Default working illegally in the US, can it be done?

i know, you should never work illegally, but getting a greencard is a bitch, and i REALLY wanna try vegas, and getting a sheriffs card will be a bitch too.

anyone know just how easy it could be to work with out this stuff? and not have to work in scummy back alley clubs?

im running at a loss as to where i could dance. new zealand is a waste of time, im sick of australia for now, and ive got the UK in my sights for next year.

Some clubs in Austin and Houston only ask for 2 forms of ID, no social security card, but I guess it depends on the club and who you are. If they ask and you can't provide, you're out!

I met a girl from Aus who was stripping her way across the country, but that was a few years ago, I am sure she did not have papers. But this was before 9/11 which changed immigration policy...

I worked in Europe without papers and it was a bitch getting work since anyone EU was considered before me...I had to be a dishwasher for a while because it was all I could get and I HATE HATE HATE doing dishes!

Don't give up on Australia so easily. Just don't work on the Gold Coast or in Sydney. Melbourne will always be a good city to dance in... you could also try out the more regional areas if you wanted.. Rockhampton ended up paying off for me and I'm going back after Indy (3 week min. contracts). Cairns (The Club International) and Townsville (Santa Fe Gold) would probably be decent enough this time of year as well.

Darwin is good this time of year or anytime during the "dry" season. Adelaide... give it a go. Then there's Sinsations in Canberra (it's the only actual strip club in Canberra as the others are really brothels).

Plenty of options here still ... don't cross Australia off your list so soon. At least you won't be illegally working... so you won't have to worry about deportation.

If you are going to give the USA a go... try Austin in the state of Texas. My original plan was to go there after the DWT however it fell thru due to not having enough $$ to be able to afford to do it... so I just did the DWT in Las Vegas.

Also, you need to be in the USA for a min. of 5 nights before you can leave - just FYI. Also be prepared to stand in a really looooooooooooooooooooong line at US customs. After such a long flight from Sydney to LAX... that line was the LAST thing I wanted to endure.. it was soooo long.

Vegas is impossible. I focus on small clubs in small towns and do WAAY better than Vegas and some of them will hire you no problem.

There is a big difference in small clubs in big cities and small clubs in small towns. Clubs in small towns pull EVERY type of customer, young and old rich and poor whereas small clubs in big cities get the lower end of the spectrum customer.

You can make $6000-$9000 per month USD in select small town clubs I am talking about.

That's another good point. I got ripped off by one employer, and another employer tried her very best to rip me off, when I worked illegally in Europe. The people I worked for treated me like shit and made me do all of the lowest grunt work. It was a learning experience for a princess like me to say the least!

The strip club I worked actually treated me the best LOL! So if you plan to work illegally, be prepared to be treated like a second class citizen

mermaidnz I would think that you being an from Australia that it would be somewhat easier for you to get a visa and work permit for the US.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

^ I don't know...INS has tightened down on EVERYBODY who comes into the US. If you want to work Vegas...you're going to have to get a visa...without that, you will not be able to get a sheriffs card...or a "business license". They've gotten really strict about that recently...and most clubs will absolutely refuse to hire anyone who doesn't have those things...it's their business on the line...they could care less about you.

If you want to work at an upscale club...you're going to have to go through the "visa" process...otherwise, the only other places that may take you are the ones you won't want to work in anyways.

Also...never been to Vegas, but my friends that have say that the contact there is a little higher. If you don't like contact (which I think you mentioned in another thread?)...Vegas may not be the place for you. But, someone from Vegas could give you more info there.

Its near impossible for anyone to get a work permit or visa for America!

You could get a one year open work visa for Canada and try things out over here mermaidnz, thats what I am doing. Aslong as you are under 30 you can get one no probs. You could make a few side trips to the States if you wanted but least you would have a back up if you got a Canadian work visa just incase it didn't work out in the States.

I also agree with GCG things in Aus are pretty sweet if you travel round a bit.

PM me if you want any info on how to go about getting a visa for Canada.

I know in NYC and vicinity there are A LOT of out of country girls... I've talked to some and I'm pretty sure they got away without a green card..

Also, most of the clubs in the west/midwest (Montana, Wyoming, South/North Dakota) don't require much identification... And I'd consider them quite high-money clubs!! They are usually smaller with lots of local girls that dont "work" (hustle) as hard as they should... Also some in my area require weekly bookings ahead of time and pay about $400/week to cover the hotel costs. Check 'em out!!
    I'm a good girl!!

Easy enough in Houston... BUT, read some of the threads on Houston before you decide to come 'cause the clubs probably work a little bit differently here than you're used to (or than you're likely to encounter in most other U.S. cities).

