Exclamation Customers are asking me this too much!

It drives me nuts when a customer asks me what made me "do this" (stripping). And it's happening alot, got asked about 3 times already. I still don't know how to answer that question right w/o fucking it up w/a nice lie, lol! At first I made believe that I didn't hear the guy, but he asked a few minutes later & I give a blank off guard face. THis is the only thing I dunno how to fake....yet. Help! What do you girls say?

Yeah it can be annoying anwering the same questions over and over. But sometimes they really don't mean it rudely. They are most likely just trying to make conversation.

yeah, they are curious about strippers! we are a mystery. They all know why we do it (great schedule, great money) but they want to hear something to the effect that you REALLY like it!

    LOL...

It is, and I know they're not being rude. I just totally kill the sexy mood in my LD.

I always get asked that question......

I always say I do it because it's the only job I've found that hires ex cons.

You should watch their faces after that!

Just tell them "the money" . It is often the truth and I feel it is almost always what they think anyway.

I dunno...I would think that what made you do this is bills, car payments, you know the usual.Ask him what drove him to do what he does for a living then, huh?

I think what Emily said is true, they want to hear that you REALLY like it, or they want to hear some wild story about how you decided to do it. If you're new to dancing I think you might hear it more often than us vets, simply because if they already have it in their minds that you're new, that's the next logical step in most customers' minds - wonder what made THIS one start?

As for how to answer, I don't think you necessarily need to lie. I always answer honestly, just sometimes give more detail than others. If it's a guy I'm spending more time with (ie, he's spending more money) I'll tell him the story of my first time in a club, etc etc. For the rest they get the standard "I thought it would be fun....*giggle*....and of course the money!"

Tell them its because you are an exhibitionist and sex maniac. They'll be like, "yeah right, whatever". So then answer, "well WTF did you want to hear, that I do it for the money?"

You'll hear this a million times. Sometimes I'll ask them what made them want to be a mop boy at the local jack shack, or assistant manager at Wendy's. I swear, didn't I just answet this thread like a week ago, LOL??

Mop boy at the local jack shack? Ewwwwww! The only job that sucks worst is probably stablehand. I always find it fascinating when all of you ladies are stripping your way through school.

Tell them your probation officer said being an accountant/plumber/lawyer was too unsavory a job. Besides, President was taken already.

I get that question sometimes- I tell them the combination of I visited stripclubs with friends and thought it would be fun to be onstage and I was waitressing before and this is better money. Whatever you say just smile and act friendly and cheerful. I don't mind the question though.

I get this question all the time too Yvanka. I tell them I have just wanted to do this all my life since I was 6 years old. What other job is so much fun, where you can make money and watch beautiful women all night? I have had a few shocked reactions to my answer but actually it is the truth!

There are some great replies in here. I generally say because it pays better than a waitress and it suits me rather well since I'm a natural flirt. This is the truth.

For me, male friend said it best: “It is a compliment, masked in a question. To feign disbelief that someone with your qualities would have a job that required putting up with so much BS and BO.”
Many guys still think that we dance because of a lack of other choices…Please! Kissing ass in an office, still surrounded by BS and BO thankyouverymuch, is a step back in my book. I wouldn’t trade the pole for my old paperwork.
Ergo- I dance because I choose to.

Keep it a nice blend of fantasy and plausability, like everything else. You're a nympho party-girl who just loves to dance, plus you have to put your orphaned niece through podiatry school.

"This is one of the few jobs where that lets me use my underwear as a uniform and I'm actually allowed to spend all day flirting with the customers."

"Who WOULDN'T want this job? I get paid to dance around in my underwear and look at hot naked girls all day." <- starts the "oh are you into girls?" thread of discussion.

You will hear this question a bazillion times. Also try to read the guy, younger guys tend to be comfortable with a "oh it looked like fun so I tried it and see I'm still here so it must've been fun" whereas I've noticed older guys tend to NOT want to hear you think it is a neat job. Not saying they want to hear a sob story, but saying that you're working your way through college/similar seems to be more comfortable. Sometimes.

It's your horrible crack addiction mixed with the fact that you couldn't have afforded your 8th abortion otherwise...

No, really... first, when you have a chance to (at your own home), consider ALL of the reasons you began dancing. Money, obviously.. but do you like stage? Do you like being the center of attention? Are you in to fashion and costumes? Do you like playing your own club DJ and picking out music? Do you like to tease? Do you have ego or power issues? Etc.. Consider EVERYTHING and be honest to yourself. If you know you needed the money because you're broke for school - admit it to yourself. If you know you started to support your drug habit - be honest to yourself.

Now, take these answers and keep track of them.. the next time a guy asks you "why" you started dancing, analyze the situation.

Does this guy want to know more about you, or is he just going through the motions of a conversation? What does he seem to appreciate most about you? (Looks, sluttiness, intelligence, hair colour, neediness, whatever!)? Does he seem like the type that likes to observe and/or be a voyeur?

Once you know what type of guy you're dealing with, you then simply choose your answer by using ONE or MORE of the answers you've come up with on your own. This way you are being HONEST and if he ever sees you again you won't have to remember a lie.

I know some guys get a kick out of listening to "stripper drama" for these guys I obviously started dancing because of some sob story (my parents won't help me, I have no car, blah blah).

Some guys appreciate the intellectual "I'm paying to go to college"

Some guys want a spoiled girl "I just love to shop and needed a job to support my money spending habits"

Some guys like to do lots of drugs, and they think you're there to support your habit, etc..

This is all about taking your REAL SELF and modifying it. At least that's my best experience.. that way you don't have to juggle and remember lies.

AND if you DO decide to lie, pick ONE persona and set of lies and stick with the same set of lies!

(At least in the same city... different area code = different persona)

    -L.

When I was asked why I did what I did or how I got started dancing, I usually responded in a very polite tone with "Why... are you thinking about starting?" or "Why... are you thinking about a career change?" It usually got a few laughs and lightened the mood and then I could give the short version of the truth that I liked the money I could make verses other things I could have done. I found it useful to add a little humor before giving them my boring version of the truth.
