I have a different response for different types of guys. If he's an older gentleman who is financially well-off, respectable and articulate, I say "I do it to pay my way through school while living comfortably at the same time because I think I deserve the finer things in life now and later"... If it's a younger guy who is just curious about strippers, I say something like "I was raised in a conservative environment, private school, etc... and I've always had a desire to do something totally wild and crazy and freaky"... Sometimes I just say I like the attention, sometimes I say "one day I really needed money for parking tickets (or something like that), so I tried the amateur contest. I won 1st place and had a lot of fun so I decided to quit my old job and dance full time"... I don't know.

i always tell the truth-- i couldn't afford to go to my dream school while i was waiting tables, and i decided to do anything within legal limits to get there.

This has been really pissing me off too lately. I thourght I might spend a day visiting all different types of work places and striking up the same conversation to see how other people react.

Me to DCFoxxx, I think I saw wayyy too many 80s hair metal music videos. I've always wanted to be a dancer.

Good answer I heard last night
Q: "Why did you decide to work here?"
A:"Why did you decide to come here?" -
    "Its Supply and Demand, baby"

Actually a better answer would be, "I'm wanted in 47 states. You guess which 3 I'm not!"

Answer the question with a question. "So what brings a guy like you to a place like this"? Smile while saying it, lean in closer.

    It's that simple.

My (true) first time story is pretty good, so I always tell that. A friend of mine was dancing at an amateur night and wanted a bunch of us to come out and support her. They wouldn't let me in if I was under 21 (I was 20) unless I was going to dance...so I did. I find it bizarre that I can take off my clothes at 18 but I can't look at people taking off their clothes until 21, by law. Same with the serving liquor/drinking liquor thing. Anyway, that story always goes over well for me.

Usually when i'm asked this question i tell them the real reason- that It's the only job that will pay that much $ at the age of 21- and i need the money for school, rent, bills etc. Pretty much every guy's reaction is always "yeah that's understandable plus, why not have fun while you're young?" or something along those lines. I try not to strike up too much of a conversation most of the time, unless it's a slow night where ya know- the guys need more attention etc...

I tell them that I decided to "do this" because I had to deal with so many angry people on a daily basis with my former job. Now I get to meet happy people every night who are all smiles around naked ladies. If they press further with the question, I tell them that it allows me to work less hours and focus more on education/other long term career opportunities, as I can't be a dancer forever.
