    Thumbs down Sh*tytibank s*ks B*lls

Well Corp. Thugs strike again. Just wanted to let anyone know, do NOT open cc w/C-bank. The cc I have Bk of America, is owned by them, as is Fleet. I was gonna say, not the Fleet in enemas, but somehow that's apropriate. I made the HUGE mistake of 1. Buying a Toyota, (maybe cars are great, not the dealers) 2. buyin a warranty which was later cancelled by Toyota, then the dealer claimed I automatically shifted to another warranty co. I disputed the amt. w/Bk of A-holes, to which they responded, "they don't get involved in warranty/dealer disputes". Huh? Why'd they take the transaction. Oh, yeah, to get my $. Later the kind dealer refunded some of my $, 1k out of 1,300.00. But, now, B of A as of over a week, hasn't credited me, & charged me an overlimit fee, despite my sending them numerous faxes, emails, calls, & as of yesterday, a certified letter. I guess I will hafta go thru FTC, another roll o' red tape.

Interesting you should mention that, just a few minutes ago I got a call from Citibank saying that my account is past due...I don't have an account with them. I only use my bank debit card as a credit card and for them to call me and tell me this is very shocking. I spent about an hour on the phone with this lady and she claims that I have a deliquency on my account and it has been charged up to 5k+. I'm so nervous about it I have ordered a credit report and hope that this clears up the issue. I had a credit card with them a long time ago and paid that off about three years ago and asked for the account to be closed. NOW THIS!! They do suck!

Yes, I was warned by my mechanic about them. Also a lady @ the corporate office where I purchased my former lemon, I mean car, told me she had probs w/ them too.

    Vixie.
It sounds like you have been a victim of identity theft. If you did not spend $5K, someone did. You have to dispute this bill in writing. Call the Cc company and get the address of the addy to dispute the bill-it must be in writting under the law.

Yes...and you may want to think about getting a lawyer who specializes in this. There are so many loopholes, rules, regulations, etc. (read, legal bullshit) that it really takes someone with know-how to get you through without losing your mind. Also, if you still have a copy of the letter to the CC company requesting that they close your account...you will not be liable (I do not believe) for ANY of the charges made after that time. Get a lawyer. And, good luck!

I'm having my own problems with Citi, which became my bank by buying out the bank I had been banking with.....which had bought out the bank I banked with for the majority of my life a couple years earlier<sigh>!

My father had his savings accounts changed after my mother passed to having his accounts in only his own name with my name added as beneficiary, the account being called something called a "Trustee" account. As an only child, I did the same with my accounts, with my father named as beneficiary if anything happened to me. I'm not an attorney, but an acquaintance who was, recommended this...something about so many people being sued today that joint accounts, whether for husband and wife or parent and adult children, are not a good idea. Disclaimer: as stated I am not an attorney, so please do not construe this as legal advice. If you need an attorney, see an attorney.

Unfortunately for me, my father had some dividends from a small amount of common stock he owned automatically deposited to this account each quarter, something on the order of $8-10 per quarter, and because of this, the bank will not completely close his account and transfer the funds into my name unless I go through all kinds of crap with the Transfer Agent bank of the stock, which my dad purchased via a dividend reinvestment plan. Not a huge amount of money. Just a couple bucks more than $1,700, but still something I could really use right now to clear up some bills, so I'm going to see an attorney a friend of mine at work recommended. He thinks his attorney friend can solve my problem by writing a letter, as it wouldn't be worth it to Citi to get involved in litigation over that small an amount, which isn't even pocket change to a major bank.

Thanks, all. Bk of Am should be getting today or tomorrow, the certified letter I sent them asking for my refund. I also got a copy (via fax) of the return receipt of the credit issued, by the merchant. This was faxed today to B. of A. It still, as of today, has not been posted to my account. When I call, they give the info as of 10/16. So, I'm led to believe that theyonly update the accounts, maybe on the 16th. Which could mean that the account might not be updated until the 16th of next mo. Meanwhile they sent me a bill with a MINIMUM due of 1.093.00

I just paid off my citibank card and on whim went to check what my limit on the card really was only to find that they had charged me another 18 bucks. Turns out they have this policy that if you pay off the card they will charge interest on the previous months balance! So, if you hadn't noticed this wonderful policy, pay off your card, and have the paperless option and think you still owe nothing, they get to impose late fees and the like until you do I hate those bastards, and when I closed my account by phone their response was to treat it like I had reported the card lost and sent me a new one. Grrr - i'm writing my letter now to close the account. *end rant*
...and the day came, when the risk it took to remain closed in a bud became worse than the risk it took to blossom.

And I thought it was just me! I opened a Citibank card with an 8.99% interest rate and last week I get my new statement and my rate was raised to over 27%!

I called them (TRIED to stay calm, trust me) and asked what the hell that was all about. I've never made a single late payment or gone over my limit in the 2 years I've had that card. They raised it because of a "derogatory item" on my credit record! I demanded to know what they were talking about and what date this item happened. They told me July 15th and I responded by saying that I printed a copy of my credit report in late Sept. and there was no such thing in the paper in front of me. I demanded that my rate be lowered again and they told me the best they could do was give me 19.99% while I disputed! I told them to send me in writing the specific reason, since I was looking in the credit report and had no clue what they were talking about. My credit score is in the upper 600's. I'll have it paid off in four months before they can raise it again. Assholes.

What's the point of paying yor bills on time if they're just gonna find some stupid reason to stick you with higher rates no matter what?

hrm, I've had a citibank Sony Rewards card for about 5-6 years now and they didn't do that crap with me. I've since changed because I wanted to go with a frequent flyer program that Bank of America and US Air have, but otherwise they were no problem.

Fleet, on the other hand, annoys me.

Update: I've sent my 3rd certified letter,(in addition to numerous faxes) & received the signed verification post card back. Still, my balance info is not updated on the automated sys., altho a rep from co claims it is. He said I can see it online, but it requires SSN, which is NOT advisable to punch in online. Prob. Mon. I will be contacting FTC, or poss. Attorney Gen. Ofc. in my state.

They use SSL encryption, you can use your SS. Also, I look at my Citi statements online all the time because they created a login ID and password for me. Ask them to do that for you and you won't have to enter your social security #.

Fuck, I hope they don't do that to me. I haven't had the card very long.

I have been with Citibank forever, actually this was my first CC and have never had any trouble with them at all, quite the opposite. I have called them and said "hey so-and-so will give me a rate of blah-blah percent, what can YOU do to keep me?" and gotten my rate lowered and lowered.
