Default The problem with George Washington.

No real problems with George, just the fact that its on the one dollar bill.
Yes everyone loves it when you tip a dollar, its how the industry turns its wheels, but what to do with them all at the end of the night has become a real problem.I think even 60 mins is about to do a story on it.

Just counting them and bank facing them can take alot of time, specially at the end of the night when one is tired.
Ever try to deposit 400 dollars in Georges into an ATM machine??
    and the stares.....
    yes the stares.<shudder>
When an entertainer pays for her 200 dollars worth of stuff at the register with all Georges, they get the "stare".

Dont put your ATF thru this!
If your going to a club this weekend, you can help.

YOU! yes you(smokey the bear voice)

Please tip with 10's and 20's tonight and save your ATF the hassles.

Every club I've ever worked in has let me cash my ones in. Otherwise I try to use them to tip out as much as possible.

It's not that much of a problem for me personally because I try to avoid going on stage as much as possible.

Another problem with George is that guys still just put one of him on the tip rail, as his value goes down further and further year after year. About the only thing you CAN buy for a dollar anymore is a few seconds of a dancer's time on stage.

Well of course the faves get the big bills. (Who pays for dances in singles anyways, even when $5 dances we're available, I didn't stoop that low).

Its the waitresses, bartenders and those other dancers who get stuck with George.

I often HAVE to tip in 1s. Is as though they want you to just come with 1s!!!
If I buy a 4 dollar drink, I will get back 16 singles 100% of the time.

Come on now! ... Who do you think your fooling?

We know this isn't a public service announcement for the dancers..... you're just ticked that they turn around and use the $1's to tip out the DJ!

It's true, I always seem to leave work with huge wads of 1$ bills, lol...

But to tell the truth, I don't mind much. I always keep a big wad of ones in my pocket, not my wallet, so wherever I go they are ready for smaller purchases. It is funny to pull out a huge thick pile at the grocery store, but I always shrug it off and tell them I work in a bar.

Also if I go to a club where I know the dancers--probably because I have worked with them--I always tip well, so I have plenty of ones available. What goes around, comes around.

One thing I would definitely advise against, however, is stage tipping with big bills. I can't count the times I have had a dancer come to me in the booth and ask me who tipped her the 20$ bill--I never know, either. If you do tip with a big bill, hold it up so she can see it first.

Better yet, give her a 'shower' of money--throw a wad of 1$ bills so they float all around her--it looks really good. A few dancers are freaked by this, and they do have to pick them all up--but the vast majority will love you for it, and it looks great for the crowd--especially if the jerks at the rail aren't tipping.

hey it's better than the little old lady paying with her jar full of pennies.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

Heheh, I'm totally known at the bank now as the woman with the ones. If I go in with less than $200 they're like "what?? Was it a slow weekend??" Heheh. The most was $800. BF keeps saying that if we buy another car the down payment has to be in ones. Most of the time I remember to turn them in, though, less of a hassle, and I tip whoever I cash them in to.
Oh, and my DJs always get larger bills.

there's a 7-11 by my house and i usually stop in on the way home and theyre always like "HEY! ITS THE ONES GUY!!!" and they buy them off me if i didnt cash them out at work. sometimes the club lets me do it, but as the dj, i kinda get tipped on the way out the door by a large percentage of the girls so the managers are already done with their counting and such by the time i've gotten it all.but oh well. the only thing i notice is how quickly i'll spend them. i might think twice about breaking that 50 or 100, but hey, whats a stack of ones? oh and half of them were the wadded up kind some guys throw at the stage so forget trying to feed them into any machines., it's not happening.
