    Default Pulled muscle?

    I had a bit of a rough night, and I think I pulled a muscle in my, ahem, groin area. It wasn't one particular thing, it just started hurting, and splits were right out from then on. Should I ice it? Stretch? Not stretch? I'm not the most active of people (other than trying to do pilates every other day), so I don't generally pull mucles. I don't want to make it worse! Could it be something worse? Walking is fine, but lifting my leg up is a bit painful. I'm sure it's hard to diagnose online...

    It's funny though, I had a horrid night-banged my head on the pole *clang*, kept tripping, knocked over some guys water with my foot, but managed to do rather well, moneywise. Maybe I got pity dances? LOL

    Massage the muscle and apply heat. I do not envy you the pain. If it hurts bad, go see the doctor. Don't strain the muscle anymore or you'll have permanent damage......

    The heat worked. Yay! I feel so much better today-still no serious leg splitting, but eh, it doesn't HURT anymore. Thanks!

    I've done this before, but I believe I actually damaged a ligament inside my hipflexor from sliding down the pole into the splits. Apparently, there isn't much you can do but be gentle with it until it heals.

    It took 3 months to heal the first time. Now, whenever I pull it, I have trouble w the splits for a few days. I find that some gentle yoga helps loosen things up there. Pigeon pose is good....

    I would be happy to hear anyone else's suggestions....
