    Default Goth style

I have a question, do any of you find it profitable to dress in the goth style, especially if it is your style to begin with.
I like to dress in goth outfits during the day, and I ocasionally carry the look into my dancer outfits. I do intense black eyeliner, black lipstick, Im rather extreme. Sometimes I get crazy tips (20's 5's) and sometimes I just get the strange looks
I cant really tell if im actually making more this way or not Ive been dancing for 3yrs

well, if you are trying to market yourself to maximize your profits, then definitely don't do the goth thing. I know it's good to stick out, but you are going to turn off a lot of the conservative older guys, and those are the ones with the money.

i donno, it depends on market. the Goth Girl At Work (also tattooed, but very artfully) does extremely well overall and sold a lot of champagne rooms when she worked in topless clubs. someone here posted that goth girls often do really well in clubs, especially if they have some domme tone to their look and are also the only one doing it. informally, at several of the clubs locally (nude and topless), i've noticed goth/fetish/domme looks to work pretty well for a girl, if she is the only one in the club doing that. but it could be different in other areas. there's pretty sizable (and lucrative) bdsm/goth/fetish subcultures here, some members of which frequent strip clubs.

My goth friend at work does really well, but she's been dancing for awhile and knows which customers to focus on and what to say.

Nayeth. Different stroke for different folk, but I wouldn't personally spend money on you.

    Goodluck though.

I have seen a few goth girls come and go at my club. Most of them could not get customers to their stages to save their lives. One goth chick complained to me, "I don't understand--I'm a Goddess at this goth club (that I worked at as well), but no one likes me here." I would have to say that it depends on where you are--if you are at a hip hoppy club like mine, then the goth look will not maximize your earnings.

I think most men aren't into goth chicks but some are so it is possible to make pretty good money. I think it depends on many things.
"And Bill, lamenting how you never see a positive drug story on the news..."Today, a young man on acid realised that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration and that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and you are the imagination of yourself. Here's Tom with the weather...!"- Bill Hicks, The Greatest Comedian Ever!

Goth, done well on the right chick, is incredibly fucking hot; think Succubus, only minus the wings, and you get to leave alive at the end of the night with your soul (largely) intact. Plus, she's probably into Slayer and Death and all that real music they don't play in strip clubs...

However, most chicks cannot adequately pull this off; either too many tattoos, too many poorly located tattoos, or too many piercings and all that contributes to the reduction of feminine qualities that men are looking for in a strip club. If you look like a friggin' Rorshach pincushion, I'm not going to want you in my lap. But if you look like you belong in a Danzig video, I'm there with bells on.

Dark, brooding and demonic chicks can be good, but it's a tough thing to successfully accomplish. Ask BloodyDewDrop; she knows how it's done. So does this other chick on here whose name escapes me--StarDog. Knew I'd come up with it.

Goth Girls can do well at some clubs depending on the club Demographics of the one your dancing in for it to work. (i.e. if your club caters to the Urban Hip Hop crowd, the Goth Style will not work and you will scare the audience into thinking your a "Devil Worshiper" or if the crowd is mainly the Country Crowd it will not work either.-- My Ex GF had to learn the hardway...

As stated above if you have too many poorly done Tattoos and Agressive piercings (i.e. walking pin cushion) it will tend to keep potential earnings (customers) away.

The way of earning $$$ doing Goth Style is keeping the look FEMINE and Approachable, even when trying for a Dom look. What tends to go well for me is the Betty Paige look, Marylin Monroe, and Catholic School Girl with White Blouse, Checkerboard Skirt,Leather Accessories, and Thigh High Dom boots (this also works very well with Punk girls too). The key part of making Goth work for you is to keep it Simple, Femine, and Appraochable, to attract customers.

The second part to making it work is Club Demographics your target audience for the Goth Style to work is going to be more than likely Educated, Middle Class, Mid 30's-Mid 20's white males in a multi cultural area with lots of intellegensia around. This because a good portion of us grew up in the 80's as being Goth or Punk and having crushes on a Goth or Punk girl with femine looks at one time or another [Amy S. where are you?]. We can connect and we get it.
Therefore, you will make money from us.--nostalgia.

A similar market idea will be the classic rock crowd as mentioned in another forum paraphrased as ( When we play classic rock at the club it makes all 45 yrd men feel young again and they give us lots of $$$)--again nostalgia at work.

