This might sound like a silly question, but I've never had a manicure or a pedicure and was wondering if it's the type of business where you tip or not?

Most definately, they are providing a service for you just like a hairdresser. I usually tip $5 each to mani and pedi. They remember me and I get very good service every time.
I never tipped anyone doing my hands or feet. I guess I should but I only get this done but so often.
I tip well all the time...$5 to each person...but if there is the same person doing both services, then I tip $10. They always go the extra mile and take a little bit longer...no rush jobs.![]()
If you really want to do it cheaply, the best thing you could do would be to invest in a pedicure/manicure set. I don't mean the cheap ones, but the electronic ones with filing discs etc. You can do your nails as often as you like, however you like and it saves you money in the long run. It's also nice because you can do them in the comfort of your home! But if you've never had a mani-/pedi-cure done, then get one done first so you know what to do for yourself.
This is exactly what I practise and you wouldn't believe the amount of comments I have gotten, especially on my feet (even better when I tell people I do my feet by myself and not professionally)! This is because quite a lot of girls in general don't make an effort with their feet or don't show them off.
It shows that a little bit if patience and handiwork can work wonders.![]()

When I get my nails done I typically tip 20% and 25% around XMas. I always get great service and last minute appointments when needed. I see lots of people give $1-2 tips...or none at all... what ARE these people thinking?! I find it just plain rude... then when people see me tip good they look at ME like IM crazy?!
So you wouldn't tip in a restaurant because you only go out to eat so often??? I always tip my people, they work their asses off for me, and will ALWAYS take me as a walk in. I usually give about 15-20%.Originally Posted by SmokyBrownEyez
