    Another pain question

I just read about the leg pain and advice you all gave. That helps me also a bit. I need help about pain that doesn't go away after dancing for a while. I have knee pain (which was already covered) almost constantly, very sore ankles, and my muscles will start to cramp when I'm at work. I'm already in good shape, and have danced off and on for a year (just never this many days in a row). The girls I work with say they only hurt for a few days. I do use a heating pad for my back, and I always warm up and stretch before I dance. What might be my problem? Oh, my ankles hurt most with the shoes, so I have switched to boots only for this week. I want to be able to wear the shoes though! Help!!

Dear Artemis, did you do athletics in school? If so, the pain might be from pre-existing strain. You should wear boots as long as you need to, stripping is not worth getting crippled over. Look for good quality shoes, the cheaper ones slide around, which is dangerous....
Hit the local vitamin and supplements store, there are things to take and eat which improve joint health and muscle elasticity. I take a lot of GNC products and dance full time, and do not have trouble anymore.

Try relaxation techniques like Yoga or Pilates. Stress can make pain last longer and feel more intense. Also try adding a bit more protein to your diet so your body definitely has enough to repair itself. Finally, rest, rest, rest. You're going to need all eight hours a night. Take it easy.
