    Sad Dental Retainer Question

I haven't worn my retainer in two and a half months. I wore it every night for 3 years, but just forgot to pack it this time. Has anyone had this happen? Did you have signifigant tooth shifting? My teeth are a little sensitive right now. Thank you very much in advance.

I'm a bad bad girl and never wore mine when I was supposed to. I haven't had them in my mouth since 1997! My teeth have moved since then, most definitely, although not as bad as they could have because I had surgery to cut the ligaments that were attatched to my "problem" teeth.
If it has been a few months, I wouldn't worry too much. Just get back into the habit. You will probably be fine.

Thanks hardkandee. I'm waiting on my retainer in the mail. If my naughty teeth did go shifting on me, I'll post here as a warning to all.....maybe I'll include a scary dental hardware pic!

If you just forgot it one night, you'll be ok. But they're sore because they're shifting back. Keep wearing it if you want the teeth you're paying for. I never did the retainer thing, and now they're not as "tightly packed" as they would have been. No gaps though.
