~*~ I must not fear. ~*~Fear is the mind-killer.Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.I will face my fear.I will permit it to pass over me and through me.And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.~*~ Only I will remain. ~*~
I've tried an at home waxing kit once. And only once. It's a pain in the arse, the wax doesn't stay hot, it takes a while to get the hang of, so something that should take minutes can end up taking a long time. Maybe it's just cause I'm a total spazz, but I ended up with wax all over the place, and it didn't come out smooth, I had patches of hair and It took so many tries that I ran out of wax strips. So no, it's not effective. As for safe...I don't think so cause you can rip off some skin (I didn't do it, but it can happen). If you still want to do it yourself get the full Nair Microwave Kit. It comes with the wax, strips, an applicating stick, and towelettes to clean your skin before and after. Oh yeah, it smells pretty nice and it comes with an aromatherapy candle to calm your nerves, all in a neat little tote. But really, you're better off going to a pro, or shaving.

I use nads. Its an aussie product. You don't have to heat it and it washes off in water.
It hurts a bit the first few times but is alot cheaper and more convienient than going to a salon to get it done. I wax myself every week or so.
It would probably best to get a few professional waxes first to get used to the feeling and make you skin a little less sensitive.

I've done it myself a couple times. My biggest problem was that the first time I tried, my hair was too long and that's why it was so incredibly painful. I ended up shaving the rest off, then letting it grow back then waxing again.
Also I agree you might be better off getting a professional wax initially, then maintaining it yourself.

Im a baby I think I would end up putting the wax on and not being able to fully pull off the strip. I'm all for paying someone to yank the hair off of me.
I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.
