    Default Crappy Arizona blackjack casinos

I just came back from Harrah's and both of the Gila River Casinos in Phoenix, Butte and wild horse pass. I hated the blackjack games there. Dealer has to hit soft 17's and you can only split aces ONCE. Thats crap. If u play blackjack, go to a casino that the dealer stays on ALL 17's and you can split up to 4 Aces. They do this at Casino Del Sol and Desert Diamond in Tucson. Anyone ever been to the Apache Gold resort ? what kind of blackjack game do they have there ?

    What? You still gambling?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but more restrictive rules at BJ tables are the wave of the future.

Since blackjack gives the casino the least house edge out of all table games, and since people are becoming more astute players by practicing hands for free on cheap and plentiful computer software, casinos in a lot of places are tightening up their '21' rules.
    - Higher table minimums (esspecially at casinos that don't hit soft 17's),
    - restrictions on what hands you can double down on
    - Shallower deck penetration
    - "No-mid deck entry" rules to prevent players from table hopping
    - Deceptive 'single deck' games that only pay 6-5 on a blackjack
    - Chintzy new types of blackjack, (Spanish 21, Super Fun 21, etc.) that give a bigger house edge than standard blackjack.

To my knowledge, most of the non-LV Strip casinos in Nevada (downtown LV, Boulder Strip, Reno, Laughlin) also hit soft 17's, and its very common in casinos outside of Nevada, as you found out.

I guess , we have a pretty good game here in Tucson. You can double down on any 2 cards and split up to 4 cards. As far as table hopping, I wouldn't come to a table mid-deck. You lose the edge. Better to start a fresh 6 deck shoe, so you can do a "front count" of the first 2 decks played. I usually play $10 minimum, then when I have like $400-500, start betting $25 units.
