Sad Please Help - Major Breakout

I hate to sound like a baby, but here goes...

As someone who has NEVER experienced an acne breakout before (I'm 27 and may get A pimple once a month), I have no idea what to do with the massive amounts of bumps that have broken out on my face.

On Saturday morning, I took a dose of emergency contraception pills as an extra precaution to an "encounter" with my bf and since Wednesday, I've been fighting a severe breakout on my face. I have not been on the Pill since '98, but I'm sure it's a hormonal reaction (I've also started bleeding). Has anyone dealt with this before? If so, what can you do to get rid of them? I am currently trying Neutrogena wash and multi-vitamin treatment (1.5% s.a.), but I haven't seen much effect. I am so upset over this, I don't even want to go to work, but I know I need to. Any tips for hiding acne?

    Thanks Ladies!!

Use benzol peroxide....like Clearasil. And put beaten egg yolk on your face and let dry, the vitamins and cholesterol will soothe your facial skin. Do a hot-steam facial and use a facial scrub paste to get blood circulating and to unclog pores.

Thanks ladies! I did the egg yolk and created an aspirin mask. My skin looks MUCH better today. I may even go to work, lol.

This is just going to be a short term thing from what have you explained here- so don't freak out too bad or you'll make things worse for your face-- trust me I know- I had skin problems for many years and had to take accustane( if you arent aware of this med , it's given to only severae cases and blood tests have to be done monthly while on it ) to get things under control so I have some experience with this-- it's SOOOOOOOOOOOO tempting to try to treat the breakout to death, but it really only makes it worse.

Wash twice a day w/ a GENTLE cleanser and try to keep as much makeup (and anything else including masks, spot therapy etc.) off your skin. Let it breathe and maintain it's PH.

Drink LOTS of water and stay away from dairy for a week or so (dairy can aggravate acne)

Sit in the sun for 10/ 15 mins everyday- even if its just in the window- a little bit of sun helps - just don't over do it ! This will give you some vits and a bit of a glow.

This won't last- it's just a reaction to the meds you had to take.

If you don't over scrum, over treat, over dry your skin you'll be back to normal (no breakouts- lucky girl !) in less than a month.

If you need any mental support , feel free to PM me. I suffered many years of what you felt when posting this thread.

    Hugs!

i have an obsession with perfect skin, i gotta have it, and if i dont i end up not going outside my house.

i suffered on and off with it, and the dermentologist is my best friend. Thank god for insurance..

You might want to try a chemical peel or the blue light.. Its not that bad as far as price and will make an immediate difference.

Thank you so much for the encouragement, Tigerlilly!! I was crushed over this breakout. This morning, I only have about 10 left, but they look like little ant or mosquito bites - not like the massive, pus-filled mounds I had when I first started writing. I feel much better today and am going to work tonight. I think the blacklights will hide them enough without make-up, but if not, I'll throw on a little powder. I'll also take your advice and stay away from dairy and get some sun.

Tampa, what's the "blue light"? Also, I didn't know insurance covered dermatology...who are you covered by? Thanks!!

I will nevah, EVAH take my clear skin for granted again!! Nor wil I mess with hormones unless absolutely necessary. That'll teach me to get amorous and putting on a condom later rather than sooner

I had the blue light treatment during a dermabrasion session, it's like someone taking a bug zapper and waving it over your face.....feels like a rubber band snapping on your skin.

yes.. absolutely insurance covers dermentology.. I have aetna.

there are some beneficial procedures (chemical peels etc) that are not covered by insurance.. but are not too pricey.
