    Default Exercises for Pole Work

Okay, I'm a total Stripper Wannabe-but not for real, just for fun! (cuz I don't have a good enough body, but I would LOVE to do what you guys do). So, for fun and exercise, I take an exotic dancing class and I also just bought a pole for my house (which makes my husband crazy cuz it's right smack dab in the middle of everything and always in the way *lol*)

I also bought two pole videos (which haven't arrived yet) cuz the pole part is what I really want to learn.

So, I noticed from researching that a lot of pole tricks require upper arm strength--at this point, I have NONE! Soooo, specifically what kind of exercises/weight training should I be doing to improve this?? I know nothing about muscles/fitness/weight training, so if someone could point me in the right direction of what specific muscles I should be targeting and what exercises work best, that would be WONDERFUL!!!

If other muscles are helpful in doing moves, please mention those as well!!

    Thanks sooooooo much!

Check out the Body Business section...here's a link to get you started.

If you still have more questions, please let us know!!

BTW...pole work takes FULL body strength. You are utilizing your abdomen to initiate spinning moves, pulling your legs up...you are using your hams and quads to push yourself up the pole, and you are using your upper body to pull yourself up. It's a great full body workout...so don't concentrate on strengthening JUST your upper body!

    Exactly what Venus said...

I currently do swimming, push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, squats, free-style dance combined with a 4-5 night schedule of dancing w/major pole work.

The pole work itself, once you learn it, keeps you in outstanding shape.

^ When are you going to do an instructional pole work DVD Vaden?

Like the old saying goes, I'd buy that for a dollar. Ahem.

Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.
