    Default Work out Routine.

    I finally sold my business and am getting back into the workout routine.

    The issue is that I have always had a personal trainer. A couple of years ago they were running $35 an hour but now it is $65 to $70 / hour. At three times a week it adds up fast. The new trainer I have is really good. I just don't want to pay $900 / month....

    It seems the trainers do a great job taking me through a variety of routines, but they don't run a chart that I can start tracking myself or give me a routine I can do on my own.

    My health club has Cybex, free weights, etc.

    My question is what sources do you use to design your routine? Books, etc.

    Get a routine designed by a trainer working at your gym, then merely modify it as you progress and gain strength.

    Why pay a personal trainer...unless she's really hot, but even then, I've never seen the point in the 15 years I've been a regular in training.

    The boho training regimen- drink and smoke occasionally. have vigorous sex 2-7 times a week. Walk everywhere 'cause you have no car. Augment missed meals with more drinking.
    Get into animated discussions with people over what-have-you and check your blood pressure afterwards.

    I prefer the Body-for-Life book. I follow that and I love the routine!!

    I also do Pilates and Yoga...

    Good idea taking notes. One of the best ways to make progress is to log your workouts, listing specific exercises, recording weight and rep stats daily. This will allow you to see your progress, and also change your workout so your body doesnt get used to the routine.

    Bodybuilding.com is a good resource.

    You can also try out Elitefitness.com and read the forums. They have a respectable group that posts on everything from nutrition, to workout routines and exercises for all levels.

    Krys is also a very good reference on this board. If you need some help she is very well informed on diet and working out.

    This is my current program. It works great but I want something more classical.
