Default No better toning than dancing

I'm about three weeks back in to dancing after a two month hiatus for the summer and it never fails to amaze me/remind me that there is no better body toner than dancing. No matter how well I watch what I eat and do cardio, once I return to the stage my body ALWAYS improves and just becomes much tighter and leaner and my stomache definately becomes defined again. Just one more reason I love being a dancer!

WOw, I can't wait to hurry up now and become a stripper! I think it's because you are dancing 8 hours straight non-stop, so yeah....I can totally see that happening.

Do you go to the gym too? I plan on going to the gym again during the week, like 3-4 days & dance on the wknds. Hopefully I will tone in no time. Such a fluffer right now, lol.

No, I don't go to the gym but I do walk and run 3-4 times a week. I also just got a second hand bowflex machine that I am going to start working on so that I am also incorporating weights.

One thing I always say to girls who are waiting for the "perfect body" to begin dancing is DON'T WAIT. You will get that body faster by dancing and doing what your normally do than you would by just waiting. I just came back from Hawaii where I'd put on a few lbs being gone for two months, and I knew I was heavier but within two weeks of being back at work I had lost it all. I felt self conscious at first but going back to work was definately the best thing I could have done in addition to my cardio and eating right again.

That's awesome, good for you. So how many days a week do you dance now?

Dancing, pilates, using my bicycle or walking instead of my moped or the bus... that's all I do. It is the moving around.. not just the dancing in and of itself.. the walking around the club.. it is all about BEING ACTIVE in the end not necessarily actual exercise.

That's why I walking around the club is not only good for you money wise (so you can be seen) ... it is good for you body-wise

Dancing is a great for of toning! About the stomache shrinking, that's how you do it, sit ups all day long will only tighten the muscles inside that area, you also need cardio (dancing) to help burn off fat.

I found slower harder to move dances are tougher, and work the muscles harder, which gives good tone as well. Especially in my thighs, they can get too big.

Totally agree, Piper. And it doesn't take 2 months for me to start feeling "soft." I feel it after 3-4 days. I can't wait to work tonight simply because I know I'll look and feel better tomorrow.

I agree ladies. Dancing is the ultimate workout. Especially if you're working 5-8 hours a day. You are constantly on your feet doing something whether it be dancing or walking from one part of the club to another. You're using every part of your body esp. if you work the pole too. Its a fun workout for me.
