Default Progress but still not ready...

I now have a personal stripping trainer! Yippy. A friend that used to dance for years has offered to help me learn a few moves before I start. Last night we went out to a regular dance club that just so happened to have a wall length mirror and a pole. Since it was a normal club, I just took off my skirt and kept the rest of my clothes on. By the time we were done, we had quite an audience. It was fun but I feel unprepaired. She made everything seem so easy and it was difficult trying to mimic her. She said I did well and just need to work on being smoother, more balance and flexibility, and better transitions. I'm so glad she's helping me! I was originally going to go for an audition next week, but now I'm worried it's too soon and maybe I need more than just a week to prepare. Should I take more time to practice or am I just being nervous and procrastinating?

i think maybe you're trying to procrastinate, but im sure you're fine! just keep practicing, and go with your audition next week, you'll just go nuts and get more and more afraid to audition, so just go for it!

I think if you spend too much time worrying about getting every single move down, You're going to mess up. It's kind of like when you were in Highschool, and you'd spend all that time studying for a test.--Next day, You forget everything you've studied.

Relax, Be confident, Be comfortable, and Have fun!

Your friend seems to be helping you a lot, so definitely remember whatever tips she's given you, and do your best!

    Good luck!

Now that you have the general idea of what you are doing, I say just go for the audition. If you are comfortable enough to take off your skirt in a regular club, then you should have no problem in a strip club.

Um, no. Studying worked for some of us.

Nikki, practice all you want before the audition next week, but stick with that audition date. You'll do just fine.

Are they going to expect you to be able to work the pole for the audition? It took months for me to figure out how to do a damn thing with that pole! But its definately a good workout, and being in great shape certainly helps to get hired!

Hey Nikki, I wouldn't worry about looking too polished. The tips from your friend, the preparations you've made, and a little more practice between now and your audition should hopefully be enough to get you hired.

Don't worry about looking too polished. I've known dancers who've been at it for years and they still slip up every now and then; just take it all in stride and have fun with it. Besides, if you look too polished just out of the gate, you'll be passing up on tips from customers who enjoy welcoming newbie dancers. Sometimes being the "new girl" can work to your advantage.

Best way to learn is to do! Everyone has to start somewhere.. you dancing on that pole gives you more practice than i had when I auditioned! No one starts knowing what to do... you watch the girls, you copy them and eventually master your own style.. I say stick with the audition, Im sure you'll do fine!

    Just me 2 cents

Take your time. Slow and sensual is the way to go. Remember to look at us guys seductively and show off those those pearly whites. Good luck to you.

Thank you all for the advice. It seems that almost everyone agrees that I should stick with my original date. If my nerves can stand it, I'll try to do just that.

we've all messed up, tripped, etc. when you do, just laugh. you gotta be able to laugh at yourself. best thing to do is to use it to your advantage. make sure the guys take notice, have them pitty you. lol. can make some money that way too. as they say, the show must go on. don't get down on yourself and embarassed, just keep plugging away!
