    What do you think about........

    Hey all~

I was wondering .........what do you think the age limit of a dancer should be? I mean if a women, at lets say 39, still looks hot should she still keep with it or maybe try another profession or something. I'm just askin because I'm 28 and I always told myself I stop dancing by 30. I screwed around with school for 8 years but I should get my associates as paralegal by 30. YEAH! I am kinda sick of dancing, so I'm taking a break by going to school and staying at home with my son. Paralegals do make pretty good money 13-15$ to start.

But we dancers still make more! I am still looking good, in fact customers that comeback to the club I've been working at for years always comment that I havent changed a bit and we are talking about 7-9 years they haven't seen me. So now I'm thinking maybe I should dance until I can't dance no more!

I'll definately finish school and start on my career but maybe extend my dancing limit? What do y'all think?

Also, is there an age limit on dancing? And, if so, what age would that be?

    Thanks for reading!

    Ten years and counting,
    Shannon

I think woman should dance until they feel it's time to stop. If a woman feels good about her body and has what it takes and is still making money, then she should keep doing what her heart desires. That's not to say all woman should do it forever because god only knows how many woman I've seen that should have retired ages ago, but I have to give them credit for doing it and still making their money.

I think that for as long as you feel your body as well as mind can handle it, then keep going! I am going on 30 in January and I used to have that rule to quit when I turned 30. My customers tell me the same thing, how I have not changed and I look much younger than I am. Most of the people I meet think I am 24-25 tops..LOL I think that if your starting to look much older than most of the girls you work with and your looking kinda shabby, then it's time to move on.. If you still have it, flaunt it! I will most likely dance at the most another 2-3 years as I put myself through school for a career in the forensic's field...

So I guess my final answer is "33"....We shall see though....

Women that take care of themselves, well. you will never truely know their age until they tell you.

I've known dancers in their 50's who looked better than women in their 20's....it all depends on how good you look and how you carry yourself

My cut off will be 30 (hopefully). I'm going 26 later this month.

    HOWEVER

there are plenty of dancers who are over 30 who are making damn good money as well so I am open to keep going until I'm 35 (at the latest).

My plan is to semi-retire in re: dancing at age 30 and hopefully be fully retired by age 35. This is if my body will be able to hold up to that plan (I'm not talking physical beauty, I'm talking knee joints and so forth).

Hopefully I'll do so well (making $$ and investing well) in the next 3-4 years that I will be able to be out by age 30.

Truth in there, not to mention the attitude factor; I've had dances from 20-somethings that were as cold and mechanical as a sump pump, but have had dances from 30-somethings that were warm and personable and were very into what they were doing, if not exactly into me, per se.

    Two cents.

I think if you are making money, then it doesn't matter how old you are, if you can find work. If I am hot shit at 50, then I'll still dance, I don't care. But the majority of considerably older dancers are far boyond their "expiration dates" IMO. But really, who am I to say?

Dancers age differently. I've worked with gorgeous forty-year-olds, AND I've worked with alkies and druggies who looked 5-10 years older than their real age, and all beat up besides! A dancer should stay in as long as she's ahead.
A lot of customers mention the get uncomfortable talking to dancers who are very very young because they don't feel like they have anything in common to talk about. Whereas an older dancer usually has some living under her belt and makes for better conversation. I know in some clubs, the teenage dancers do well (like juice bars) but in a club-bar, a lot of patrons come in to chat with someone for a while. This is an invisible asset that dancers gain as they mature, and will make them more money than the dancers just starting out.

I personally think that a person should dance until she hangs up her heels. Which by the way I did over my bed.

One of THE best dancers I've ever met was 40 when I worked with her. You'd never tell. Looks, performance, personality, etc... all was ageless. Dance till you WANT to stop, or it just doesnt work for you anymore.

I've worked with a few dancers in their late 40's and up to mid 50's - they were amazing!!!
I thourght I might make it to 35, but that's not far off so if nothing drastically bad happens in the looks department over the next few years I shall try and hang in there longer.
I generaly LOVE my job, so if i possibly could do it till 60 I would, lol. I doubt it though. (-:
