HELP..
If I were you I would leave my hair straight. I have long, naturally curly hair and I notice i make more money the days I where it (blow dry it) straight. FD xoxo
I really like Hot Tools Curling Irons and Bumble and Bumble Hair Spray!
But if you hair loses it's curl after a couple of dances, try pinning your hair in place until it's cooled off. I usually curl my hair then pin it up for the drive to the club then let it down before I step out onto the floor. Hair Spray Hair Spray Hair Spray!
I hope that helps

I have naturally straight hair. To get a wavy look I just put heaps of gel in it and blow dry it with my head upside down scrunching as I go. Then apply the hairspray (you wanna stand back when I do this LOL). The trick is not to brush your hair that day, and don't wash it before you want to curl it (you can wash it in the morning if you need it curly for night).

If i want volume i will tie 4 braids in my hair and go to sleep all night in them. Next day waves. If i want more wave, i will wrap my hair around cloth strips and sleep in them!
My hair is very long and straight. Make sure your hair is damp not soaking wet or they wont dry. Result beautiful waves! No damage because no hairspray or gel needed!
Pamela. Pictures of both ways i wear my hair in the gallery.

Hi Tampa![]()
This is what i'm gonna try to make my hair curly too, bc I have straight hair also.
Get some type of a good brand mousse that says to "freeze" the hair or either to volumize it. Try either Paul Mitchel, Volumax(this is what I have now & it's good shit so far, lol), or Physic hair products. Can't go wrong with either one, I find those products good for straight thin hair like mine.
After washing it, blow dry it with whatever mousse you get & put some rollers on your hair after drying it.Try not to put the heated ones, you don't want to put too much heat on your hair esp. if you dye it much. Then after you take the rollers out flip your hair over upside down, spray a little bit of misty hair spary(Volumax volumizing hairspray) & blow dry it a bit while you are crunching your hair with you hand. Don't crunch it too hard, just lightly bc it can look tangled. Don't get the pump bottled hairspray, it'll weigh down the hair.
And i'm also gonna try what Pam said, that's a good way to get a nice wavey look. And after letting the braids loose, i'm gonna spray a tad of hair spray. My hair weighs down fast, so I have to spray a bit. Not too much, I don't my hair to look stiffy either.
Just make sure to use a shampoo that's good for your hair, that's what'll achieve the best looking curls that'll stay. And condition it well, so they can look like shiney curly locks.![]()

One of the best producst I have used in my naturally straight (REALLY STRAIGHT) hair is Spray Starch by Redken.
It's excellent and holds for a long time, also Big Trix Mousse by matrix.
How do you shoot the devil in the back? What if you miss?
I have very long at my ass super straight hair and can not keep curls in my hair past an hour using curlers or curling irons and hairspray feels so nasty and crusty. But the only thing that does make it wavy and will last like Pamela said is doing the braids and you wont have to add the junk to your hair.
put the curlers on after you blowdry?? for how long?Originally Posted by Vyanka

I second the Redken. Although I find the Redken Hot Sets(? I think it's called?) holds the curl even better than the starch spray. My hair is super straight too and the curl will last for along time with this stuff.Originally Posted by Poysyn
I also have super straight hair. I do just like Vyanka says. I leave my rollers in for a couple of hours. I also found that if i spray it lightly with hairspray before rolling in up the Curls stay in all night.

Yes, put the curlers on after you blowdry. And leave in the curlers on about 2-3 hours.Originally Posted by tampafldancer
wow.. sounds like a lot of trouble to go through 2-3 hrs? ahhh
how about velcro's at home with a salon-type hairdryer? (Over your whole head)
anyone ever try that? I'd hate to walk around 3 hrs with curlers![]()
My super straight hair holds curl much better when I'm working with dirty hair....also has allot more volume when it's dirty.
I have this problem too. My hair will not hold a curl no matter what I do or use.
I have stuck with the straight hair because I like it better straight anywho....![]()
My hair is naturally straight and fine too. It won't hold a curl w hot rollers or curling iron. I don't like hair spray because it makes my hair hard. I'm sort of picky about styling my hair because I want to be very gentle to it since it's long and fine so it doesn't break off- so I don't blowdry it or do any heat styling to avoid damage.
I have heard of one thing that might hold the curl for a while. Hairstylist do a wet set on hair where hair is slightly damp then you put curlers in and then blowdry or sit under a hooded salon dryer until it's conpletely dry. That's supposed to hold longer since hair was damp first- a hair stylist told me it holds about 4 hours.
yes.. but i cant find a salon that does that in tampa!!!
iv'e heard about it too, and was thinking about getting a dryer at home for it.. One from sally beauty that folds open..
have you ever tried that wash n'curl stuff they have at cvs and walmart.I guess its a shampoo that makes your hair curly.I have never tired it ,but am curious if it would work.seems too good to be true.you might wanna give it a whirl
wow all this info really helps me out, lol even though this wasn't my question, but I try to curl my hair all the time, my hair is wavy and crappy because of my dying sooooo much, so i straighten my hair everyday so i can atleast look decent, and i guess now because of that my hair won't hold a curl for more than 5 minutes, sadness, but I'm gonna try some of these and hope to mother mary jesus they work!

i have fine straight hair that has a hard time holding a curl, but curling irons seem to work the best
yes.. my curlng iron does well now with some cheap hair spray (spray starch didnt work for me, sigh)
but dont curling irons damage the hell out of your hair? sigh![]()
