Just make sure you dont dehydrate. Try to match your # coffee/sodas with the same # glasses of water.

And remember caffeine can become a crutch of sorts so maybe try to have some decaf after the 1st one of the day. And think about alternating a hot ( or cold) tea in there too or even a real hot chocolate (made with milk or soy) every now and again - hey you need some dairy/protien too right

Point is a little variety and moderation goes along way!

As for tanning- airbrush it baby. Faux tanning has come along way in many respects.Save your skin.

However you need a little sunlight everyday though, but wear a sunscreen if your going to be out more than 15 mins or so..... it's amazing the difference you see in a 35 year old woman who has baked in the sun for most of her life and a woman of the same age and complexion who has stayed out of the sun/ used major sunscreen.

    Hope that helps

Coffee is like red wine....depending on who you ask, it can be good or bad. But those specialty drinks at Starbucks have a lot of sugar, so I would stay away from those. I found the nutritional information for a 16 oz non fat Caffe Mocha: 290 cals, 11g fat and 40g carb. The white one is worse! The non fat white chocolate has 400 cals, 11g fat and 61g carb.

also, as for tanning....is there a way you can tan before or after your workout? or on your days off?

Tanning works best after your workout so try to head straight to tanning after the gym. Or, if you're a member of a gym that has tanning beds....combine that in to your membership fee's and save time on driving. I recommend airbrushing but it's such a pain to keep up. I do a little of both.

Take Emily's advice though.......STAY AWAY FROM THE SPCECIALTY DRINKS at Starbucks. If you like cold coffee (their iced coffee rocks) I get a grande iced coffee (it's made with a cold brew so it tastes yummy) with a shot of espresso. I use Equal instead of regular sugar...and then add half and half (no sugar, no carbs). I've also had the regular hot coffee with a shot of espresso...it REALLY gets me going. Make sure you're drinking lots of water too. Since I gave up caffeine (except for my occaisional coffee's or breakfast tea) anytime I drink it, I get seriously dehydrated.

i tan after I workout since it's close to the gym and since supposedly blood is closer to the superficial layer of the skin which causes your skin to do something or whatever... that's what I've been told by crazy tanners. From the info that Emily posted regarding the coffee... wow I'd rather eat something then drink my calories, fat, and carbs... That's alot of carbs even more than some potato chips. If I drink espresso I'll have two shots in my protein drink.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

Yes, finding time to do it all is sometimes hard. One of my big issues is staying up way too late, and then sleeping the day away. To combat that, I set my alarm for 11am everyday. Even if I am real tired (like went to bed at 6am) I still force myself to get up, go to the gym, tan, eat, run errands etc. I usually have to start getting ready for work at 3:30pm to be on time for a 6pm shift. If I do this a couple of times in a row, staying up until the sun rises doesn't happen. I dedicate my entire day to work, and that is hard. I may have 3-4 hours that don't somehow directly or indirectly relate to work, on the nights I work.

My favorite line from guys is "so what do you do all day?"

If I had to throw kids, school, or another job into the mix I don't think I could get it all done either.

I find it interesting that Starbucks does not publish its own nutritional information

In moderation, it is fine. However, drinking it all of the time becomes an addiction...one in which you need to keep upping the dosage in order to get the same effects. I was up to 6 huge coffee cups per day. Now, I don't drink any. I would save it for the times you REALLY need it...and the rest of the time, just find something else to wake you up.

I found the nutritional info on starbucks one time...which is one of the reasons I quit drinking it. :puke:

As far as tanning i don't do it, but coffee being good or bad? Well alot of people in my family drink coffee many times a day they say, no ill effects. And others just can't handle the jitters after a while it seems. Verdict may not be in as far as coffee goes, but they do say the coffee beans are loaded with impurities.

I used to love coffee when i was congested, very hot, it helped loosen up my congestion it seemed. But too, anything hot will do that.
So i just stopped drinking coffee, now i don't like it. Try green tea! It's great stuff, good for you too.

I found that the more consistently I drank coffee, the more I would need, and then the more I drank, and so on and so forth... Now I'm strictly green tea with honey mixed in

If you wondering about starbucks, here's some nutritional information:
    http://www.dietfacts.com/list.asp?brand=starbucks

    Some highlights:

    Cafe Mocha
    240 Calories
    10 g fat
    5 g sat fat
    31g carbs,

    Cappuccino
    150 Calories
    8 g fat
    5 g sat fat
    13g carbs

    Caramel Macchiato
    320 Calories
    14g fat
    8g sat fat
    37g carbs

So to sum this info up, if you must go to Starbucks, be sure to request skim milk!

I think is more bad than good because it can make you dehydrated and also if you drink it alot then you'll eventually have to have it or else be tired (my mom's this way a true coffee addict for 30 years) or without it a while of drinking everyday you can get a withdrawl headache (I have.) But if you're really tired you've got to drink it I guess. Brush your teeth afterwards (I do after coffee, tea, coke) because they will stain your teeth.
