I have a question about the new removable one-- do you need to find a ceiling stud ? I'd worry that the pressure would put a hole in the ceiling if it wasn't under a stud. Can you advise?

PS - Glad to see you selling them on Ebay now- I am one of the bidders on the one that's up now !

I was wondering the same thing.. I want one, just the removable pole, not the stage, infact I was going to buy one last week, until I saw the price.. $300 seems really steep in my opinion I think I would buy it at $200, but $300 plus shipping is crazy to me. sorry.

Velvet, thanks. There has been so much talk about the stability of the Platinum Stage as well as the New Removable Pole that I wanted to address it in a viable forum.

The New Platinum Removable Pole is not a toy a.k.a. a glorified closet pole. This pole is made with commercial quality swiss bearings unlike anything currently on the market. Most of the poles we distribute are to strip clubs around the world. Platinum Stages is the only company to commercially make spinning poles for clubs. We incorporated this technology into the Platinum Removable Pole.

All Platinum Stages poles are made out of .065 wall, mirrored finish stainless (most poles are only .050) we custom import that wall thickness to provide the stability that is needed for the craziest of tricks. $299 is a VERY good price for the materials that we use, the price is actually going to be going up to $349 very soon because of the rising costs of steel but it is currently at $299. We do have bulk discounts for instructors ordering more than 5 poles. Email us any questions or comments to [email protected]

ALSO WE OFFER A 1 YR LIMITED WARRANTY ON ALL PLATINUM STAGES PRODUCTS.

Well this really motivated me to finally look into this today... Actually I phoned a local metal fabricator and asked for a piece of 2 1/2" [.083] high polish stainless steel pipe, the price is $18.00... oh and the 2" [0.65] is $15.... he also gave me info on a local company who takes small projects, and will put it all together for me for a little over $70 including the hardware.. it wont be removeable... but who cares.. lol

and the fixer up guy in my development will so install it for me free of charge...

The unit does not touch the ceiling. The pole is bolted through the stage. Check out the video clip of the deja vu 2004 pole dancing gold medalist doing her stuff on: http://www.platinumstages.com
you can see that it does not touch the ceiling.

Heartkore- "You get what you pay for". There is no way you are getting stainless steel 8 foot mirror finished pieces for $18 unless you are getting some sort of "bro deal". By the time you are done building what you are doing, it will cost you well over $369 for the complete stage with surface and sides. 25% of our business comes from people such as yourself that have attempted through hassle and effort to assemble a stage that has a pole in it but after 10 minutes of dancing on it falls apart. The Platinum Stage has been designed to break down into several pieces for transport. It is powder coated and ready for dancing.

Your other option is to order, wait for UPS to show up at your door and assemble within 20 -25 min and start spinning on a known product that has been tested over time. Trust me as I tell you there is no comparison in price and quality to the Platinum Stage. We have been around for over 3 years, providing dancers and ordinary people with an outlet for a non intrusive pole in their house.

I think she is just talking about having a pole with no stage...I don't think she wants a stage.

so are you telling me they lied to me, I am not going though a hardware store but a metal fabricator, and I spoke with 2 employees who gave me the same prices.. and I don't want the stage, just the pole with ceiling/floor flanges & hardware.

It will most likley be a bait and switch situation. You may be able to get a metal pipe with "polishy surface" for $15. We sell just the stainless pole with the mounts for $159 complete with everything. I thought you were talking about the stage.

The mounts alone that are made for the 2" pole are about $19 at our price normally anywhere else about $29. We also custom cut your size and ship it to your door. If you are going to piece the project out be careful. Like I said a lot of our cusomters come from -$200 in the hole trying to make their pole work and then have to fork over $159 to get a professional unit from us.

Let us know if we can help you, thats what we are here for.

Well, just so you know...I have a brass pole in my home. Paid about $75 total for everything. It's been up and works fine. Had someone who knows what they are doing install into the studs. It doesn't come down much...but I don't really care.

It's a lot more work, but I just cannot see paying over $100 for a piece of metal and some flanges. Others may be willing to do that, but just not me.

I am sure that Platinum Stages sell superior products...just not in a price range I am willing to pay for.

I could kiss you Venus!!! thank you! I am not gonig crazy over here..

This is not a "do it myself project, I am having "professionals" build and install the pole, I am just providing it.. *as my last posts state* when you lose the middle man you save money... infact I called another metal fabricator this afternoon in another county and they want to charge me $20 for a high polish stainless steel pipe... I am sure they are not trying to scam me as well... we are not talking about a car dealership here... just stainless steel pipe pipes.. lol

also if I were not able to find high polished pipes, just the plain stainless steel , then I would buy the high polish for $10 and take it and have it sanded smooth..

Okay, I don't know much about stripping, but my hubby (a certified mechanical engineering technologist) says you can definitely do it for cheaper by cutting out the middle man if all you want is a standard pole that can take the weight of someone dancing on it.

Just make sure you do your research (which sounds like you are) and you'll be fine.

It won't be the fancy spinning dealie with the stage and all, but if that's not what you want it for (like for maybe just practicing) that why pay that much?

Maybe I missed it but I was wondering if I'd need to find a ceiling stud or not with the removable spinning model.

I know it's fricton mounted and all but there must be upward pressure, right? Can you advise ?

    Thanks!

After "retiring" my hubby installed one for 83 dollars. Complete with a stage and some lights.

OMG I had to laugh when I say that man on the pole! SO unsexy.

Humble apologies to the man himself. I'm sure I probably don't look much better either.

Yes, you need a ceiling stud for ALL poles. Otherwise, the pressure (or flanges/screws) will go right through the dry wall. Ooopsy! Heh heh

Thankyou VG that is exactly what I was worried about !

Hey Platnium- Ever think of including a stud finder in your sales packages ? I'd think of it as a great addition and I'm probably not alone.

    Just a thought

don't bother bidding, tigerlily. they have a reserve price set (which is probably the selling price) and their buy-it-now feature is the exact same as if you were to buy it on their site.

Not a deal, if you ask me.

The stud finder is coming with the Platinum Removable Pole in about 2 weeks. Thanks for the input. The Platinum Stage is a clean unit, designed for stability and being lightweight for mobility. It can be set up and broke down in about 10 min.

Dont get me wrong, you can build a stage out of wood and stick a pole in it for sure for $100. This unit is designed to withstand the test of time and is made out of steel for easy portability. The options that we offer include clear plexi surfaces for webcams underneath and mirrored tops as well as an assortment of other options.

    EXAMPLE OF A MIRRORED SURFACE

You can build one for a little less, I am sure but when you look at the Platinum Stage you will see how simple the whole thing actually can be. It breaks down to fit under a bed or you can use it as a coffee table...
PLATINUM STAGE WITHOUT THE POLE CAN EASILY WORK AS A COFFEE TABLE!

I had a Platunim Stage and it's very stable! It got in the way every now and then and I would bang in to it - but I'm really clumsy. : )
