    Default Free Speech

Ok, so today I'm shopping, standing in line waiting to pay and this couple walks behind me and she is talking loudly...

"Oh my god! So I talked to her and she told me she is fk'n stripping! This is no good!" says the lady..

    "Who?" he says..

"I can't believe she is a stripper, argghhhh" she says again...

Everyone in line is looking at her like, "shut up!"

I'm just standing there trying my damndest not to say anything...I could not decide if I wanted to make a smart remark back or to laugh my ass off...

Anyone else have any free speech stories?

If they were talking about you, I would of hit them, if not then I would of told them you were a stripper as well, and do they have a problem with strippers?
They would walk away like punks.

    Hmmm...

Well, last week I walking to a symphony with my date, and a car pulled up to a light next to us. The window goes down, and some dude yells out in our direction, "My cock is 22 inches; it's down to my fuckin' knees!"

Without hesitation I just yell over my shoulder, "You should get that fixed."

Scored points with the date for that.

    LOL

Well, to answer the question, she was not talking about me. She was telling her husband about someone she had talked to on the phone.. Trust me, if it would have been about me, I would not have held my tongue...

The "I'm going to hit you if you talk bad about me" tatic ends with you in jail, the hospital or dead, and it provides people with MORE reason to talk shit...
It may work when you're between the ages of 4 and 11 but once you become an adult you can't walk around beatin on people if they talk shit.

Gabe, you might want to work on the hit first - think later mindset. It will be your undoing.

    Vaden, what's to do?

People who talk loudly in public places (especially when gossiping about others) are usually fairly pathetic people looking for a little attention. Just ignore them.

Where I live, that's all people do is talk shit. No such thing as walking away or you'll be the biggest punk. I wish, believe me, I could of walked away every single time.

I have gotten into more fights then I can frankly count, only one time I almost got in serious trouble for me. I'v gotten stabbed twice, one right below my belly button area and the other on the mid-bottom left of my back.
It's where I grew up is how I adapted. Now I live in a much better neighborhood and things are a lot calmer.

I'm glad you walked away though.

I went to a wedding with an ex a while ago. After the wedding there was an after party at his friend's house. I was friendly with one of the girls and she let me in on her relationship problems. Her boyfriend's ex was a "whore" stripper. So she is going on and on about how strippers are whores and have no respect for themselves..blah blah. She had no idea I danced. I just kept my mouth shut listening to her complain about having no JOB, with a Daughter, and having TWO guys supporting her..while she was finishing up her 8 ball...

I did ignore them. Silly people, the post was about how I thought her story was funny and she was talking to her husband about a phone conversation....I guess only Casual Observer & Prina understood...

Sorry, just any opportunity to pontificate, I guess.

I'll read more carefully next time.

    Ah, sweet lil Gabe....

I just love Joisey boys, I own one myself. Luckily he is 35, but he used to be a lil punk too

I get upset seeing ppl yell and and beat their kids in public, but I don't do anything. Those ppl tend to be very confrontational and its just asking for trouble.

This is why I never tell anyone I strip, these are the types of reactions most ppl commonly have, sadly.....

Yup thats NJ all right. People around here do talk a lot of shit. At least it's not as bad as it used to be about 10 years ago or so. Some high school kids who went to the Prep School took it upon themselves to avenge their sisters' honor by beating some punks severely with baseball bats.

<shrug> yanno...I know some people who are not strippers who are horrible individuals. I also know some people who are strippers who are lovely individuals. None of this surprises me. Take any group of people from any segment of society and you will find that some are smart...some are dumb...some have ethics and morals...some are shitheads...some have drugs...some don't. It's the same all over. I'm sure certain areas of "life" are more prone to certain problems than others....but the percentage of variance cannot be all that much.

Maybe we should rename the thread "Moron Hypocrisy" (or "free speech boomerang.")

I'm glad this discussion is on the board because recently I had a very similar experience.

First, something you all know anyway: There is no more morally self-righteous, back-stabbing, pernicious or hatefully jealous environment outside of an eighth-grade locker room than you will find in your own nation's capital. It's the blood sport of this city. If there's even the slightest chance that somebody can nail you to the cross in public for some perceived moralistic offense, they will do it for power or prestige or just to get even. If you have power or fame, they want it, or they want you to lose it. This has been magnified by the moral crusading nonsense from the recent election.

Well, fuck that. Why buy into that twisted nonsense? So recently I took my ATF and her gf's in full dress-up to the king of political restaurants across town. You know: the place all all politicians, TV people and media folk hang out. Had a great talk with the waitstaff; "haven't seen you in a while," "see you on TV next time," etc. A handful of 50-year-old women in pearls had their jaws on the floor, but what do you expect? (see "hypocrisy" above -- this kind of scene would NEVER happen in NYC or any other reasonably civilized city). It's just great-looking women out for the night and I was counting on their relative anonymity (few are likely to spot them as dancers because they are out of costume and in dress clothes) to shield them. The worst case would mean that any moral crusading shit would only stick to me, not them.

So, the waiters were great. The waitresses at the table were great. Everybody was great.

One problem. I didn't count on the mean-spirited waitresses when they were in the ladies' room! (ARRRGGHH! Amateur mistake! I have three sisters! I know about this!) The scene played out just like Vaden's story, except that instead of making insulting comments about another individual, they start in on them personally, saying how they look like girls from the club (and trying to pump them for more information about me). Then the waitresses start making snide comments about stripping and my ATF and her friends (God bless them) just shut them down right there. I didn't even hear about this until we had already gone across town to a nightclub and they told me about it.

We all had a great time otherwise while at the restaurant, and we'd do it again, but the ultimate lesson is this: there is no getting away from moralistic, narrow-minded judgemental twits. Just don't let them get you down.
