Default What Happens Behind The Scenes?

I've only been a customer at a strip club and soon i will be working casually behind the bar. The girl who is getting me the job there says if she worked full time like some people do she'd go out of her mind what with everything that goes on behind the scenes.

What does she mean? I know that they're all female and personalities clash, maybe some jealously and rivalry, but is there generally a lot of backstabbing, bitching catfights, etc? Whats the inside scoop?

How do i not tread on people's toes. Any unspoken rules?

What she means is yes, there are many clubs that are full of feuds, back stabbing, jealousy, drugs, etc.....

The best thing to do is to go there and do your job. Don't try and make friends. If you become friends with someone, great.. You will become more comfortable after time. Don't become involved in the drug scene as you will not make money that way. The same goes for alcohol. Don't go to work to get drunk. You will start loosing your money, become lazy and get into un-necessary fights.

Not every club is like that. The club I work at is like a big family, we all get along. Once in awhile we get a girl who thinks her shit don't stink or wants to pick fights but we let her know early on that we don't put up with that petty shit there. After time, you will learn the basics, if a girl goes to the bathroom and you know she is sitting with that customer, don't go over there trying to barge in on her sale. Don't talk shit behind the girls back to a customer, etc...

Best of luck and don't let it discourage you.

There is a lot of backstabbing and theivery amoung strippers. But if you think about it, it is understandable. In a way, the job is survival of the fittest like it is in nature. Who ever does better stays on top and whoever is the weak gets eaten. The moneymakers and such don't like another woman to be a threat to her in anyway...its sort of like a constant battle for territory in the form of "I make more money than you, I'm more beautiful, these are MY customers..." type thing. It's hard to explain really. You will understand when your in the industry for awhile.

But not all strippers are like this but you will meet a lot that are. I have met some truely amazing, sweet girls when I was a dancer. But keep your guard up and try to keep to yourself. The less ammunition girls have on you, the less they will fire at you. Keep personal stuff personal and don't talk about other dancers and you should be ok.
"And Bill, lamenting how you never see a positive drug story on the news..."Today, a young man on acid realised that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration and that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and you are the imagination of yourself. Here's Tom with the weather...!"- Bill Hicks, The Greatest Comedian Ever!

Plenty of drama in this industry - LMAO !

Best way to look at it is entertaining-- It can be like a daytime soap sometimes !

It's easier to stay out of drama than you think. Don't open your mouth, and act like you're working at Daycare with small willful children. Ha ha. Sadly, this business attracts a lot of people (male and female) who know they can act crazy in a "zoo" work enviroment. Sometimes it's fun and sometimes it's not. The shit-talking part is the most fatal, because many bar employees become paranoid (either the transient-heavy environment OR a drug habit..) and one little joke or comment gets ballooned into a "Telephone" game of "'So-and-So' is out to get you...."
Work hard at proving your worth to management. You don't have to f*ck anybody, just do your job and don't cause trouble.

Yes alot of competition and some girls are on drugs so they start stupid fights but I always say hi to everybody and never get involved if somebody is trying to start a fight with me I just say whatever and walk away !

    Couple of observations....

The better clubs have less behind the scenes drama, cuz the girls in the dressing room have a lot more at stake and tend to be cleaner (less drug "problems"). However, don't count on management to settle disputes -- there is NO relationship between the quality of the club and the quality of the management. Sometimes, there is more drama among the management and owners than there is in the dressing room. And frankly, I'm sad to say, most managers look on the girls as interchangable meat anyway..... (yeah, I'm on my period, why do you ask?)

The typical age of a dancer is 18 - 22ish. Lots of these girls have never held down jobs that pay anything CLOSE to what they're earning. Add to it that a LOT of girls are in dysfunctional relationships outside the dressing room ("suitcase pimps" and the like) and you get a real cauldron going on. If you've never w--ked in a strip club, it may come as a huge surprise to you to know that dancing, naked, on stage, in a room full of half-drunk old men, is the closest thing to NORMAL that some of these girls do in a typical day, or ever have done.

Finally, the whole environment is a huge hormonal cauldron. It's impossible to do something that's inherently sexual in nature without generating a whole bunch of emotional issues. You go back to the dressing room, and a lot of that bubbles to the surface in a not-so-friendly way.

    Just some observations.....

i just skimmed these posts, so I'm not sure if it had been mentioned yet, but I say that if I worked full time, I, too, would go crazy. If not just the girls, the guys and the mental aspects of the industry. I guess I'm just not that strong, but damn this industry can be sooo draining emotionally and mentally.

If you're starting to work there soon, you will eventually see for yourself. Sometimes there can be fights, but you get disagreements no matter where you work.

Don't get caught up in the rumours until you see it for yourself. You can always leave if you don't like it but don't enter with a bad conception of the place.
