    Default thanksgiving / holidays

So this q has probably been brought up...however when I ran a search I didn't see an answer to this so...

What's it like to work the night before Thanksgiving (in U.S.) I know that it's a big bar night around here becayse no one has to work the next day...however, is it a big SC night?

Also any thoughts about working around the holidays? Is new year's eve a bust or...?

Thanksgiving Eve is always really good at my club. It usually starts out slow but picks up after 10 or 11 pm. We also do good for the lunch shift that day too.

Don't know about New Years Eve, my club is open but I've never worked it.

It's a good night to work. Seems that men that show up for family/holiday get-togethers end up hitting the strip bar as a male bonding ritual, while the women are at home cooking or gabbing at eachother. I would work it.

Male bonding at the strip club before a family holiday? I guess that's one way to cope with putting up with the relatives the next day. Don't think it would fly in most families though.

I'll probably be working because I won't have anything else to do, might as well make some money since earnings are usuallly terrible between Thanksgiving and New Years.

I'm not working that week and hoping I don't get fired over it.

the wednesday before thanksgiving is good, but the week after is terrible. It doesn't start kicking again until the weekend after.

Day before thanksgiving is great. New years eve can be good, but some years it seems like it's all kids. Other years it's been great.

the weird thing about New Year's Day is that the morning is actually good where I am because people are actually still up from the night before, and they are drunk out watching the parade

it's kind of weird AFTER the parade when the guys in the parade come in in their clown makeup and costumes (also drunk)

tonight was the worst night i've had at the club i'm at (except for this night, nothing has been less than about 200). with luck i will be in nyc over thanksgiving, but i may put a hold on it until early dec due to craptastic earnings the next few weekends. hopefully they'll be good enough to justify running off to nyc at monthend.

The day and night before Thanksgiving are usually good. Thanksgiving night, if your club is open is also a FANTASTIC night to work, believe it or not. At least here in the northeast, it's a bigger bar night than even New Year's.

Xmas Eve day is also good, as well as Christmas Night (again,if your club is even open).

I don't know about New Years as I've never worked one. I'd think it wouldn't be that good simply because of all the parties, other bars and such and it's such a 'date night'.

I worked Christmas night once and it was awful. Nobody thought we were open.

I'm working day before and day after Thanksgiving. And if I don't get to see my kids the week of X-mas, I'm working again. I did awesome last year, yet this year I'm working in a different area. New years eve-day, Nope Never work again. It sucked so bad!!!! The only reason I did work is cause I got a month free of house fees. It adds up when ya working 3 days a week. then I lost my job at the club a week later, not by choice!!!

Emily, sounds like that club did a very poor job of prompting the fact that they were open. If customers know a place is open, they will come in. On Xmas day and Thanksgiving Day, after being trapped in a house with family, most people are loooking for somewhere to escape and have a drink (or 12 *g*). That's one of the reasons so many movies open on Xmas day too.

I'd recommend to any girls that are thinking of working those days/nights to make sure your club promotes the fact that they are open, or have a long-standing tradition of being open.

That sucks for both you and your club. It costs nothing to get the DJ to announce the holiday hours every hour, and how much does it cost to print up a few flyers and/or cards to leave around the bar/tables with those hours?! *shakes head* Sometimes I wonder if lack of common sense and simple business skills are requirements for being a club manager! *g*
