Default DJ's: what broadcast software are you using?

Most of my experience has been with pcdj products and actually I think it sucks. Any ideas on some of the other ones out there to check into? Speak up now, don't be shy.

I'm no DJ, but I know several clubs that swear by Winamp, as do I. I organize over 8 gigs of music with 70 permanant playlists (that can be updated of course).

I have been using AtomixMP3 for about 5 years now and I have really been pleased. In my opinion it is alot easier to use than PCDJ or Traktor and cost about half the price. Alot of other dj's in my area do use Winamp and PCDJ and they swear by these products. I guess it is just what you feel comfortable with.

PCDJ Red, the new version with all the bajillions of buttons. i have used several. i like this one a lot, but making a waitlist is annoying, as you have to rightclick. they use dj power at a club here and while it went down constantly, i think that was their crappy computer, not the program.

That was one of the things I didn't like about it. With Atomix, I just drop and drag from one column to another.

If you are using one of these systems, then you are not a DJ. Sorry.

try "sound cooridinator" or "human jukebox," but DJ? Not even close.

Ya know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but let's try NOT to be argumentative please. We all know that a stripclub dj is not considered a "real" dj because we use programs and such at work, however we are dj's in the sense that we play music, regardless if we use a proggie to do it via computer or if we push play on a cd player.

oh it happens everywhere, mojo. all the time. i guess if i busted out turntables again i'd be hip. who knows. excuse me for preferring to carry 12000 songs in a backpack instead of lugging ginormous heavy cases everywhere. you're not a "DJ" if you use cd's either. depends on who you ask. "human jukebox"? wow. i'm not even going to touch that one, as much as i want to. :::deep cleansing breath:::

Holy hell! What did I start? Ask a question and the DJ Gods attack? Hmmmm I thought the main job of a dj was to provide a musical show for the entertainment of others. I can go back as far as tube amps (when that was ALL there was). I remember 45's. Who plays those now? I CHOOSE to use a pc to do my work now, why? Because I can offer a wide array of song genres to please a greater mass. If I'm looked down upon because I do it this way, so be it. I know my shit when it comes to the tunes. I get to play the game "Do you know the song by you know who, I don't remember the words, but it's something like (insert WRONG words here)" I can usually get that song on and in quick time too. So, I really apologize if this question allowed some small minded person to try to make themselves superior.

you guys are right. That was a stupid comment and I apologise. I'm not sure I could handle being a SC DJ myself. I'll stick to the clubs where I belong.

Ok, ok, ok. i apologize too. Sorta went off the deep end, did I? After a tequila, paxil, midol, valium and liberal amounts of cartoons I'm calmed down. lol

Seriously though, I have tried PCDJ and although it has some decent bells and whistles, there is plenty of room during a gig to make mistakes. I'd rather use something that is more simplistic, but not so simple as winamp. Most of my sound fx and such are already keyed in so no need for that.
