    Default Love handles

    Most of my body is pretty in shape and I'm pretty satisfied with it except i have these back love handles... like on my side and then to the back. Although they aren't bad you're your own worst critic and i'm being tough but i'd still like to know the best way to get rid of them, thanks!

    gettting lipo is the only sure way to get rid of them and the fat will never go back to that area.

    ^ That's so not true.

    Anna, you need to double check your diet. You are probably eating too many carbs and fats. Tighten up the diet a bit. Do a bit more cardio...and lift weights. Tightening up the diet, and upping the cardio a bit will burn off any excess fat and the weights will tone up the body.

    Also...if you have the "flab" when you are wearing a bra...you are most likely wearing the wrong size...

    I'm sorry to say this but Dasha is right.. lipo only. I have excat same problem.. I've been strugling with this for the past 3 years I've tried dieting excersise it only helps a little bit but it will never go away completly..

    Lipo is probably the only way to remove fat from a cetain spot but it is possible for fat to go back to the same areas. It happened to my love handles. Its easier to lose the weight again after lipo though, if you regain it.

    You can't spot reduce, it's just not possible (like doing certain exercises to try and get rid of fat in one spot, it won't happen) You have to do all over cardio to get rid of any and all fat. It sucks cuz in some cases you lose fat from places you don't want to lose the fat (Like your boobs) I've been exercising like crazy for about a month or two and I've been seeing the results (my love handles are goin away, tummy is getting flat) but my boobs are slowly shrinking too. It is proven the only way to get rid of fat all at once in certain spots is lipo, it actually removes the fat cells. Its possible to gain it back, but not as easily as if you just plain lost the weight and gained it back. It's easy to gain it back if you only lost it because the cells are still there, they've just emptied and shrunk. When you get fat you fill fat cells to their capacity and then your body splits the existing cells and fills those more and more. Those extra cells don't ever go away, exercise will reduce them and empty them, but they're always there, that's why it's easy to gain the weight back without lipo. Lipo will remove them completely! It SUCKS doesn't it!

    OH please...and what med school did you graduate from? No getting lipo is SOOO not your only alternative. You need to work your Lats. Its the muscle right under your love handle. For ex. Take a t-bar, and pull it down (with a cable) towards your chest. It's just merely working your shoulder blades..well that whole area.

    You can "spot train" a certain muscle but you can't "spot reduce" ie lose weight only from one specific area.

    You will need to just keep getting leaner(lowering bodyfat percentage). IF you are also doing any exercises that work your obliques heavily, you may want to stop because if you hypertrophy the muscle under the fat, it just makes the fat look worse in that area(think unlimited class powerlifters). The opposite also works, by giving tonus to the inner abdominal muscles you can suck in your belly area a bit by having those inner muscles full of residual tension(vacuums).

    If you are not doing the following, you are also probably not doing all the basics:

    Dividing your caloric intake over 5-6 meals a day
    Eating something reasonably close to 1 gram per pound of bodyweight in protein(I bet you aren't doing this)
    Some kind of heavy resistance training(real weights, not the pink dumbbells) 2-4 sessions a week
    Some kind of cardio/energy work preferably right after sleep if you do slo-mo cardio

    If you are doing all the above, you may want to try some gimmicks like CKDs to try and mobilize the fat and try to get you leaner.
