K, Got some good news, and some bad news.
Bad news first. I couldn't even turn my $61 in $62! Hey said the bills were too recent (1996-1999), and not in good enough condition. =( He took one of the 20's and looked it up in a book, which he let me browse through, it was the one in the best condition. Unfortunately, it was a '96, and not worth anything at all, because it was too common. I asked if I hung onto it, if it would be worth more in the furture, he said I'd make more money taking that $20 and buying one of the rare coins/bills in his cases, and that even putting it in the bank to accrue interest wouldn't make me as much money. There was some interesting stuff in his cases! (Did you know that there used to be paper money for the coins we use today?) But I told him I wasn't looking for an investment, just looking to make a quick buck. I could tell he really wanted to be able to help me out. And I even asked about the ebay thing. His theory is that someone would post it, have a friend buy it, and re-post it. I don't see the logic in that, but oh well. He said most star bills I would run across aren't worth anything at all.
K, the good news. There ARE star bills worth money, so if you get a star bill that's pretty much uncirculated, DON'T FOLD IT and put it in your g-string. Keep it in good condition. He said banks often give out fresh star bills. Might be more worth the time to just go to the bank and buy large bills with smaller ones in the hopes of getting a large, fresh star bill. And check the dates. I asked about that, what dates I should look at, but he told me to get the book he was referring to, so I guess it's a little more complex than just dates and stars. Signatures and cities are of signifigance in determining a star bill's value as well. He kept showing me stuff from the 1930's and 40's that had doubled in value, and that was for mildly circulated star bills. Also, if you get any SILVER CERTIFICATES, keep those. I think they usually have a blue seal. Any uncommon coins, too. He told me about a guy that worked at Circle K and got a $5 gold coin that he gave the guy $135 for! ALSO, any bills with the same number repeated throughout the whole serial number are worth money. And star bills in sequential order. He had an framed, uncut sheet of $2 star bills that he said each was worth $30. So that's the good and the bad news. I asked him if I should just spend the money and he said yes, so I did =)

Hmm... mine are stuck in the pages of The Prophen (somebody remind me when I lose them lol).
Amber... that sucks. I hope the place here wants to buy them and give me lots of money.

I'm holding to two twenties (one '96 and one '99) and a fifty ('96). They're not worn out or anything. If I ironed them (used to do that when I had this weird crease in paper pet peeve- obviously a long story) they would be good as new. Maybe I'll call up a dealer around here and see. It is 90 bucks. Don't want to hold onto to it for nada...

Yay! More money for me!!! Thank u, thank u, thank u![]()

Okay, so the star notes are not all they're cracked up to be. But have you heard that Beanie Babies with stars for genitalia are skyrocketing in value? Ladies, don't tell just anyone but let's start stuffing them in between our bed sheets for the future.Originally Posted by azamber

Wow!!! Good To Know!!!! Thanx!!!!

Yeah! I just got a $20 the other day! I am going to have it preserved or whatever it is that coin dealsers do, and keep it for my son! I figure in 20 years, when most of these bills have been worn to bits and destroyed, it will really be worth someting!
