Default how much antibacterial use at work is too much?

there've been a lot of threads on how to keep sanitary working nude or topless, especially in higher contact clubs. but they all involve using lots of antibacterials. i just want to know how often is too often. googling on overuse of antibacterials mentions that this can sometimes increase disease risks due to irritating delicate membranes and also wrecking healthy bacteria balances in the body. is there stuff i can use that isn't antibacterial for wiping down the pole (it's only wiped down 1-2 times a night where i work) and suchlike? i want to be sanitary, but i don't know if using antibacterial wipes constantly half the week is all that good for my body, or for disease prevention.

If you use antibacterial hand gel stuff, you will totally ruin your nails.IT really dries them out and your hands. You are better of using a lotion antibacterial, like bath and body works.I could see how it could cause problems about the membranes thing, because it causes you to dry out and cause skin to crack open ,ouch.

Wiping off thre pole with a clorox wipe and such is great. I never used antbacterial products on my hands, you are right with what you heard, actually. What happens, we need to be exposed to certain germs, so we can build antibodies up. Most germs we wont even get sick from that we touch. I am a constant hand washer, even if it is just warm water, turn the faucet off with a paper towel and open the door with a paper towel. Germs hang around the door handles more then bathroom stalls. Plus being around all these people in a closed environment is bound to put you at a bigger risk.

I would not worry about it much. Just wash and don't touch your face! If someone is coughing try to stay clear.

    Good luck,

    Pamela

You might want to read this:

    http://www.worldwatch.org/pubs/goodstuff/soap/

    In particular:

But studies show that antibacterial soaps are not significantly more effective at combating germs than regular soaps. Even worse, their popularity is contributing to the growing problem of drug-resistance—creating greater opportunities for the emergence of deadly “super-bugs” that are immune to germ-fighting agents. As a consequence, many antibiotics and other compounds used to fight life-threatening infections like malaria and tuberculosis are no longer as effective as they once were. When it comes to germ prevention, there's really no substitute for plain old soap and water.
    Also, this one:

    http://www.chiff.com/a/germs-soap.htm
"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

hmm, well the reason i was asking is that some of the bacterial stds, and also stuff like ringworm are extremely likely to be spread in the high contact/ heavy extras nude clubs i've worked at since bacteria and fungi don't die quickly outside the body like viruses do. though i don't do extras myself, one never knows what the hell is on a given sofa or chair. and none of this takes into account the girls dancing on the pole completely nude multiple times a night, or grinding naked on a customer that you somehow end up dancing for later.

it seems like baby wipes without antibacterials and tons of hand washing and maybe small blankets to lapdance and do stage work on will probably prevent most of my worries. and also wearing long gowns. lordy. thanks for posting, if classic soap and water pretty much have a better shot of killing the bad bacteria, then i might as well stick with that. and customers actually want to do extras in this environment! *sigh*

I interned at a hospital, and they mentioned that what gets rid of germs is the friction of the hands rubbing the soap and warm water together for about 15-30 seconds.

I agree with Silverback and Exotica totally. Most anti-bacterials don't work anyway and even if they do they're only effective against afew types of bacteria. They're not good for your skin or you either.
I keep myself healthy - if your immune system is working properly then you really don't need to worry too much. I take mega doses of vitamin C to help counteract working in a smoke filled enviroment etc. I also use Colloidal Silver in spray or gel form topically if I'm worried about having contacted something or one dodgey! (You can also drink it but you may want to read up about it first...) Theres a thread in the Ladies Only section. You can also spray in on the pole before wiping it down, its great - it kills every virus and bacteria known, and is non-toxic.
