I got implants 6 days ago. I am still numb on both my nipples, but I do get this sharp pins and needles sensation shooting on my left side, and it started today on my right today. I think that is nerve regeneration. I am starting to have more sensation today.
If this is any indication, I should probably have full sensation in about 5-6 weeks.
I hope this is helpful, but I'm still getting used to these things!

No, you do not lose nipple sensation(at least I haven't). It feels the same as before. At first, they will be numb like Paris said, but it will go back to normal. For some they do feel a bit intense, I heard...I can't really tell you bc mine feel the same as before. And mine aren't always hard as I thought they would be, but most of the time they are.Originally Posted by Chani_Fremen
With saline implants yes...you can breast feed your child. I'm not sure with silicone, you can....but I wouldn't chance it since I heard of some stuff that's called platnum found in some of the girl's system. Not sure, you may want to look into that. I plan on getting silicone for my re-do but I really don't care for breast feeding bc i've never wanted to anyway. Let me see if I can find some more info. And good luck.![]()
What type of implants do you plan on getting?

Okay, I just copied and pasted this message someone posted...it's from the implant forum:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was reasearching the subject earlier today. Not alot of info out there....Seems levels of active platinum is showing up in the urine of women with silicone implants. Also in the breast milk. I understand the platinum is used to help bind the silicone oil together, making a gel consistancy. I think some side effects have been vision and hearing problems, and confusion due to the metal interfering with the brains elect. activity...or something like that!LOL. Hummmmmmm just what I need..oh well, I will watch the studies and see what conclusion the scientist come up with. I have been reading to much study info recently..most of them don't have enough info to report accurate stats. I may have what few facts I gathered wrong...anybody read about this???![]()
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't worry too much about it, bc it's not accurate. And it's nothing to be discouraged about over either if you choose silicone. But this is what I read that made me tell you not to chance breast feeding your baby if you get silicone. You never know.

Paris you are correct. the sharp shooting pains are nerve regeneration.
Chani, after my implants, my nipples lost sensation, then they became hypersensitve (one moreso than the other) then within a year they had their regular sensation.
Or maybe they became hypersensitive first and then numb? argghhh It's been a few years I don't remember.
Don't have any personal experience w/ nursing and implants.

Thanks guys!
I was thinking of getting saline implants just because they seem safer. I don't have the money for them yet so this won't be for another few years down the road.
I wouldn't mind if my nipples got a weird feeling for awhile, as long as they go back to normal eventually.
I don't plan to having any kids for a number of years but when I do decide to get knocked up I do hope to have the ability to breastfeed them.

With saline, it's totally safe & ok to breast feed.Originally Posted by Chani_Fremen

My nipples are fine![]()
I breast feed 2 of my children with the implants.

I've had my saline unders for 5 1/2 years. Nipples were numb for a very short while after surgery.
Nipple sensation came back full-tilt boogie and then some!![]()
Big difference between overs and unders....if they are under the muscle you will likely have a month or two of numbness followed by about two weeks of hypersensitivity (feeling like you have a sunburn) then back to normal. Ifs a little unusual to lose sensation with unders.
Overs have a much higher chance of loss of sensation. All the nerves come up through the muscle so when that plane is dissected nerves are cut.
Breastfeeding is tough to predict. Many women who have implants have never had kids so its tough to know if they would be able to breastfeed without implants (I've heard as many as 20% can't breastfeed period due to other problems). Again with unders the reported ability to breastfeed is higher than with overs.
