I wish I had somewhere to go to learn pole tricks! So if you ever want to teach in Grand Rapids, let me know... my dad's an attorney and he said that if you have another attorney write up a contract and have it noterized then it will be completely legit and they will not be albe to sue you. Good luck!

I would add to the waiver that anything pole dancing/poletricks learned from you (the teacher) by the student is for professional or personal use only not to be retaught and only retaught under supervision and written agreement. This prevents someone that is inexperienced poledance that has taken a couple classes or private lessons to run with it and start teaching others for profit eventually hurting people. In LA metro I have seen this happen a couple times already due to the popularity of poledancing.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

^ That would be impossible. Most likely the moves that Vaden has, she has learned from someone else, and so on. Also, as long as this person is not paid by the company in which Vaden would establish, no one can hold Vaden accountable for anything that she is not directly involved with. A waiver that I WOULD have (if you eventually open a studio, etc) would be that no one, at any time, is to practice on the pole on your property without proper instruction and without a spotter that is EMPLOYED BY YOUR COMPANY. Any thing else will be a violation of contracts and will be grounds for permanent dismissal from the course and prevent that person from suing your company (if admissable).

Vaden, you cannot be sued as long as your contract is within legal parameters of the area in which you are teaching. Something that someone cannot sue you over in CA will be different than in FL. You cannot be sued as long as your contract is within the laws/rules/regs of federal, state, and municipal guidelines. The important thing to remember is that just because you have it written in a contract does not make it legally binding nor executable if it is not legal in the fed's/state's/municipality's eyes.

If you plan on teaching in several cities, etc you need to make sure that you have contracts written that will cover you for the difference in laws.

    Anywho...onwards.

Dylan, Muyaha and Venus thanks for all the info. This is a thought that may happen a long time from now but I will keep everyone who was interested posted.

By the way Venus, nobody taught me my tricks. I learned them on my own just by being observant and doing my own thing. Practice, practice, practice.

Some of the tricks I do are ones that I have never seen another dancer do, and trust me, I have seen quite a bit of very talented dancers.

Understood, but the point is that it will be hard to "certify" a move and make it so that no one can use it and teach it to another. That's my point...

    Hey,
I like the idea. I just saw it done on Oprah, and thought the same thing. I just started dancing in a club and saw the girls doing amazing tricks-then I tried it. OMG-I felt like a sack of cement. I also got some terrible bruising. I could use some classes here in Roanoke VA. I guess if I want to go with it, I could hire the girls who do the awsome tricks to teach me and other "housewives". Great idea-especially when pole dancing is getting so much "exposure" on Oprah and other TV programs. Seems that all the Music Videos are also including dancers.
Go for it and keep us posted. ~Ginger~
