    Default Enforcing rules

My manager and I were talking about our dressing room situation. Per club rules there is to be no eating, srinking or smoking in the dressing room. Over the years this has not been enforced. There are always cups left around, not to mention the possiblity of under age drinking, sometimes, but no to often plates of food are left and with the dressing room being so small it gets smoky very quickly.

His question to me is, how to enforce the original rule of no eating, drinking or smoking without having to resort to fines being assesed and how is this going to be monitored.

    Any suggestions?

I know its not popular but...

Fines work. Its really the only thing that gets the attention of all the dancers.
Its sad and childish that it has to resort to fines, but its the only way imo.
Talking and posting signs dont work.
Having a head mom/mgr/head dancer check the dressing room a few times a night is a good idea anyways.

I'm just curious, but... where do you eat if you can't eat in the dressing room?

At my club, there is no drinking in the dressing room. This helps with under age drinking as well as drinks not getting spilled on outfits, bags, etc...

We can eat in the dressing room, just no drinks.

We are also allowed to sit at a table with a customer and eat as long as we clean up our mess...

We will get fined if the rules are broken.

If its a 4 hour shift, before or after work.
If its an 8 hour shift,on the floor with a customer picking up the tab.Or the before or after work thingy works also.

When i was a mgr,i had enough of accidents involving drinks or bbq wings dumped into or on girls stuff.

Nothing like running into the dressing room to change before your set and finding your suitcase full of chicken wings, extra sauce.

Fines work. No one should be in the dressing room, except to dress or go to the toilet. You are at work, the only place to do that is in the club. Having said that, we all need a break from time to time. That's when management has to know when to look away. Being a club manager is not easy and too many clubs hire morons for the job.

Alot of the girls at my club act like pigs in the dressing room. Ugh I hate it since I'm such a neat freak. Coffee is constantly getting spilled into girls bags on the floor and since no smoking is permitted in cali I lucked out with that one. The girls leave all their fast food trash behind for the poor waitress to pick up and since we dont have a janitor she's there at the end of the night picking up trash instead of going home to her family. I always try to give a hand but gees I've noticed this is becoming a problem in my club too. What can a dancer do to encourage cleanliness amongst other dancers?..Hmmm

My club has 6 or 8 hour shifts, we don't serve food, and I wouldn't feel comfortable eating in front of a customer at the same time as I was trying to be sexy and seduce him into dances. I think a lot of customers would prefer that we appear to be perfect beings who do not eat, shit, pee, fart, etc

Even with 4 hour shifts, you can't tell someone they can't eat at work. Some people have problems like hypoglycemia where you have to eat every so often. There has to be a place that girls can eat. I would LOVE to be able to eat somewhere else in my club, like the office or something, because the dressing room gets so crowded at night, but I can't.

Oh and if girls want to fuck with other girl's stuff, they will. My friend at work said that oncew she got home and saw that someone had SHIT in her suitcase! Isn't that gross??

1st dealing with trash and belongs at end of nite. We have a meeting every nite after the club closes. you get fined if not at meeting. as much as our manager hates doing it, he inspectes the dressing room after we're all out of it before the meeting. If not clean enough he won't start the meeting till its cleaned.

2nd smoking is only aloud in dressing room, sitting with a customer. thats it. if girls can't smoke in a lady like fashion in dressing room, ie burnin stuff and so on. then she'll get in trouble.

3rd eating, i agree you can't tell girls not to eat at work. its a very physical job. we are aloud to eat, yet you have to clean up your mess. we have a small dressing room. so it sucks on the wknds with 20 girls. we are aloud a break when wkin a double shift. so we can leave to eat. we are not aloud to eat in customer area, more then less anwhere past drssing room doors.
I suggest eat before coming to work, during schuduled break times or after work. Or set up a eating onl area in the club for the dancers.

4th drinking, have it so dancers can onl drink things with a screw top, thermo, etc. liquier if you are under 21 and drinking you get one warning i believe then ya suspended. we hav cameras in our dressing room, so they tell alot.

if all else fails, have steap fines or suspended or fire the dancers. if a wont good dancers, get rid of the bad. we have very few problems at my club with dancers.

    good luck!!

I HATE no eating rules at clubs! At GGC we had that rule because of course they wanted the dancers & staff to buy food from the club - except there was absolutely nothing on the menu I could eat! >.< Theoretically you could bring a bag or something to work and ask the waitress to put it into one of the fridges for you, but peh, I'm not gonna interrupt her to bring me a PB&J from home. Plus, if I remember right, we didn't get discounts on food like resturant employees do.
Of course there were enough thieves so that NO ONE left ANYTHING out to get ruined or stolen in the dressing room ever.
At this current club, we aren't allowed to eat in front of customers, something about a dancer navigating a double-quarter pounder w/ cheese fails to incur that atmosphere, what is it? the one where the customers find the dancers attractive. However, they did complain about dancers spending too much time in the dressing rooms.

When I worked a normal job, you had a lunch room to eat in. No eating around customers, even snacks. Lunch room you could eat whatever the heck you wanted, or even leave the building for your lunch. You were obliged to clean up and if a manager saw you making a mess you could get suspended - there was a camera there too, though I really doubt they ever looked at it. Someone else was employed to make sure normal messes were cleaned.

Geez, you'd think one bonus of being IC is being able to eat your lunch when and where you feel like. >.<

We have the same rules; just enforced. Eat where the customers eat, or in the kitchen if you can. Post a sign about being fined &/or a bouncer should do dressing room checks to make sure it's being enforced.

Trust me, just the threat of fines works.

We don't have fines where I work, if you fuck up you get fired or suspended. That seems to work pretty well here.We can eat whatever we want whenever we want and wherever we want. We are also allowed to have alcohol in the dressing room but only if there are no underagers working that night. We can smoke drink and eat in the Dr like a bunch of Sailors and no one cares. But we also pay to have our room cleaned every night.

Well, as long as the girls have a SAFE place to do this stuff...without being bothered by customers...I would say that they should be fined. If there is really no other place for them to go eat, relax, and have a smoke without being bothered...then I would say just let it go. It's only going to cause more problems.

BTW...does your club have a housemom? If not, I've found that housemoms can really "clean" the situations up. Reminding the girls to throw their garbage away and all...with having a set fee for the housemom...it could be worth it to get one if you don't have one...

A house mom would be great but our club isn't big enough for that. We do have a break table in the kitchen for girl to use and we are allowed to eat on the floor. Today I go in the DR to freshen up and I have to stare at a plate of half eaten chicken sandwich that looks like it's been there for hours!

There's not a lot of ventalation in our DR and it's on the small side. I came in one day and the dor was propped open with the trashcan because it was so smoky but there were two girls in there puffing away. (I am a former smoker and I do respect the right of others to smoke but come on!)

I agree that the only way to stop this would be to fine for violations. I myself would probably get fined beacuse I am guilty of taking drinks back there.

Thanks for the input ladies and gent! I'm gonna pass this along to my manager.

Where I work, we can eat, drink, and smoke out on the floor or in the dressing room. I prefer to eat in the dressing room because I feel weird eating in front of customers. The other day I ordered some food. I was sitting with a customer and I excused myself to go eat, but he didn't want me to leave him. So I sat and ate by him for a little bit, but he kept trying to talk to me while I was eating. It got annoying after a while, so I just excused myself to go to the dressing room and continue eating. I just told him that I feel funny eating in front of customers and he said that he would wait for me.