P.S. Also keep the make up simple, and whatever you do-- Do not under any circumstances wear the Pancake White Make up as part of the Goth ensamble, if your are Dancing at the club it does not look good at all, and will dicourage customers for two reasons:

    1. We want Lap dances from a "Dancer" not a "Clown".

    2. If a customer is trying to hide from his S/O that he's been to a strip club, the last thing he wants is to risk is being caught by having a bunch of white powder make up rub off on him, and trying to explain it away to his S/O when he get's home (unless he's a Baker or Columbian Drug Lord).

Sorry about being long winded, but I hope I got my point across, and hope it helps.

I hear that goth is really big in Montreal. I have piercings but I'm not goth. I do like the smokey bedroom eyes and "real" music as well. I have two small real diamonds on my lips which accentuate them as well as diamond nose and brow piercings. You can still have your own unquiness and style as long as you can carry it off and make it look good. I personally tone down the fact that I have piercings, dance to harder music and have dark eyes by wearing pink and glittery stuff. I dunno, maybe just see how a toned down look goes for a night or two. Can't hurt. But don't conform all your individuality and freedom of expression for a bunch of judgmental playboys! 'Cause that's a piece of you you are sacrificing.

I have to say, I disagree with this statement. We are all playing an act and trying to be our customer's dream girl (or at least, you SHOULD be trying). There is nothing wrong with being who they want you to be if you want take this job seriously. Without those "judgmental playboys", we wouldn't have a job.

Yes, well I do sacrific a lot since I use to be goth myself and am no longer. But in my personal matter I do not sacrific my piercings, I toned them down and took out a few but have not sacrificed them and am making pretty good $$ still. If all of us sacrificed ourselves to judgmental people we wouldn't be dancers, we'd be whores. I bet most of the girls have been shot down for not doing extras and being the dirty horny girl of this man's dreams. No matter what it is, if you feel strongly about it then don't sacrific it. This is just my opinion however.

You are taking this off on a tangent. I'm not saying be a whore. I'm saying that if you want to make more money in this business, you should try to appeal to as many customers as possible.

Extactly! I agree with you all the way hun. But without getting personal and sounding creepy some peoples' styles, be it body mods or whatever, are an expression of who they are, it can go as far as their morals and ethics. I know this sounds weird but trust me, I have experienced it first hand. I am who I am and I like who I am and I'm not throwing that away for nobody! Just like I don't do extras just to please some guy and get some easy money. That is my choice, just as it is your choice to be who you are. I still do well without doing extras as well as I still do well with my piercings. As someone else stated above, different strokes for different folks. I'm not sarcificing everything to please.

I think it really depends on the girl and whether it looks attractive on her. I don't generally like the look at all, I don't like a lot of piercings nor do I like tatoos. But I remember one girl who had it all and I thought she was really hot and I bought a bunch of dances from her. I think what attracted me was she also had a nice smile, she wasn't one of those brooding ones. I liked her and I'm one of those conservative older guys. If it's you, just do it.

Thank you all for your replies
I was just wondering on this subject. As far as make-up, I wont do the powdery goth thing or glitter, either. I know guys dont want to get caught<lol> I do occaisionally do the black eyeliner and some black/bright red lipstick. Ive had a lot of guys tell me I look like Betty Paige..ha ha I have one tattoo that is hidden behind my hair that you can only see when I flip upside down. No piercings. (I believe that I do not have to have these things to look gothic)
I swear Ive gooten major tips on stage (20's 5's) just because my look is entertaining and different, not necessairily extreme. And also, when I dance to Danzig, Ive been tipped just for that!!
I noticed that when I have a good attitude throughout the night, things generally work out for me. When I get strange looks, I brush it off, and tell myself that they dont know what they are missing.

Girl, we are all getting 20s and 5s state tips occasionally.

I think it's worth experimenting....tone it down as much as you can and see what happens to your money.

Another thing to consider is if anyone else in the club is doing the goth thing too. Most of the time it is best to be one of a kind.

Hmm, now I'm tempted to try out the dark makeup again! I really loved the way I looked at this Halloween party I went to. Uh oh. Well, Sinn, good luck. If your money has gone downhill and you are looking to try something diffy, then I say do it!

Full goth has never worked for me, but a Mild gothic look does pretty well...the approachable spooky girl or the friendly dominatrix. Normal makeup with big fake eyelashes, a gothic outfit/lingerie and tall platforms seems to be a winning combination.
