Anyone here ever had any issues with synovial effusion? Aka water on the knee?

No, "Knock On Wood"...
I have known a couple girls before that have....![]()
Gods yes! It was really bad when I had just started dancing. In the first three years, I think I had it drained maybe 3 or 4 times to relieve the pressure, because the medicine that they had given me never worked. I did have to dance with an ace bandage for quite some time, but the good thing about it, was that I dyed them to be color-coordinated with my outfits.. LOL
If you have this, I'm sorry. I know how it is.. Ouch!
I had problems with it YEARS ago when I was a gymnast but it's been a looooong time since i've had issues with it. I switched to boots a few months ago and what knee pain I did have disappeared. I noticed a "pressure" feeling a few days back and now one knee is getting fat.Doh.
Yep. And it hurts like a bitch!!!

Yes, when I first began dancing. It didn't hurt me, but the pressure when I bent my knees was almost unbearable. I took 600 milligrams of Ibuprofen a day (SEE A DOCTOR FIRST- that's just what mine told me to do. Your body could react totally differently). I also applied heat and ice alternately, and avoided getting directly on my knees for about 3 weeks. I still never drop to my knees from a full standing position when I'm at work. I'm still careful about it when I notice that they're feeling all pressure-ey again. Be careful with this, a woman I know had to get her knees drained because she didn't see a doctor right away. So...go see a doctor. And STAY OFF YOUR KNEES!!

God yes. I was an ibuprofen addict for the first 6 months or so of dancing! Learn to do less on your knees, if at all possible. If you must crawl, try using a baby blanket to crawl on.

I had that many years ago and I had to have my left knee "drained". They took a needle and sucked a bunch of fluid out of it. I work out regularly, dance, jog, go bike ridding and haven't had problems with it since. SHOES, make all the difference to me.

I don't actually do much floor work so i'm not crawling around on my knees much. When I started dancing about 6-7 months ago I had some fierce knee pain but since switching to boots with a nice heel it's pretty much gone. I have a standing script for 800mg Ibueprofen so i've been taking that with decent enough success.
