    Default Bikram Yoga?

Has anyone here tried/done Bikram yoga? While at Deja Vu in Hawaii this summer I met a dancer in incredible shape who was VERY flexible and she swore by it at least 2 or 3 times per week. It's the type of yoga done in a 100 degree room that includes 26 different poses and is supposedly pretty rigorous. The local studio in my area offers an introductory rate of $20 for 10 consecutive days and I'm thinking of going for it. I jog and walk a lot but really need something new as I feel my body has reached a plateau of sorts.

I'd love some info if anyone has it!

I do Bikram yoga and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! It's better for the body because it warms the muscles up before you stretch them and it helps to remove toxins in your system. It's compromised of 26 postures, half of them standing and half of them floor work, you do each posture 2x, and you take rests between each posture. It's almost effortless and you feel frikken wonderful and refreshed afterwards. I suggest trying it out and seeing how you like it and I'll bet you stick with it. That's how I got goat-roped into it.

There was another thread talking about this (don't remember if the TOPIC was the Yoga or if someone mentioned it and it turned into a short convo about it...) Maybe do a search on it? I think that Seraya does Bikram...maybe PM her about it?

Anyways...Yoga is just good. Whatever school you follow. If you are interested in it...do it. Yoga has so many schools, that you just need to try as many as you can until you find that one that is best for you. I love Vinyasa Flow and Hatha Yoga...but, Bikram is not available anywhere right around me...but, I'm sure that I'd love it if it was...

after just one week of doing Bikram compared to just the regular gym class yoga I felt a difference right away, especially since I'm prone to having tight hamstrings. I think what they quote you for price is great especially for the LA metro area.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

Ohhhh I loooove Bikram's Yoga!!! It is a great work out. I am a person who hates the gym but I love to do this sort of yoga. If there was a studio closer to me I would go every day. The first few times you go it is pretty intense but you get used to it quickly. It's best to do it on an empty stomach and to bring a huge bottle of water. The heat makes you more flexible then you ever thought possible! My teacher was in her 60's and didn't look a day older than 45 and did every single move with us!!!! Her skin and body were so beautiful and she said doing yoga every day is her secret. Each class is about an hour and a half. Don't be afraid to sit down if you get tired the first few times you do it. The most important thing is to stick it out and stay in the room with the heat. You will sweat a ton of course so I tend to wear a sports bra and itty bitty shorts because you will die if you are wearing much more than that ....LOL. I saw a women and the studio I take classes at from time to time lose over 70 lbs doing this yoga every day. It really can't even express how great it is. If you live near a studio and can afford it I say give it a try! If you have more questions feel free to PM me .
