    Default more dramas in tokyo....

    i shit you not.

2 girls had their apartment broken into the other night while they were at work.ALL the money they had made was stolen. thats it . just the cash.and the door wasnt broken into...the "robbers" used a key.
they stole the money that was hidden at the bottom of a suit case, under the zipped bit, then replaced all the clothes exactly as they were.....

obviusly knew they had a bit of time up their sleeve.

    the question is.....who done it.

see the only people who have a key ( and the locks hadf just been changed apparently) were the two girls ( who were at work all night) and....the agents.

now who do we all think stole the money?!

this isnt the first time its happened too....oh no....its happened before....different girl....$20K!!!!!!!

oh, and after the girls got home to find their money missing, they rung the agents, obviously upset....only to have them respond "sorry,im at a party, ill deal with it later" then TWO days later he says, oh you want me to call the police for you??!! wtf?

"ok girls, come to japan, its great, you make a thousand dollars a night and it will be the time of your life!!!" BS

now im worried too ,cos after work, one of the agents asked where i lived?! wtf ....since when does he care?! strange...

i know they will see this thread, cos they seen the other one about unfair dissmisal, and i reckon theyd have it in for me by now, but fuck, this place isnt fair.....i guess if they wanna fuck the dancers round,we can fuck them round too....hehe

no, they say to send it home...which most of us do, but i guess these girls were unlucky.

strange thing is, another girl got broken into on monday night ( i think it was) and they found nothing and left.

they were only looking for money...

    Wow, that's bad!

Once when I was on a dohan with a dancer, she had to stop by an AE office before dinner to wire money home. She said that she did it two or three times per week. That seemed pretty excessive to me, but when I asked about it, she sort of laughed it off and said that otherwise she spent too much of it. But maybe this was the real reason.

Btw, once when I was in Japan for several months I opened a bank account (with some help from a Japanese friend). I did have a "work visa", but at least at that time (years ago), a year long stay was not required.

its like my dad use to say. "if you put your money in the bank, and not leave your money around your brothers wont take it!!!""

I know how unfair it is. If they can break into the apartment while you are not there, guess what .. they can also why you are there...

Yeah, it definitely sounds like an inside job of some sort. Of course, if the dancers that got burglared were living in one of those rooms/apts provided by the clubs (or agencies), then lots of people might have known that no one would be home during evenings (except Sundays). But if they used a key in a recently changed lock to gain entrance, then it seems likely to have been a very inside job.

you're right. But there is no forced entry. And even if a police report were filed, would the police even believe the strippers? probably not. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

This is a bad business for sure, and if mermaidnz has some reason to believe that someone might be targeting her specifically....or the dancers where she works in particular, then statistics are irrelevant, but speaking generally, anyone who normally lives in the US shouldn't be the least bit concerned about safety (from crime) issues in Japan. Consider for example

    http://www.bookmice.net/darkchilde/japan/crime.html

or have a look at these figures

"For a more comparative study, here are results as compiled by the Taiwan
government which covers several countries. (data was taken from various
    statistical sources for 1998 )

    Murders per 100,000.
    1. Russia Federation 18.07
    2. United States 6.32
    3. Malaysia 2.73
    Taiwan 1.17
    Spain 1.08
    Japan 0.58

    Rape per 100,000.
    1. United States 34.20
    2. England and Wales 14.69
    3. France 13.38
    Taiwan 8.82
    South Korea 4.38
    Spain 3.23
    Japan 1.48

    Serious Assault per 100,000.
    1. Australia 713.68
    2. England & Wales 405.20
    3. United States 357.94
    Taiwan 37.30
    Spain 23.94
    Japan 15.40

    Robbery/Violent Theft per 100,000.
    1. Spain 169.85
    2. United States 169.02
    3. France 144.10
    Taiwan 14.35
    South Korea 11.74
    Japan 2.71
    "

or google up some data of your own; it is easy enough.

Btw, the numbers for murder are the most reliable; some types of serious crimes are not always well reported to the authorities, but the cops usually find out one way or the other if someone is murdered.

Should be used as a lesson to send the money home. You can get international money orders in different currencies and mail them or use a private delivery service like fedex if you don't have a place to wire to. Or buy travellers checks which you can cash later and which will be replaceable if stolen. Anything to avoid leaving cold cash lying around in dancer housing that to me would NEVER be safe...

Exactly. I don't think this has anything special to do with the fact that it happened in Tokyo except for the (important) fact that a lot more dancers end up using special dancer appartments to which they do not completely control access in Japan than in most other places. I mean how safe would it be to leave your accummulated cash earnings stashed in the dressing rooms of most strip clubs while you were not there? This is basically the equivalent.

I would agree that it's probably an inside job. All the girls should begin wiring their money home and BE SURE to tell new dancers coming in about the unsafe situation, and advise them to send their money home too. Once all the dancers have nothing to offer the thieves, they will go elsewhere to get some easy cash.

Here is some English language info on banks and banking in Japan:

    http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2226.html

and here is some info (also in English) about possible alternative housing to the "stripper dorms" the clubs opperate:

    http://www.monthlychintai.com/english/

which might be useful in the context of this thread.

Wow, really makes you think twice, i really wanted to visit japan but maybe just for vacation now...

Thanks mermaidnz, for the inside scoop...

and maybe my 2 cents, maybe you guys can get a recording cam, to see who the real theifs are, it's crazy to know these people are getting away with this.

Get a Cam, or atleast now that i said it, IF it was the agents than they would be too scared now...

    who knows...

    Stay safes girls!

From what you've written it does sound like an inside job. Someone who knew that the girls were working, hadn't been able to stash the money elsewhere and apparently had the key too? I guess if the money wasn't that great it wouldn't be worth all that trouble.
