    Default Groping in Airport

I've travelled to strip, and on several occasions have been singled out for very booby-groping pat downs. I've also had the contents of my work bag commented on, and felt kinda harrassed.

Anyone else had this problem? Suggestions for handling it? I don't really want to complain because I'm worried about being put on some "list".

I DON'T travel to strip, but have gotten the pat-down treatment a couple of times. Nuffin you can do about it, except carry a really wicked looking penis-shaped vibrator in your carry on.

Melonie made a post on this in political poo.

I haven't encountered this yet but will be flying after christmas so I suppose I can "look forward" to it.

What do they do to your boobs? Pat, squeeze or full on fondle?

Do you buy a lot of one way tickets? Do you frequently book at the last minute? These are the sort of things that the Transportation Security Administration looks for. A pat search on a female is supposed to be conducted by a female security officer.

I honestly don't know what your options are as far as complaining but I can tell you from recent observations that the WORST thing you can do is get loud and obnoxious while yelling "do I look like a terrorist????" This only makes matters worse.

I've gone through that, MANY TIMES......If it gets 'too out of hand', You can request a female-officer to pat you down instead. Sometimes if you say something about it, They'll direct it back to..."It's the law, Deal".....I understand it's the law, but I still feel I shouldn't be disrespected.

I thought ti was always supposed to be a female officer?

The last time I was at the airport, I got patted down and I had to wait for a female one.

i believe you can refuse to be patted down by a male officer, without getting into trouble... it only makes sense, but im not 100% sure, just because its "the law" doesnt mean its legal for you to be sexually harrassed by airport personell.

ok this might sound weird but I'm not too thrilled about my boobs getting patted down in front of everybody else waiting to get on the plane. Do they do this out in the open or away from everybody else?

Today's Terrorist Threat: Explosive Breast Implants

Washington D.C. -- Airports around the country went to high alert after Attorney General John Ashcroft warned again of a possible terrorist attack.

"These sneaky little bastards will do anything in their war on freedom. Our sources say they may use explosives implanted in breasts," said Ashcroft.

At airports, security was tightened. Men still are required to remove their shoes for explosives testing, but women are now required to strip to the waist and submit to an examination to verify they don't have explosive implants.

According to National Airport security guard Jeremiah Skaltenburg, "it takes a little longer, but everyone's being very cooperative. No one wants to be in an airplane when someone's breasts go off."

Skaltenburg said the main trouble was from jokesters. "People shouldn't make any jokes at the security checkpoints. We had to arrest several would-be wise-guys who couldn't resist the obvious 'booby-trap' line."

When asked how he was coping with the increased workload, Skaltenburg was hesitant to answer, but eventually said, "well, you'd think it would be a treat, like some juvenile fantasy. But let me tell you, it's no picnic. All day long. A never ending line of women. Just 'squeeze, squeeze, squeeze'. I'm telling you, it's tough to tell the difference between silicone and C4. You gotta 'up' all day long."

However, after complaints from numerous women and women's organizations, Ashcroft announced that the possible attacks wouldn't come from explosive breast implants after all, but rather from explosives stuffed in the terrorist's socks. Male and female passengers are both now required to remove their socks as well as shoes.

Tom Ridge, Ueber Fuehrer for Fatherland Security, called on all Americans to wear sandals with no socks. Upon further questioning, Ridge said his Birkenstock stocks are all held in a blind trust, and that Enron is a financial scandal, not a political scandal.

They take you into a separate room and I've always had a female officer do the pat downs but who says THEY aren't getting their jollies same as the males? They always seem to take extra time checking my "underwires"

I notice I only get "the grope downs" taking domestic flights. They don't seem to care if I'm leaving the country... huh?

guess I better get liquored up beforehand and request a hot male to pat me down. It'll just make the trip oh-so-more-interesting ;-)

Can I pick who I want for the pat down?

OK here's the FYI on this one. It is the law that if you are a female being patted down it MUST be done by a female officer/security. DON'T under any circumstances feel weird about telling the male officer your not going to permit it. If he does insist you ask for their supervisor immediatly. As for going through your suitcase nothing you can do about that one. I went from NYC to FL and they pulled my suitcase apart, and then couldn't get anything back in the bastards! and this is while I still carried my military ID on me and had shown it to them. I'm not 100% certain on this part but i dont think their even supposed to be touching your boobs to begin with, i have to look into that one. They usually ask if your bra has an underwire and stuff like that because that can sometimes set off their wand, My high heels set off the detector for some weird reason which is what caused my craziness.

Yes, I've been groped and harrassed, regardless of if the travel was to dance or not. Now I always put my frequent flyer cards on my reservation when I book online and not just show them the card when I check-in. This has helped.

I was cat called and heckled by a bunch of pilots walking through as the guard checked me in front of everyone...traumatic even for an exhibitionist like me......

Susan- lol, that's so funny- never thought of that They'd probably have to turn it on to make sure it really "is what it appears to be" as they do with laptops etc

I've never been offered the opportunity to go in a side room to be groped- they always do it in front of a bunch of freaky gawking businessmen.

I've had it happen with round trip tickets bought well in advance. . . but never when traveling with a man. Hmmmmmm- do you think there might be some "woman hating" going on here? I stopped wearing underwire bras when I fly, but my breast still get patted and poked. Hmmmm. . . .

Never had a man do it, but I've had them go through my work stuff and have a HELLUVA time doing it. One guy actually started hitting on me. . .

I brought this thread up because it made the front page of the New York Times today. . . . I feel like I"ve been treated worse than most women because I'm kinda cute and/or a travelling stripper. Wondering if anyone else felt the same way. . . .

That's the link to the TSA's own site. It lists EXACTLY what is allowed, expected, etc. Print it out and carry it with you when you fly. That way if a male officer tries to pat you down, or you are NOT offered privacy for a search, you can wave that in their faces. The best traveller is an informed one!

There is also a link at the end of the article for you to make a complaint if necessary!

My bad- it's from yesterday (it sometimes collects in a pile in my kitchen ).

If you sign up for a free NYtimes online thingy (no address or personal info needed, I believe) and type in "airport" and "grope" I believe you can get several articles on the topic.

www.nytimes.com/2004/11/23/business/23grope.html works on my computer, but it might just be remembering me because I've already signed in. . .

I've been harassed traveling for work (domestically, in Canada)- I had my SEWING MACHINE tested for radiation on a flight up to Northern BC (ie buttfuck nowhere).

DO they generally check your checked luggage? I'm going to Auckland via Hong Kong in a few days, and my checked luggage has a few theme costumes and some stripper shoes... are they likely to care? What should I say it's for? Last time I traveled was right before halloween so I had an excuse... :p

    Another is http://travel2.nytimes.com/mem/trave...52C1A9629C8B63 .

At the end of the article the author asks for more people to email with complaints, and I wanted to, but I never got around to it.

There's another article somewhere in the Times, not quite sure where it is. Hope these links work!

Just about every single time I've flown since 9/11 the security guys have tried to pull me aside to check out what I'm smuggling in my bra ! On a recent trip my first flight landed late and had just about enough time to make my connection, but the connecting flight was leaving from a different terminal at O'Hare so I had to take the friggin train and go through security all over again at the different terminal. When I get up to the X-Ray the security guys start staring at my boobs and talking to one another and I'm thinking "shit, here comes a 15 minute search, and I'm going to miss my flight !". So I figure WTF ... I just grab my top and pull it up right at the X-Ray machine and say "everything under my shirt is FDA approved, boys!". While the younger guys were standing there with their jaws hanging, the older 'supervisor' says "yes, maam I can see that ! - come right ahead !".
