    Default What would you do?

Ok, so I finally decide to go audtion at some club unfortuantely the club is at least 2 to 2 1/2 hours away. I will be going alone and only dancing weekends. I am starting to feel discouraged that the weather has been nothing but rain. It will be raining this weekend and I feel scared to travel, (I'm afraid of getting into an accident) and scared to have a bad hair day on my first day.

What do you all think? Would you still go anyway? I was gonna go yesterday since I thought i was gonna have a day off for Veterans day but my boss made me come to work. :-( I'm those types (superstitious) that thinks well something always comes up and i can't do it maybe something is telling me not to do it. Considering no one will know where I am or what I am up to. (Can't Tell my Family)

What do you all think would the weather stop you? I'm just scared cause I am new to all this. Don't really know what to expect, Should I just do it? And what do you all think of this time of year? Is it a good time to dance?

    Thanks a whole bunch!!!!!

What are your reasons for wanting to dance at a club that is 2 to 2.5 hours away? (I'm not saying that out of negativity, I'm just curious!!)

Well i live in a small town with only two clubs a nude and a topless. The town is so small that I practically without going already know more than half the clientale. There's no way I can dance in my home town so I thought I 'd dance on weekends at the nearest city so thats like 2 hours away. I thought if i work my butt of hte weekends the trip should be worth it .

I would go regardless of the weather. Just drive very carefully. As silly as this may sound, since I procrastinated on going for so long, I felt a great sense of acomplishment after my first day..lol not to mention that I loved it!!!

    Go, and good luck!

Yea I know what you mean i've been procrastinating for years. I'm just a little scaredly cat. Never go after what I want to do. But I'm ready to leave that behind me and get some balls and do it I just really really need encouragement.

Hey good luck to you. Driving in the rain can be tricky, not because you don't know how to drive, but because of the other morons that insist than can drive even when they know they probably shouldn't lol. Its too bad you have to drive such a long distance. There's a club that I go to that's only about fifteen minutes away from my house and I have yet to see anyone I recognize.

what would I do? I would make the drive at least once or twice. You may find it totally worth your while and that will be your new motivating force.

Driving 2-2.5 hours is not that uncommon for a dancer; I'm based in Connecticut () and I advertise to recruit dancers from as far as Rhode Island and Springfield, MA. For the reasons listed above ("no one to recognize me ..."), interested dancers will travel and are probably the best dancers in the club because the fear of being recognized is gone. It also doesn't hurt that southern connecticut is the one of the wealthiest county in the country.

I'm the same way... I take everything as a "sign", and then talk myself out of going. And no one in my family, or any of my close friends, know what I do, so when I drive somewhere far to dance, I get kind of freaked out too. Especially if the weather is bad. But once you get there, you'll be so glad you did it, and you'll do fine on your audition. Being superstitious is annoying when it prevents you from doing things, but the plus side to that is that you're more aware of your surroundings, which will keep you safe.

I say go, audition, and yes this is a great time of year to dance, and at least you can see for yourself if you could drive there on a regular basis. Good luck!

In some places, it's not uncommon for dancers to "pair up" and drive a long distance. I still laugh my butt off at this story -- and I got it first hand. A friend of mine use to dance in Columbia, SC, which is a pretty big city right in the middle of the state. Some of the dancers were local college girls, but a lot of them drove from as far away as 100 miles, mainly for the same reasons you have. One girl I met there when I was visiting my friend had a "day job" working in a state government office in a small town. She and another girl in her office ended up becomming w-a-a-y more than friends and moved in together. Natch, her g/f found out she was dancing, and decided to start dancing too.

Now, the two of them, lesbian lovers, w--k all day in a very conservative, bible belt state govt office, then 2 - 3 nights a week drive 100 miles to this club and dance together.

    Whatever....

Now..... all you need to do is find a lesbian g/f in your hometown who likes to drive and wants to dance!

I'm scared to drive long distances in the rain. Is there a bus or a train you can take? My car hydroplaned once when I was driving to Houston for work, and if the forecast is heavy rain, I won't go! Its bad enough getting stuck in the flash flood halfway there......

    Stripperella,

I have been really wanting to go for weeks and weeks. I have my dance bag all packed and sitting by the front door. The nearest club to me is 2 hours away. I know i will get hired, because i have been hired before, but didnt show up to work 2 Times!!! im a cowardly Kat. It is friday tonight. I know the club is going to be hoping. because of the holidays. I need to get my courage up like you do, and stop talking myself out of going..... My mother told me on the phone, not to ever let anything or anyone hold me back.from going to school. well, same with this. *I cant tell my family either* and I cant pair up with a lesbian lover from work .. lol They are all 550 pound Battle axes * Anyway I say that you need to go for it. *So do I.*..... Just grab my bag, throw it in the car and put it in drive and go. Seat belts please. and try to grab yourself a prepaid cell phone for an emergency. and if you are that worried about someone knowing where you are if something bad were to happen , then write a note stating your destination and the time.... then stash the note somplace by your computer... if a search party is needed , they will find you. This is what i had to do when working the front desk in a local hotel. especialy if i needed to go to a room for room service. i worked the mid night shift. and ran the whole place all alone. the general manager sugested the writing of the note. stating the room # i went into and the time i left the desk. and the duration i planned to stay gone. Just a sugestion for you. any whooo good luck to you... and please keep us posted. pm me any time too.

Not saying you were guilty of this in your situation, but here's how I reacted to my own "near death" experience in a downpour. I'm the worst about car maintenance, but now I'm a freak about maintaining tires with superior tread. I used to let them get close to the end of their useful life before buying new ones. After nearly hydroplaning into oncoming traffic, I vowed to do whatever rotation/replacement schedule it takes to keep the tread on my tires above average. Driving the same substandard roads during rain or snow since then, I feel the improvement.

Well it really was raining to hard for me to go. :-( but next weekend looks like somewhat better forcast at least not raining they say it's just gonna be cloudy. Katherine just like u my dance bag has been on the floor forever. And I also couldn't pair up with no lesbian friend lol. But this next weekend should be no excuse. I have to do it. Mainly now I feel like I have to do it for myself more than the money since I've procrastinated too long now.
I am not getting any younger.