Actually, Texas is probably the easy place. The girls are independant contractors, no I9 required.

Some Texas places still require you to give them a SS-card or green card to copy. It depends on who the manager is and what mood he is in. If you are hired on a recommendation from a friend, they are less likely to ask, than if you come in off the street.

I agree - it's usually pretty easy in Texas. It would be the easiest if you went somewhere where you knew people who worked there - that way management would be more likely just to cut you a deal (a little extra tip out a night on the side).
But if this isn't an option, all you would probably have to say is that you worked at the club down the street previously. Then when they ask you for your ID, etc. give them something that shows you're over 18. When they ask for Social Security card or Green Card, tell them you didn't know you'd be allowed to work tonight, and that you'll bring it into them tomorrow. Chances are they will let you in, and forget to ask you the next day, especially if you wait a day or two before returning.
I've suspected every club I've worked at in Austin (and a couple in Dallas) of being guilty of doing this for certain girls. You'd think they'd crack down on this, but the strip clubs in Texas have just about let all the laws and regulations go to hell in a handbasket. lol. Even when a club gets caught for lewd dancing, it's back to "business" in about a week or two. This would be the bad thing about getting a job where they won't ask you for the right ID. If they are going to let this slide, chances are they are letting other girls slide when they do things that are against the law too.
I would advise against trying to work in New York City, Las Vegas, or Chicago without proper ID, unless you want to put up with a lot of crap from management being snotty to you and making you tip them extra (and the amount could be astronomical) every night you work.
I remember one time when I worked in Chicago I overheard that asshole Greg (a manager at VIP/Crazy Horse) saying to another manager that a girl from "out of town" was gonna have to tip them out 50% of what she made. I just rolled my eyes. I wouldn't work for that kind of crappy deal when I could get a better one if I'd just go elsewhere. I always thought the managers in Chicago were always so greedy and rude. There was a manager there named Joe a long time ago who wasn't so bad, but he's not there anymore.

From what I have heard, unless you are a feature dancer with an agent and a pre-arranged schedule it's next to impossible for an non-US citizen to obtain a work visa for dancing.

Without a work visa or green card, you will NOT be issued a dancer's license in any city that requires one, like Atlanta or Vegas.

Without a work visa or green card, you will NOT be hired by any "corporate" or "chain" club, because they have too much at stake to risk ignoring the Patriot Act.

If you are "hot", you can probably get hired in an independently owned second tier club which would normally have trouble attracting dancers who are 9s and 10s away from the first tier clubs. But as other girls have mentioned, working illegally puts you at a severe disadvantage ... probably resulting in high mileage expectations and heavy handed treatment by club management. After all, if you give them any grief whatsoever, all it takes is one phone call and you're on your way to being deported.

LOL...I cannot believe that Greg said that to you!! He's one of those that can make a joke and you won't know whether he's serious or not...

The best manager at VIP's is Bob. He's my fave and I always work the nights he's on.

He came into the office and said it to the other manager in there at the time Joe. He wasn't saying that WE were going to have to pay that, but to some girl from Vegas who had just come in that night and wanted to work . I was thinking she must not have had her ID's straight for him to propose such a crappy deal to her.

Greg is icky. I'm glad there's someone else there who seems nice. Greg always seemed like he didn't have much respect for strippers, even though in a sense we were all paying his bills by being there!

There are clubs all over the country that will let you work illegally, but you'll have to be careful about which ones you choose because you could find yourself in a bad situation due to your citizenship. As said before it's easy to get away with this in Texas, but Vegas or Atlanta would not be an option. I've worked in Vegas and they absolutely require the right papers or you don't get the dancing license, and no club will hire you there without the license - it's too much of a risk for them. Your best be would be to go places where you know someone who could refer you to the right manager in clubs that will be decent to work in, in areas where you can make decent money.

    so texas is relativly ok.

im just thinking ,if i was to come to the states, mainly for a holiday, and work a week or two in a few states to pay for the next leg of the trip ( of course id already have a return ticket, insurance etc, this money will just be play money and to cover what i had already spent)

so i was thinking if i was to work a few weeks in one club, would it be worth all the effort to get a visa ( sounds like a lot of hassle for nothing to me,thaz all)

    thanks heaps

The point is, you most likely WON'T get a visa to work in the US as a dancer. You'd have to be a feature with a good agent to even come close, so forget the visa altogether and conentrate on finding places that are more lenient with the paperwork. You could definitely work a few nights here and there to make your travel money back. Good luck!
