better yet when i wanted the red or light redish look i would buy kool aid! Get some of the colour wet, and stain my lips! It works, then apply a tad of lipstick over it.

Gosh been years since i have done this, but remember it worked well.

I read in Allure mag., about Avaon my lip miracle, supposed to be good. Allure has it listed in their Oct. issue out, Best Products, etc. I have Avon brochure, it's 4.50 in there. Haven't checked their website. Supposed to be 8 hrs. wear, moisturized, guaranteed. Twig is the featured color (in Allure) a neutral.

I didn't think that anyone else used kool-aid for color on their lips. I thought that I was Weird. The girls at the club would laugh when I did it, but in about an hour I could laugh because their lipstick was "running" or was gone all together. lol

I do like them however find that if you don't use the "moisturiser" stick that comes with those lipsticks regularly... then they do crack and so forth. I don't mind them myself. Ultimately, I do the ol' lip pencil under the lipstick routine.

I think long lasting lipstick makes your lips crusty and peel...I am with Pamela on the liner and little gloss.

I use lip liner underneath and then use the glossy coating stick every time I go into the locker room, & it lasts all night without problem for me.

Okay, here's an old-school way to keep regular lipstick on. Put your face foundation on blotted lips, let dry. Apply lipstick. Gently brush loose face powder on first coat of lipstick. Dab second coat of lipstick on as needed.

The lipliner and gloss trick sounds good. I was thinking that if I mainly used lip gloss I'd have to either carry the gloss tube in my garter (which would probably look weird) or return to the dressing room every 15 minutes to touch up gloss and that would cut down on working time.

I have the covergirl stuff and LOVE it. It's damn near impossible to remove if you don't use the mosturizing junk that comes with it. If you don't, you end up with your lips tinted, but yes, dry -- though I haven't had the problem with them cracking or anything that dramatic.

I also use another type of normal lipstick -- I think it's called Lipslick, but I can't remember and seem to have misplaced it -- in any case, it goes on normally, is very glossy. The gloss/moisture tends to wear away after a while, but the pigment stays put. (Furthermore, it's a LOT easier to remove than the 12-hour kinds!)

the only lip color i've found that doesn't come off is nice lipstain (i recommend urban decay's, but a lot of the higher end cosmetic companies make it-- don't by drugstore lipstain! i made this mistake once, and it just didn't do anything!). it looks very natural, its not crusty like lipstick, and you can put gloss on it a thousand times and it won't fade. its a bit of a pain to get off at the end of the night, and if you get it on your face you better have some make-up remover on hand, but it looks awesome.
