    Default When they won't pay.

I never ask for money upfront because all the other dancers in my club collect after, and the times that I have tried the majority of them think I'm trying to rip them off. Also I never do multiple's unless it's a regular or they've proven they have the money.

Last night I almost got screwed. One of the big spender's brought some friends and asked me to take his friend to the VIP. After each dance I told him what number we were on and asked if he wanted to go on. We went for a total of 9 dances before his friend came and told him they were leaving. He asked again how much he owed and I told him "225". He acted as if that was impossible and we were not up there that long. In his wallet he had $40, so I escorted him to the ATM where he attempted to fool me by using his drivers license. His friend asked what was wrong, I said "He's short on cash and told him the grand total." HIs exact words were "You fucked him, he owes you nothing." Then he pushed me away. I ran after the both of them and in the process they both fell down the stairs. hahaha. but then he decides to call me a "lying cheating whore." Of course I don't stand for that, so I pinned him against a wall along with the boy I danced for and put them in their place. They shut up, and told me I would get paid. But then after I let them go tried to pull the same crap again. Eventually security came, and the boy says "she's lying she never danced for me." Looks at me and says "Hunny, what are you talking about you never gave me any dances." Then I say "WHAT DO YOU TAKE ME FOR?" very funny. I turned to the security guard who was up their the whole time I was dancing for him and saw us. I told him to please speak up for me, and he shook his head saying he couldn't do anything.

Another security guard pulled me away to a secluded area and yelled at me saying my performance was "unlady like". So I'm thinking they think I gave some extra, which I have NEVER done and never will do. Basically if someone calls me a whore and a bitch, I need to just take it. Not me, let's just pretend but I will always defend myself. He then gave me $200 from the guy but they refused to pay the last $25.

anyway, to aviod this from happening again. What would you suggest I do? Besides collecting before the dances and getting security. How can I attempt to get the payment before things get out of hand?

^ Not to be flippant, but find another club; security is supposed to prevent that shit from happening. If they won't do their job...

    My condolences.

This is why it's always good to collect every two songs or so. Then guys won't have the opportunity to rip you off a great deal of money.
A lot of clubs these days don't stand up for dancers when it comes to collecting for dances, so it might not do you any good to move to another club. But I would probably try it to see.
But no matter what, you should collect more often and not run up a tab with a guy you don't know, even it it seems that he has money.

That's terrible that the security did not even attempt to talk to him. That's crap! I would change to a club that looks out a little more for their girls. And you may not want to or think it will make you look bad, but you should collect up front if you are doing more than say 3 dances..... Just explain to the customer that this is your rule that you place with everyone. Most of them will understand. Tell him there are many girls that collect up front. Good-Luck!

I had a similar incident awhile back I didn't get my money but the thief got a face full of mace from the bouncer (long story. not important now) I used the same method as you, this is song #X or would you like me to keep dancing?

What can you do to prevent this in the future? It's a tough call because many times guys will not want to continue with multiple dances when you interrupt the flow to collect. I found that usually when you collect, they're pretty much done. But if security is not on your side or willing to back you up I would think you're probably better off collecting after 3 or 4 songs.

??? That's awful. Not to be rude, but do you tip the security? If not, that could be it...if you do, you should tell them to go fuck themselves and find a new club.

So much for those so called "security guards." At least you got most of what they owed. I agree with the others here, if the people where you work won't back you up, it's time to find someplace where they do.

That's weak that security would not even help you.

As a customer, I never go more than 2 or 3 dances just to take a break and to settle up. Girls have told me to wait, but I tell him that I rather settle up so I don't lose track either.

Remember about 20 years ago when credit card companies would only give out cards to people with excellent credit?

Now anyone can get them and, as a result, more people are not paying their debts in full because of bankruptcy. One might think that this would be a problem (all that lost money!) but actually the companies make more money this way because of increased spending and interest/fees that they wouldn't normally incur.

What I'm saying here is that if you only extend small amounts of credit to certain customers that seem likely to pay, you will get paid almost all the time. However, if you extend larger amounts of credit to almost anyone (obviously anyone that screams DEADBEAT does not get this privledge), you will make more in the long run, despite the few that don't pay. You just need a good collection agency!

How does your club charge VIP? My club charges by the HALF hour/HOUR. If you dance for 9 songs...then it basically translates into 1/2 hour of VIP...which would be $250. You can have them buy 1/2 hour VIP before ever starting any dances and then telling them that should they not stay the whole time...the price will be prorated. I always got them to stay up there the whole time by saying "There's nothing besides the 1/2 hour and hour prices...let's just stay up here for a 1/2 hour...it'll also be easier to upgrade to an hour, as well." *smile, smile, wink, wink*

I also cannot believe that security didn't fully back you up.

I think what security was talking about when they said that you were being "unlady-like" was referring to your "collection actions" against the customers...I don't believe that they were referring to any "thought" that you were doing extras...

Anyways...let us know how you decide to work that out.

She might have one teensie problem with doing that, (boldface emphasis by me):

There's nothing wrong with stating that collecting up front is a personal policy, but I'd never state that "lots of girls" collect up front unless lots of girls at that club are indeed doing that. Should the customers discover (or already know) that the other dancers aren't collecting upfront, it might reinforce their rip off fears.

