A Notable LIVE Saturday Night Live performance was in the mid-Eighties when the Replacements were on and Paul Westerberg said the "F" word. They were banned. Maybe this is why SOME performances are pre-recorded now. His solo band was allowed back in 1993.....he started laughing in the middle of his first song, I don't know whether because he thought it was funny that Lorne Michaels finally forgave him, or he was just having a good time.
Seriously though, I've seen some great "SNL" performances..Black Crowes, Rage Against the Machine, The G Street Band, etc. Bring the real music back! Come on!
For those who missed this priceless tv moment, don't despair, here it is

HAHA! You can tlel the dudes in her band are trying sooo hard not to laugh. How embarrassing for her.
Yea, I noticed how they are trying so hard not to bust out laughing at her...it's a shame cause the band is actually good.

that was so funny.... I thought she was going to just start crying one stage.. poor girl.

Well, you can see what kind of performer she is. Can everyone say "Prima Donna"? As an entertainer, especially during live performance, you learn to roll with the punches when things go wrong. She could've just picked up with the band and finished the set...even if it WAS the wrong song. I can't believe that people pay money to listen and watch this chic. Ick.
Did we really need to see this happen to know this about her?

I think we should lay off the girl a bit. She's a young girl. Everyone makes mistakes. I'm sure she feels bad enuff without the whole world talking about what a talentless piece of shit she is because mistakes were made, not necessarily her mistakes. I'm sure she was mortified and really didn't know what to do.
ET, yeah, is harsh. But is also a depiction of someone who hasn't had to work their way to the top, who hasn't had, like a real live normal band, had equipment mess up in the middle of a performance, or something else going completely wrong, or similar. What she really really really should've done is looked confused for a moment and then keep singing, something, anything. And blaming the band for doing what she should've done, just plowing ahead, was crappy.
"I still have my name
I still have my face
I have not run away from home
Doesn't seem so long
If I now embrace
Every single thing I've never known"

Plowing ahead? Howso? She went onstage to sing a song that was rehearsed and planned. When she got onstage? Guess what? She got thrown a big fat curveball.... We've all been onstage here.... at 15 (I'm just guessing her age) we all are inexperienced. I suppose a big dose of EMPATHY is in order......
And YES, if I went on SNL, and the band played the wrong song, or ANYONE fucked up my rehearsed performance, HELL YES, I would be PISSED.
Isn't it funny how the ENTIRE band played the wrong song? Seems to me that the band all started ONE song together...and kept playing that song...I think the problem was the techie's threw her off when they accidentally played the vocals of her other song...instead of shrugging it off and singing the song...she walks off stage. ???
Anywho...I don't think people are being too harsh. She's blaming her lack of "professionalism" on her band. Nice. If she were a professional, then she would have just rolled with the punches...what would she have done in concert? Walked off the stage and sulked in the Green Room? Her parents must be proud.

I finally got to see/hear the video and this looks like an overall poop-screw from the very start.
The bass player started to play something off then stopped confused.. the guitarist looked confused as all hell and didn't play anything, then the voice track came in and everyone looked at the drummer... the drummer *tried* to then hold it together by transitioning into the proper rhythm (best-guess for where the vocals should have been by then), and bassist and lead guitarist finally poured in. You'll also clearly hear the bass player stumble 3-4 notes during this transition and slightly afterwards. He was just as lost as Ashley, as was everyone else.
It's pretty clear the voice-over was mis-matched and the whole band felt awkward and tried to steamroller over this major fuck-up. I laughed my ass off at Ashley's "hoe-down" dance since it was perfect expression of comedic futility for just how far screwed that track was destined to be... finally with her walking off stage.
Being of past musical background, I hate to see this happen to anyone. An appearance with any degree of viewership go totally and utterly wrong from the start is SOOO frustrating. I can understand Ashley's behavior... and even if she did continue or try to pull it together, it was already pretty doomed to begin with.
It doesn't matter if you're somebody in this world, it rather matters you mean the whole world to somebody.

I didn't realize it would be all over the news. Even on my local 10pm newscast. Craziness.
Apparently the official excuse is her acid reflux disease. She lost her voice that night... ummm sure.
Because there ain't no tits on the radio

Ya acid reflex disease?lol I have that and it Never bothers my vocal chords or any part of my throat.. Nothing swells up in that area. I think that just ruined her career..

Lips, Hips, and Sugary Tits

Oh y'all come on now! With that getup she had on and that lil hoedown she was doing, I'm thinking that was just a giant publicity stunt to make it easier for her switch to the obviously more desirable career in hoedown performing. Clearly she's just rebelling against the trap of the pop music machine so she can concentrate on her beloved hoedown!
The bottom line on Ashley is that she is riding on her sister's coattails and her father drives both of their careers. She has no talent and frankly shouldn't be preforming. I am all for the sympathy vote for the disaffected, but not the scheming, no talent, opportunistic people this represents.
I wanted to say what I meant, but I had to tone it down a bit.![]()
i wasn't able to view the video (dam) but i wonder if this is going to be on her "show" that would be funny, just to see her reaction!
the slutty one

I wouldn't say Ashlee is hurting anyone or committing fraud, so all's fair in the world of capitalism. Talent is defined as "a marked innate ability". I don't know how Ashlee sings because she was lip sincing, but I do like her songs. Most of the people in the pop industry learned to sing and dance, they didn't come out of the mother's womb doing it. Some people couldn't do it period, but with time and a lot of hard work, a lot of people could. Now to say she shouldn't be performing, that really is just an opinion. The music industry just wants to sell records. They couldn't give a rat's ass about the music, and if Ashlee can sell records, then she is successfully fulfilling her mission. I'm not going to automatically denounce someone because they were born the sister of another person. It just wouldn't be fair.

Who the Hell is Ashley Simpson
and why is she showing up on my TV?
cute teenager, though, even with all that black hairdye
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.
Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.