Julz, here's another thread on this matter that explains the pros and cons of collecting your money upfront versus letting the customer pay at the end.

    http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40671

One suggestion (and by your quote above, it sounds like you are already doing this) may be to collect upfront just for the first dance so when they get the money out, you can get a glimpse of just how big a tiproll they are carrying. You can adjust the amount of trust from there accordingly. If need be, have the customer explicitly count how much he has.

I also second Brittany and Emily's suggestions. I in fact prefer to pay off my "tab" every 'x' songs to keep the dance count from getting beyond the scope of my memory, (or her memory). It also keeps both parties honest.

You know, it's kinda sad that a few bad apples have to ruin it for everyone. Because most guys that come into the clubs are okay guys who would never rip you off. Luckily most customers actually prefer to settle up after a few dances or so, and I've found that if they've already gotten two or three from me, they always get more. I usually just keep dancing as they are paying me so I don't lose a song either. I know that some of you don't like to dance unless it's a full song, but I don't think the guys really mind if for about 15-30 seconds I'm not dancing because we're getting everything "square".

We tip out everyone to the DJ along with our house fee. The only people we tip out separate is the house mom, and the valet.

My club charges per song. Any floor in VIP, CHampagne, or Crytal is $25, floor dances are $15. But I think the 1/2 hour deal is something I might try to sell on my own

You are right about the unlady like deal. But if someone calls me a whore, and I didn't even dance for him AND they won't pay me. I'm going to lose it.

I had a asswipe last nite like that. it was early, but after a few minutes talking i asked if he wanted a dance. sure! so i did. then he handed me $2 friggin bucks! i said, its $20, not $2. he said no way, then grabbed back his $2. i told a bouncer who confronted him. the guy said he wouldnt pay and was leaving. the bouncer didnt try to force the issue, and the guy left. tho i was only out $20 it made me feel bad and the rest of the nite had a gloomy air about it. some guys really suck. anyway i made decent cash. oh well, forget it, its part of the biz.

    my two cents.
(wtf, why does it always seem to have to go against the grain of the forum?????)

There were many mistakes in your story that i saw.
The security should have noticed and been involved long before you had a guy pinned to a wall.
That fact alone is very disturbing and leads me to belive that they dont do their job very well. That means your not safe.even if its only the time it takes to escort a non paying client to the ATM,chase him down a flight of stairs, and then pin them to a wall before they got there.
Never settle for such a lax in YOUR security.
If this is the norm at your current club,i would agree with the forum, its time, for your own professional safety,to find a new club that will protect its entertainers.

    Now your mistakes IMO.

Not getting paid for a dance before hand may be the norm at your club, but i doubt if doing 9 before seeing some money is.(if it is,this is another good indication it may be time to leave)
Escorting the client to the ATM.When you found out he didnt have the money, your first words should have been to the security, then they should have done the escorting,or at the very least, they should know of the situation so they can watch you at the ATM for problems.
The next problem i have is what they said to you and called you.I also have a problem with your reaction.Security should have been notified then for sure, not you chasing them across the floor.Your now in the wrong IMO.
You say they tripped down the stairs.Sure hope thats their version of how they fell down a flight of stairs with a "lunitic stripper"chasing them. You just opened up yourself AND the club to potential lawsuits.
You pinned them to the wall.Thats assault and battery in many states.

An entertainer in heels chasing down 2 full grown men is just asking for problems and shouldnt happen, its just wrong on many fronts, and not in the job description for a professional entertainer.

Not to defend the security, but once an entertainer says he owes and he says he doesnt, not much they can do legally.
they cannot hold him down and take it.
Your shit outta luck if he cant be intimidated into it or talked into paying.
Not to many clubs will want a police call to the door over 200 dollars, and most wont want to be involverd in a court case involving 200 dollars.
besides, its your word against his,you will lose your case, but they wont lose the counter charges filed on you.

This will happen to you again. You WILL meet more non payers, and its usually not the people you would expect. This time it only cost you 25 dollars and a few mins in dangerous waters.

The real mistake would be if you didnt learn a leasson from this.

I know it sucks,I know its not right.but its life as we know it in our business.

Set yourself up a limit, like 2 or 3 songs before you expect payment or a card to hold. Then it at least is only a small amount that you risk loosing.Just know you will lose money like this again.

A guy can walk into most clubs in the country, get a lapdance, and for whatever reason, refuse to pay.
Not a thing anyone can or will do to him as he is walking out the door.

Yea the doorguys can kick his ass behind the building,he can be barred from comming back in again, but he cant be forced to pay for the lapdance.
The entertainer doesnt get paid in a dispute of this kind unless the customer decides to pay.If he wont pay,the dancer is shit outta luck.
Its wrong IMO but its life as we know it.

If you've seen her arms, you know she's not referring to the ballet.

Although between being forced to go to the ballet, and having an angry dancer give one's scrotum the business end of a 7" spiked heel, I'm not sure which would be worse. Some yutzes out there giddilly offer money to dancers to do the latter to them.
